  1. Hello, I might get in trouble for insulting your intelligence here, but something that was panicking me on my Shadow 125 when it was doing something very similar to yours...

If yours is a 125, Might I suggest that the huge amounts of wind we've had recently have been affecting your ability to accelerate? Mine lost about 10mph on a bad day and I was getting really worried. It's a problem with little 125 engines that they don't have strength to fight the wind past a certain point.

If it still misbehaves when it's not windy then I apologise, but it's something worth considering before taking your bike apart :P

Good luck getting your "oomph" back!!

  2. I want a dragstar :P It was just dead hard to find what I wanted without having to ride it 150 miles after getting it. Might sound like fun on a 750 but on a 125 it sounds a bit painful ^^. I promise I'll get a Yamaha eventually ^^

  3. On my 50cc I've never found that "too fast" mark, I've only ever had her at 65, and that was slipstreaming so I couldn't really enjoy it ^^ I had to stop cos my 2 second stopping distance became a 1 second and then I decided that the lorry driver wouldnt be able to see me soon. I dropped back, I'm looking forward to a bit more power ^^

  4. As some of you will know, I've been shopping around for a 125, placing the Dragstar as my main priority. However, I found a 58 reg honda shadow and told my dad and we've got a pleasing deal and I'm picking it up on Saturday ^^ lol.

This means I'll have had (and at one point will have) Two bikes which are not Yamahas and have never actually owned a Yamaha. I hope this isnt grounds to kick me out of the club lol I really like it here, i'm just missing that important aspect: Owning a Yamaha.

    Please don't hate me ^^

    Ed.

  5. A chain is only as strong as............. The rider telling it where to go. ((Weak I know... this was the hardest one :?))

A friend in need is a................Friend with a flat.

A journey of a thousand miles begins.......... With turning back to get whatever you forgot.

A little of what you fancy...................... A lot of nagging?

A penny saved is a............ penny for fuel :) ((Stupid joblessness lol))

All work and no play makes............. Ed an ANGRY PSYCHO

All good things come to he who.......... wins the lottery?

    Cold hands, warm............. Engine.

Great minds think............ as little as possible.

  6. Yes the full bike test would but not the full moped test read your licence and the definition of a moped, they are not allowed to do more than 30 mph full stop so if the bike does over 30 mph it becomes a 50 cc motorcycle then you need to be 17 to ride it which would put the rider back on L plates as the moped full licence would only count as a provisional on said bike, that is the law so be careful seen many a teenager end up with their tail between their legs like this thinking they know all, i was around when the law changed and looked into it all when my son and daughter were learning to ride,

in my day the 50cc bike needed to be able to propelled by pedals that was all, when you got too 17 you could remove pedals fit footrests and take your test, then jump on anything you wanted the next day no 2 year 33bhp limit or anything like that

Meh, I just ride on my CBT anyway. I'm getting my full license soon though. My bike is faster than 30 mph and I know it. I just ride responsibly wherever i am and always stay within speed limits. Either way out of 6 people in my school year, one 50cc is actually restricted to 30 mph. I'm getting a 125cc for my birthday hopefully (or half of one) so I'll not need to worry about it from then on in.

  7. I dont think yuo can do more than 30 mph still after passing the test, by definition all you can ride at 16 is a 50cc bike restricted too 30 mph etc, so technically youre mate could have been done for riding a bike capable of more than 30 mph

so if he was 16 he should not have been on it at all would only have had a provisional licence there fore should not have had a pillion no plates he was very lucky the old bill did not throw the book at him

    Merv

The full test allows you to ride at the national speed limits with one pillion passenger and sans the L plates. Matt was completely within the law, but like a lot of people, the copper was unaware of the existence of the full moped license and therefore assumed my buddy was in the wrong on all counts.

  8. It's my birthday tomorrow!!! I'll be 17 and I'll be riding a 125cc dragstar(hopefully) until about june/july and taking my full test in the summer hols followed by a 650cc dragstart(hopefully) lol Just thought I'd let you all know!!

