  1. Help! Any assistence greatly appreciated. My YZF R6 '99 model does not want to start after the winter hibernation period.

The bike is turning over but does not seem to have a spark. Bought new spark plugs (not fitted yet), battery ok, fuses ok, fuel ok but could it be anything else? Bike will not bump start either.

    Cheers :)

  2. Hiya guys

  3. hey pal,

Batifan, yamgirl and chris you are all welcome to come if you fancy it?

let me know if you fancy it

    B

Cheers for the invite but My 'Ol Mans got a gig that day so will be having a few sherberts at the Greenstar! :beerchug:

  4. A band I used to like and now sadly split was Faith No More.

Mike Patton was fucking brilliant....best front man since Bon.

Notice I said "front man" not singer...that honour obviously has to go to Paul Rodgers! 8)

    ALL OF EM LEGENDS!!! :hail:

Faith No More have recently got their sh1t back together again and are currently on tour! :rah: and are on at this weekends LEEDS FESTIVAL - albeit on the 2nd stage but hey ho...

My music taste is very eclectic...child of the 80's so loving that, went through my raver stage in the 90's but favor the rock / alternative overall to be honest - classic to present :headbang:

  5. Yeah we go up there quite a bit...not too far from us either. Yes those Average Speed Camera thingymebobs are planned for up there :angry2: and yes there is 5.0. activity about and they do have a Chopper Copper sometimes on patrol but you can usually see and hear it... <_<

Personally, we have never encountered the cops though...may be the time of day we go (we always seem to go later in the day)....

I find you have to watch out for Kamikazee sheep more than lurking coppers

  6. Hi y'all

Ive got twin rear lights on my '99 R6. Coming back from a ride Im informed my left light is out. My b/f takes off the lense cover (which is bubbled from the heat), we find that the bulb has melted into the plastic at the back and we cant get it out....same on the other one although not quite as bad.

They are only little 8w bulbs?? can anyone offer a theory as to why they are running that hot? Dont wanna fork out on new stuff if they are just gonna be frazzled too...

is it just shit selection of bulbs / lights on an 'aftermarket' undertray or could there be another issue?

    Any help appreciated guys

    Ta

    Kell

  7. :wavey: Hi Gail

"pootle" as in "pootling about" yeah I know what ya mean

I cant pootle about on my bike at the moment as the twin rear light bulbs have decided to melt into the lenses, so im lightless...dunno how the feck thats happened...made a right mess...so gotta get that all sorted before I can take it out :cry2:

  8. :wavey: welcome another gurly... :rah:

Dont worry about the droppage...weve all done it

Picked my bike up on the Friday night, Sunday afternoon I dropped mine trying to move it back whilst sitting on it...lost my footing...bang..! Luckily my boots & foot peg took the main impact...should see how the peg twisted around...

Anyway, point is, we all learn hey, some more expensively than others

Soz to hear about your bloke, but hey ho...everything happens for a reason so enjoy your stay here...good bunch of peeps, some good reading...

Stay safe n enjoy your new bike

    Cheers

    Kelly

  9. :wavey: hello and welcome...tis a very useful site this and a good bunch of peeps...sure you'll enjoy your stay...

Best of Luck with your bike n test

  10. My Method:-

    1. Get yourself some good paddock stands,

    2. Deploy boyfriend with an OCD for cleaning bikes armed with Yoshimoto De-Gunger brush and rags,

    3. Add Yoshimoto gold chain lube,

    4. Bobs your uncle :D

I am a lucky spud...in fact...my spud has never been so lucky... :crylaugh:

  11. :wavey: Hiya..

I also have a T Reg R6 and it was my first bike too :D

Bought mine last August, ive found with mine the clutch needs attention soon and I have just replaced chain & sprockets. Oils perfect for the age, its been maintained & changed regularly...just keep an eye on that...hoses etc

Been riding mine now almost a year and the bike still amazes me now..

  12. I saw the coolest thing a few weeks ago....Im at work and, as I always do when I hear a bike go past my window, im up like a Meerkat to see what it is and to my complete disbelief I see's a guy on a Rocket 3 with a Jack Russell in some kind of bag on the back - THE CUTEST THING EVER SEEN! The Jack Russell had matching jacket, bandana and sun glasses to its owner and all matched the paint job :lol::lol:

Couldnt believe my mince pies :crylaugh: Brilliant...

Havent got a clue on the legalities though

  13. Let’s look at the CBT. This was basically introduced as a cycling proficiency test to make sure that youngsters don’t buy a bike and get splashed as soon as they go out on the road. Now, I’m all for that but then they have to move the goal posts every couple of years. Once you have been deemed as “proficient” enough to take to the road then why, after two years, is it necessary to have to retake the course? Would you become “un-proficient” in that period? Of course not, as the CBT course has already stated that you are safe to ride on the road.

(Im all for training & stuff but I do feel that this is just another method of screwing money out of people! )

So, why all the waffle you may ask. I see all the interference from the EU and our Government as going against all common sense and another way of hitting bikers old and new in the pocket. I am all for making sure that riders are safe and competent enough not to hurt them selves or others but in an age were petrol prices are high, traffic is increasing I would have thought that it would have been prudent to encourage more people into biking of all kinds.

(The law was probably passed by people who know nothing or little about biking and who were swayed by accident statistics - dont forget, a minority of muppets end up tarnishing us all with the same brush in the authorities eyes. Stereotyped to the max for the most part.)

As far as being more economical than cars...horses for courses...some are, some arent. Depends what your looking at - a high performance bike or a 50cc?? What about a bad ass Harley popping and spluttering through your street at 4am when the owners on his way to work everyday?? Environmental Health would have a field day wouldnt they?...more food for thought there...
