I was undoing the alt cover and oil starts to leak out, so i tighten it back up. Is there oil present in this part of the case? do i have a serious problem? I am trying to troubleshoot a non running left cylinder but as i said maybe this is a big int. some help is greatly appreciated.
oh yeah the bike is a 78 sx 4oo

not sure what you mean. the speed rating is what you need for safety at speed.
90 is the profile of the tyre.
agreed!! the wide tire comment is just my opinion, but thankfully that fad seems to be on the decline.

Hot Damn, that looks sweet. gives me a little hope. Is that seat and rear piece bought or made?

TDM ?? all ive seen related to that is a newish looking motor. How about xs 650, might be physically to large to squeeze in there tho.

I realize its not ideal , i have an xs 400 but the motor has decided its to tired to go on. So i was just thinkin for the sake of keeping it the same size displacement and likely getting a needed power boost, it would be cool.

just wondering if anyone knows if an RD 350/400 motor can be fairly easily swapped into on XS 400 frame. i know with some fab anything can go into anything. The rd motors look pretty small so there should be no problem for clearance, just maybe change a motor mount. ??? has anyone tackled this before?

hey i'm pretty new her too, but im having almost the exact same issue. bike was running fine , if a bit lean -high idle. now the right cylinder only fires. if i remember correctly the left side cut out off and on a few months ago. anyways now its right side only and i have switched the plugs, switched the coils and put in new points and its running the same. i pulled and cleaned the left carb but it was already surprisingly good for sitting quite awhile. any new ideas?
Whats the biggest rear tire I can put on a 78 xs 400?
