  1. Well although I was born in Ireland some almost 65 years ago and lived in England (Not the UK) since I was 10 years old and love this country (England) I still consider myself Irish. So what I ask myself is the matter with an English man calling him self English and celabrating St George's day. If you were born in England you are English so be proud of it.

I am in a similar position, although born in England of Irish parents, I consider myself Irish. I too love England and it's people (most of them anyway).

I am pleased that the English want to have their own identity back, for far too long it has been buried under "British" which is no more than a political constuct. It is England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland that are real nations, especially in cultural terms.

One request, can I still be allowed to support England at sporting fixtures against anyone but the Irish Republic, and drink real ale? I ain't keen on Guiness.

  2. Welcome mj, I was based in Chatham in the 60's but i'm not sure where Ebgland is?

It's the name we use for our part of the place others call England. It is used to denote the fact that we are decended from Jute settlers, not your common Anglo Saxon mob.

That or I am talking rubbish to cover a typo.

  3. Just joined, I haven't even got the Yam yet, pick it up Thursday. A 97 diversion 900.

I will probably have some questions then. I do my own maintainance, so will probably need some advice for a while.

Bit of a departure for me, first 4 cylinder bike I have had for 30 years.

Been riding a long time. It is all touring and doing bike rallies.

My other bike is a 2001 Guzzi Jackal, I have had from new.

  4. FOOTMAN-JAMES, thats FOOTMAN JAMES, I changed to them for this year as they were the cheapest after much phoning around.

I called FOOTMAN JAMES and spoke to a pleasant wee lass called Sarah, after 15 mins questioning and getting the cost £ sterling I told her that I was gonna shop around-as you do, so I asked Sarah for a REF number (reference number) which I got.

spent 2 days phoning around other insurers and concluded that FOOTMAN JAMES was the better option-

    however !

on calling FOOTMAN JAMES back I got call centre top tosser called Wayne and what a top tosser he was, I gave my REF number to him-

    no joy !,

he insisted that I go through the entire 15 minute question session all over again ( at my expense and time)----next years sales loss !

its not just about the cost for me, its the level of service, and in this case how irritating the top tosser from FOOTMAN JAMES was in not accepting my previously prepared REF number

I have been using Footman James for a couple of years, just added a second bike and it was cheap. I think you were unlucky, I have always found the service good.

I have called them from the Czech Republic and got the cover extended past the 35 days a trip maximum. Took about 5 minutes.

They do tend to make sure all the Ts are crossed though.

I pay £168 full comp for a Yam 900 Divvy and a Guzzi Jackal, including european wide breakdown with home start. Mind you I am an old fart with dokeys years no claims.
