  2. Hi all

Would you believe the DT has done the piston and rings again  and it's a diffrent engine.

Any way the thing is I took the head and barrel of(getting good at this) and found rings shagged and piston knacked but what I found strange is there is oil in the crankshaft as far as I know there should be no oil there,as I turn the engine over with the kickstart the crank comes up soaked in oil.Any ideas lads,is it a full strip down and seals or worse as in crack between crankcase and gearbox.

    Cheers all

  3. Hi slick- M- man." On the highways am getting 80mls per tank .[ 130 km] thats full-to

empty, off road will cut that by half . so ur not far away with 70 km. That altitude thing is a different thing ,, The air is not so dence" so ur bound to run ritch. and be down on power ,,,

I got a DT250 and I find that riding around local about 35mpg not a very big tank.

  4. Hi all

The spark plug holder is a rare part for a kawa H2 and $47 with postage is a good price.

    His Ebay name is international-shipper.

Thanks Jim but I'm afraid it's covered so not to collect dust :D looking for a Kawa Z1 to join it ;)

Shame there is nothing classic Yamaha to join them apart from old faithfull the DT but I use that as my daily run around.

  5. Just been looking to buy a stator on fleabay and found one from a seller that never refunded me $47 for a spark plug cover last year,he supposed to have sent it with tracking number which he gave me and on USPS no number, made a claim then he asked me to drop the claim and he would refund so in good faith I did and never heard from him again after loads of sent mails. He trades under international-shipper and his name is Joe Veal,he also prolonged the the time so I could not leave neg feedback, just goes can't trust everyone lads.

Well got me mum poor old girl to give me a tow, still nothing the bloody thing is it was a runner before I restored it and I didn't touch the coils or remove the wiring only took the stator off for a clean and put it back on,everything works but no spark and battery charged, got a feeling it might be the pick ups on the stator bloody fortune if it is.

  8. may be easier to bumpstart it, check for spark, compression, fuel getting into the chamber e.t.c and ask your most athletic mate to push you down the road on it

  9. Nope - Back in the 70s, you Yanks exported illegal AM CB Radios to us here in Blighty.

Those, along with CW McCall and Kris Kristoffersen in the movie Convoy.

Later came Burt Reynolds in Smokey & The Bandit and the rest of the whole Trucker culture kinda followed.

Blast from the past.I remember those days, used to drive a Volvo F88 then a Ford Transcontinental

  10. Methinks why don't you take it to a dealer see what he offers, then mark up a bit and put that then as your reserve, you might take into consideration that now is not the best time for a selling. There's also bike trader

  11. Hi all

Well I got the other engine in the DT and started up no problem :D :D now am using normal 2 stroke oil as a 20:1 ratio premix but does smoke abit was wondering if I could use a synthetic oil and reduce the cloud of smoke but after a very expensive rebuild don't want to take chances, would prefer the smoke to another shagged engine, any ideas

  12. Used to use half a potato in the old days on my truck when the wiper used to pack up once drove all the way up from South of Italy pissing down with rain for 3 days and no wipers

  13. well mate if this is the first forum you have joined then maybe you should know most people who join a forum normally introduce them selves, tell us a little bit about them selves ,what bike experience they have, not just jump in expecting help or advice, would you just walk in a bar you had not been in before and start asking questions i dont think so.as it was a bank holiday the forum would have been quiet as a lot of folk were out on there bikes but to expect a reply in just over twenty four hours and then start slagging people off that you dont know then all i can say is FUCK OFF!

    +1
