  1. Just ask them to mark it as a gift - then you dont pay any import taxes etc.

----i have had loads of stuff from U.S, with no probs but recently got caught out -ordered a stilletto seat for xvs 650 from los angeles motor cycles (via ebay they would not mark as gift & ihad to pay £59.00 to customs before they woul release it--nice seat though & still cheaper than any where in UK!! ;)

  3. Yes i had to do the same. Also the heat shield was missing from them and he kept promising to send it but never did - until i started a paypal dispute then he sent it and its shite!! Also the baffles didnt fit without getting stuck so i had to spend ages grinding them to fit - but i dont have them in anyway - much better without!

I had my mate make a permanent one for me this is it - and its brilliant:

yep it is great -had been racking my brains as to what to do/use -what a brill idea- will be attempting to make 1 :D:D

  4. Ooooh you have them too!

Didnt you find you had to fanny about though to get them on - although the end result is fabulous!

DIDN'T have much trouble at all but i did take brake pedal (all bracket ) & rectifier off first----also made a small plate/brackt to pick up on front hole so both hole on original mount were in use not just rear.

p.s what sort heat shield did you get as like u said original sh*t-- textile trousers melted & nasty marks on leathers-

but a small prce to pay :D:lol:

  9. hi all.

im new to bikes, just got myself a little 50cc scooter at the grand age of 36. i dont even get 1mph for each year of my life, as its struggles at 30mph, even tho i de-restricted it, but i guess my 16stone is not helping matters.

just need something that will do about 50mph for now.

looking to get myself a 125cc dragstar, to see me through the next year atleast, then will go for my das. (only doing it really because my old man says he's left me his electra glide and fat boy in his will) :D

just not got the time to do it at the moment, what with being a bus driver and having 3 young kids.

are there any dragstar owners around wokingham , berkshire area?

what are they like for getting parts / repairs / servicing etc, as i know they dont make the 125 anymore.

just looking for any of this info or any other tips before buying. Not seen many for sale, so just looking at pictures mainly, if there is an owner in berkshire who fancys showing me there bike, that would be good, and i will offer a cuppa tea, and maybe a biscuit ;)

    cheers

    jeffro

hi and welcome, i got into biking at the ripe old age of 52 (mi life crisis an all that) did cbt then bought 125 vt shadow to get confidence up -did direct access & passed 3rd time!!!!!--now the proud owner & rider of 650 dragstar custom--good luck

  10. I'll be looking for one in a couple week's time if it hasn't sold, not got my dragstar yet but that's one of the things on my list of additions :) The bike might already have one though. Otherwise, good luck with the sale :) any other bits and bobs going?

hi, yes i will have a windshield/screen up for grabs when i take it off this is in mint condition ,slightly tinted & highly posished stainless steel fittings ( not just chromed steel) this will also fit xvs 1100 as weel as 650 ( gen yamaha accessories )

  11. oop's forgot to write something before i clicked!!!- ( newbie )

i think bike looks awesome with that extra rake & it's not over the top i.m.o.- am fancying the seat for my dragstar custom though-but then again i'm always 3 steps in front < don't take my test till end of nov- still am out & about as much as poss on 125!

  12. What Ttaskmaster said (fuckin hell im agreeing with him AGAIN! )

Personally i think rake kits look the dogs bollox, but i havent ridden a bike with one on. I have a piccie of a dragstar with a 5 degree rake kit on:.....

    carl.jpg

And i got that from this site:

    VStar 1100 dot com

It was on page 6 of the gallery, number 17 down on the far left. you could email its owner and ask for their advice ;)

    Seeee....even i can be helpful when i want. ;)

  13. They sound like stock pipes with the baffles in - like a wet fart in a pair of damp undies.

I dont have baffles in and i never will. My pipes dont have "not for road use" on them therefore they are legal.

OK i might one day get an advisory but its unlikely.

I havent noticed any difference in performance whatsoever.

I personally believe rejetting a cruiser is a load of old money making bollox. My cruiser has a big, thumping V Twin engine, its not a performance bike its a cruiser - steady away and all that - and is not finely tuned like the sports bikes, so rejetting IMHO isnt necessary - but its up to you what you do. ;)

hi, on nightshift & got a spare minute (lol) GOFF jus wondered how long you've had pipes on ( not bluing)

think am gonna get some they look good ( keep buying bits & pieces, er indoors reckons i'm in my 2nd chilhood/ midlife crisis an all that

can't even ride it yet till passed test, riding 125 shadow at moment)

But hey lifes too short,, an it ain't a rehersal!!

  14. I have some very nice Caligula Wave pipes on mine.

Yeah i hear ya go "you got whaaaaaaat?"

I got these from Italy for the princely sum of 250 Euros. Ok so they aint top of the range but fook me they sound the dogs danglies and they look the biz too. You can see 'em on Elvira if you look at me profile. ;-)

hi, goff just wondered if they sound ok with decibel killer fitted- does it affect performance not being re jetted-thanks in anticipation-- seen & heard Elvira on utube
