  1. My moped doesn't seem to have any power and i'm not sure why, it runs and idles fine, but then after a short few seconds when pulling away, it sounds like it's trying to go, but can't.

After taking it apart, I found this part, and not sure what it is, and whether there is supposed to be anything connected to the end. It goes to another part, then the pipe down into the exhaust with nothing else going into it?

Also, the local bike shop told me to take the carb apart, and I have a picture of the carb:

How to take it apart? is there any special information / things I shouldn't do?

    Many Thanks,

  2. Ok, thanks guys. :)

I have taken all the fairing off the front of the bike, and found that the part at the end of the long tube (at the bottom) that attatches to both forks is actually bent, at the bottom. Does anyone know what this part is called... or how it comes?

Anyone happen to have a parts list for the CS50Z 2008?

    Many thanks.

  3. Okay, so someone hit my moped in the carpark at work the other day, while the steering lock was applied. They seem to have bent the steering, but the bike workshop won't even open the bike up for less than £100, to see the extent.

They also said if the frame is bent, it could be a write off... is this true?

    Thanks!

  4. Hey.

ive got a 2003 yamaha YQ50 aerox. its worked fine and had new reed valves and piston rings about 5 months ago.

i recently installed neons on the moped. they have a switch to turn them on and off on the negative wire leading to the batery.

the other day i left my full beam lights on all night (although with engine off and no keys in ignition) and came out to a flat battery.

it started on the kick so i took it out for a blast to give the battery a good charge.

after driving for about 20 mins to the shop, the electric start still didnt work, it moved the starter motor but not fast enough to fire. how ever it did start on the kick.

i got home to drop the shopping off. was indoors for about 5 mins.

i came back out and still no electric start (again started with kick first time).

i went to pul off and i got about a meter and the bike died. all power went (but the break lights and indicators still worked [as they normally would with the ignition on but enging off])

i pulled onto a drive way, got off the bike and put it on the stand.

again the electric start had power, but not enough joice to start. but once again first time on the kick.

i reved it again and it died.

tried for a third time and same result. i took it to my drive and left it for a good 10 mins on idle and it was fine, as soon as i reved it it died.

ive been told it could be a dirty carb and jets by a more mechanically minded neighour. i however am 16 and dont really knwo what this. i know what a carb and jets are and what they do, just not exactly where or how to get them out.

so firstly any ideas of what the problem is?

and and step by step guides to removing the carb?

    Thanks alot

(this is my first post, lets make it a good one!!)

I'm not an expert on bikes, but could give you my opinion!

I think that it may be the spark plug possibly, and it's just coincidence that its when you installed lights onto your bike. I had this problem, and had to take the spark plug out and clean it (Yamaha Jog RR). Sometimes the bike would ride fine, and sometimes it would stall, and hesitate about moving when normally riding along, and had problems starting the bike.

The other problem could be the alternator is not charging the bike properly, either due to a dodgy alternator, or the battery could be dead, as it is potentially 6 years old, and if it was flattened fully, this could damage it, however I can't see why it would.

Have you also tried the bike without the neons copnnected up to the battery?

  5. I have an Aerox R 50cc 57 plate ive had alot done to it for speed and it gets between 70-75mph but it has no acceleration and wont go up hills well, does anyone know what i can do. Also im getting a new exhaust should i get a leo vince zx or a pm tuning exhaust and im getting a new variator should i get malossi or polini?

I took the washer out the variator on my moped, it will hit higher speeds but the acceleration has dropped, so i'm not sure what you could do, although i've heard if you get a new variator it should help. I'm thinking about getting the Leo vince ZX, but you will also have to do the rollers, and the clutch springs that come with it for full power.

Out of interest, what else have you had done? I'm trying to fully de restrict my Jog RR, and not sure where to start.

  6. Hello,

I have a Yamaha Jog RR and now I have turned 17, wanted to look into derestriction.

I understand I will need to get a new performance exhaust, and take the washer out the variator but is there anything else I will need to do (except jet, clutch springs and rollers)?

    Many Thanks
