  2. Hi,

Thanks for that tooby, if it has the ability to remove the street legal inserts I might go for it.

Quick question, I have slightly overfilled the MT-03's oil by about 2 millimeters. Should I drain off the oil or just leave it to burn away?

    Many thanks

  3. :P Absolutely a hit if you ask me.

I'm due to pick mine up on the 1st Sept on a 56 plate (Deep Armour Colour). As well as the now free Akropovic Exhaust & fly screen, I managed to get a further £450 off an £8999 asking price, a £3k trade in for my bike, a full Thatcham MC2 to MC1 Alarm system upgrade (the YM600), a Scottoiler and an optimate connection all installed for when I pick it up.

It's just a pity the accessories are so bloody expensive as I'd love to have the carbon air intakes as well..

    B) Anyway, I'm looking forward to being probably the only MT-01 rider in the Kingdom of Fife..

I also thought about taking the demo bike out. It sounds interesting...

  4. Hi!

Anyone thats knows how to enter "special mode" on the MT where you can change CO???

Sorry Tooby I have not seen that. Any yam service people reading who could help?. What will this do Tooby?.

Another quick question to Tooby, has the akra system got removable baffles?.

Ps. Just come back from a trip to Wales on the MT-03 and it's great!. A went from Nottingham UK to Aberystwyth and back 170miles each way. All that with a pillion and backpack. The bike still went extremely well, but I noticed that we had to stop every 40 miles for so due to bu...tocks ache :)

  5. Anyone got top speed yet on this thing?. I managed 103mph twice today .

In answer to nipper I done around 170 miles today and my upper body was starting to become sore.

  6. Thanks Tooby

Having taken the MT out yesterday for a grown-up ride (270 miles), in a group with sports bikes & a KTM super motard, I have to say - it's still awesome, it keeps up & even beats other bikes. Whow! It's fun on big roads, it's fun on small roads, it's fun in town, it's even fun on gravelly car parks - it's just FUN! I'm boring all my my mates to death raving about it which is why I am trying to get it out of my system here.

So after yesterday, it was defintely going to France regardless of the tyres, but given what you have said, it should be okay so thank you.

P.S has anyone tried any motorway riding (autobahn, etc) on the MT?

I have done the motorway and it will seem to cruise ok at around the 70 to 80mph mark. However I will say that it seems to not be well suited to it. Then again this is my first bike...

  7. Grats to a wonderful bike. I have done 2500 km on mine, I have loved every km. Still waiting on some Akrapovic for more sound, perhaps this week.

    Regards

    Tooby

I done 95mph on mine. Could have done more, but was running out of road.. So far I have done around 1400 miles...

    It's a rapid bike!.

  8. Hey Tooby,

Just got my son Max back from Uni and spent the last 3 days being a laundry service/restaurant/bike mechanic. Anyway all sorted now and I should get the mpeg sorted by the end of the week.

I'm very keen on hearing that...

  9. depends how long they want the bike from you and if it is damaged, who pays for it?

Also will the engine be underwritten for damage testing a non standard exhaust (and your warranty will be void forever)

    just my 2p's worth

I might go take alook round their garage. If it looks immaculate and they appear professional and if they are covering me against any damage then perhaps i'll go for it.

  10. Hi!

I made a fast seach on them but it did not give much...Why not, let them have a go and se what they can come up with. Do you have to buy if youre not satisfied?

Not sure yet of the exact package their offering. They said I do not have to buy, but I would get a discount on the exhaust.

They would look to design a street legal can with removeable baffles.

  11. Hi All

New here but have been Yamaha owner since -89. I now ride a MT-03, what a bike :). Have any of you MT owners a Akrapovic on? How does it sound in legal on not so legal versions? Is the Akra system worth all that money?

    Best Regards

    Tooby

    Hi Tooby,

Naa, i'm still on the verge of getting the Akrapovic... It looks great!. People say it sounds better, but not sure if it improves performance.

I would of thought that it would help performance since I thinking that it saves a few kilo's in weight.

  12. Hi Jamie,

Wow - 1st bike eh. Well picked mine up on Friday and have covered about 250 miles. Had to go out with my fella yesterday so we took 4 wheels. Both of us can't wait until he gets that leg out of the cast.

As far as the exhaust goes I would say go for it. I ordered it with bike Sounds great, looks great and as far as performance enhancement it's hard to say cos I only had about 4 hours on the demo.

Pretty pricey but what the hec!

    Dawn

Mine is having its first 600 mile service this Saturday. Then I can begin to open up. I found that 4/500 rpm is around 60mph on this bike.

I might just go for that exhaust.

    Jamie

  13. Hey there,

How are your arms now. Have you run it in yet? or did you just go for it. Temptation, temptation.

Mines in the shop and ready now - just had a call but the're closed tomorrow.

    How frustrating.

    Dawn

    Hello Dawn,

thanks for replying, it's good to hear from a fellow owner!. I test rode the bike on a demo day, then went back the same afternoon and ordered one.

My arms are fine now thanks, I think I just over done it. This is my first bike and was very excited.

I'm on the way to running it in. I have done 385 miles just in over a week, been out on it every night this week. Just taking it easy as the manual says, but still giving it the odd push.

I was thinking of getting the Yamaha stock titanium exhaust upgrade. What do you think?.

    Jamie

  14. Hi there,

I had the same dilemma but the other way round. Wandered in saw the MT 03 - took it out there and then. Didn't want to take it back! got back with a big grin on my face. Fantastic handling, loads of grunt does exactly what it says. Very different from my fazer but what did I expect................so i went back the next day took it out and parted with my cash. take delivery in 2 weeks. how excited am I ? So went back and told the bloke...................

I just picked mine up last Friday and I love it... You won't be disappointed. Oh boy it pulls in second gear, I had to put ice on my arm after the ride!