How much does it suck that I have three AS level exams tomorrow on my bday though? :'(

    Can't win em all I guess! :P

  9. Yeah you can get the full moped test. My best mate did it and it means you're not restricted to 30 anymore just national speed limits, you don't need Lplates, and you can have a pillion. It was dead useful for me and my mates getting lifts around Town at lunch lol. He got pulled over by the police at one point and the officer was all cocky just like "Right mate, Today I'm going to take your license off of you. Three things, You were speeding, You've got no L plates, and You've got a pillion passenger. That adds up to 9 points I beleive..."He said grinning widely and matt just said "Do you need to see my license officer?" And pulled out this pink card and the officer ate his words and apologised to us!!! AHAHAHA. But yeah, I'm not sure it's REALLY worth doing. But it depends how far from 17 you are?

  10. That's stuffs really impressive mate, I'm a "performer" too lol. Well, I've done one gig, I play the ukulele and sing rather badly lol but I get a lot of laughs wherever I play, had my first gig in a pub last friday :) Well let you know when I have a video online :)

  11. Nah its not her - its the one they have tried to make look like a hippy - all messy blonde hair and barefoot with a voice that sounds like you're rubbing a rat down a cheese grater....the one you're on about is Rachel. She wasnt too bad i didnt think, but fuck me her attitude stank!! Anywhooo - she went out of it last night!

Yeah her attitude was shite and musically her performance was rubbish :P I've not bee following it really :(

  12. Is she the black one who set out on her own one week to choose and arrange her own song? I saw like 2 episodes (my girlfriend watches it) and I was amazed that she'd made it through auditions, I could have sung better than she did, she hit about 6 flats, was completely off key all the way through, I swear she missed her que at one point and luckily, because it's a good band, they saved her. And then the judges just go on about hoe challenging it's been for her, not a single pissing musical comment in it, that really grated my nerves. If we're not talkinga bout her, then I'm sorry :P but she IS rubbish

  13. Nawr, I've had my time playing with a little bike, I know I don't know all the ropes, but I don't think I'm gonna learn any more being able to go 10mph faster, I'm going up to the bigger bike cos i need one for at least 5 years (end of school and a masters at uni if they'll take me) so it makes sense to buy a big bike now and learn to ride it , rahter than keep buying them. Also, I've just plain fallen in love with how the 650 classic looks. :)

  14. I've ridden a 50cc for a year :) got away without any bumps or grazes (non that i had to claim for anyway.) So Hopefully that stands in my defence :P

I'm lucky with my 50cc, it JUST fits in the garage, but there's going to have to be a trip to the tip to get rid of some of the crap in there to make room for my new bike.

on that note, anybody want to buy enough second hand carpet to cover 3 football pitches?? or one of 500 lawnmowers? ;)

  15. Evening all :)

As you probably know I'm hoping to get myself an XVS650a when i turn 17 and have been horribly worried about the insurance seeing as i'm so "young". I had a look around in google for "yamaha bike insurance" and filled out a quote form with accurate details, and got results from £550 to about £3000, was wondering if anyone knows any reasons for this and also if they can recommend anyone cheaper, I've got 1 year's no claims and have held my full UK license for 0years and negative two months :P

SO EXCITED about my new bike.

    Ed

  16. This is something I'd love to have done on my 50, but seeing as i've got my A levels coming up after my 17thw ehn i'm getting a 650 i don't think it'd be possible anymore. it's a real shame but I'm definitely gonna go for it on my 650 :D

And I'm gonna do it a much more interesting way... just a set of panniers and MAYBE a rucksack, in the panniers, a couple of tshirts and clean pants, a bike lock, a pair of wwaterproof trousers, or jeans if i wear my leather trousers to tour in. and then just a tarpaulin a sleeping bag and some paracord :D make a bivouac every night that i can't find somewhere to sleep :D

But it'll be less novel on a 650 i guess.

  17. tanks mate, i'll take a look,

by the way, it's not jsut chain it's a rear sprocket aswell which tehy have to import. the teeth are knackered or bent or something :/ anyway, i was lucky to get it there apparently according to a couple of people, but if i can find the parts faster then amybe i'll get lucky :D

    Thanks for the link!!

  18. Did I mention? aswell as using my steering lock, I have a tiger chained to the handlebars, I don't remember the last time i fed him, it's bloody hard to get on your bike with an angry tiger attached to it though :(

Siberia have some good ones if you're looking for a particular brand, or if you've got a really big bike, maybe you want to think about getting a liger, goole image liger, they're mental!
