  1. hey,

Somehow the casing for the speedo gearbox on the front wheel has cracked and split open. Any ideas about repair/replacement?

oh, the bike is a DT125 LC Mk3.

    cheers!

  2. hey guys,

Does anybody have any personal experience with Marushin helmets? I know the Tiger and Samurai models have 5* SHARP ratings but haven't found any reviews online, so was wondering if they're any good.

    cheers!

  3. Aw, fuckitt....... Looks like they have been taken over by the evil global enterprise that is More Crap than News (MCN).

Might as well read The Sun!!

    Look here, anyway:

    Some reviews

At least Bike Magazine seems to still be alive....

yeah - does anyone happen to have a copy of the big book of kit?

    cheers.

  4. Hi,

What do you need to know ?

    Regards Jim

    hey Jim,

I think the links above have pretty much covered everything - will let you know if anything specific comes up.

    cheers everyone.

  5. cheers guys - you've been really helpful. think im gonna go with a Marushin (Tiger or Samurai) - they're ACU gold and have a 5* sharp rating. plus they're in my price range, which is always a bonus. :)

  6. hey,

Does anyone know where I can find detailed info about the MOT for bikes in the UK? Ideally some sort of checklist.

    cheers!

  7. hey,

I'm new to motorbiking and I was wondering if anyone knew of any good websites that discuss/review motorbike clothing and/or helmets - particularly in terms of protective ability.

Also, in particular, any advise on helmets is welcome.

    cheers!

  8. hey,

So I've got an '87 DT125 LC MkIII and I need to find a new indicator relay. The Haynes manual lists the part as:

    manufacturer Nippondenso

    Model 10V

    Wattage 21W x 2 + 3W

But I can't find them anywhere (ebay, official website, some parts dealers). Anybody know what a suitable alternative would be?

    Cheers!

  9. cheers for the quick reply!! :-)

looks like the ones i had on my dt when i first got it, they look road legal judging by the tread pattern, if they arent road legal they sohuld be marked "Not for road use" or similar.

make sure it has more than 1.6mm tread and they should be fine :)

  10. hey,

I just bought my first bike ('87 DT125 LC Mk3) and it was running fine for the first few weeks, but then I was away on holiday and when I came back it was having problems. Specifically, the engine starts fine in neutral but as soon as you move into gear, it cuts out. It definately seems to just cut out rather than stall because the bike doesn't lurch forward or anything so it doesn't obivously seem like a clutch problem (at least to me :) ).

Any thoughts on what I should check? I know there are various safety cut-off switches (eg side stand) so maybe one of these is malfunctioning? But I wasn't sure if these switches cutoff the engine when it's in gear or just stop it from starting altogether?

I should say that I'm still pretty new to bikes and am still finding my way around so feel free to be as basic as you like. :)

    cheers!

  11. hey,

Just got my first bike (DT125 for learning) but it doesn't have a valid MOT and I just wanted to ask if anyone knows what the deal is with legal tyres? Speficially are the types in the pictures legal?

    cheers!
