The screw was there, its a recessed screw. Well I reset it to factory conditions but now it cuts out all of the time. Checked the air filter and that was dripping in oil, have cleaned it with petrol and left to dry out.

Hi guys,
Finally got it started last night after charging the battery. Not running very well thou, starts with choke and after a few seconds the revs go crazy. If I put the choke in it cuts out.
I think the mixture is wrong as the spark plug is black, can't find my mixture screw thou. Just seems to be a hole where it should be.
Thanks
Paul.

Umm... charge battery, clean and gap the plug, put fresh fuel in (it goes off v quickly). You could try turning up the tickover a bit until you get it going. Tried bumping it in 2nd? Mine prefers a r7 to the rec'd r8 plug - YMMV.
Thanks for the info.
Got the battery on charge as we speak, tried a new plug and set the gap.
Fuel might be the problem then, how quick does it go off??
Thanks
Paul.

Hi Guys,
I have a 96 SR125 which was starting ok a while ago, I haven't started it for 6 months but it has been under cover. I tried starting it the other day but it wouldn't catch. Seems to turnover ok.
I've since tried replacing the spark plug but that made no difference, seems to be a strong smell of fuel around the spark plug. Battery seems fine but will put on charge anyway.
Not sure what I should try next.
Thanks
Paul.

Thanks Jim,
I went for a D8EA in the end, got it before your I saw your post.
Bloody thing still won't start, so I don't think the plug is the problem.

I'm confused now...
Thanks

I seem to be in a similar boat to you and I own the same bike.
I've yet to go on my first long ride, still staying local and practising.
Reading whats been said has helped loads, although I'm still very nervous about it all.
Thanks
Paul.

I have a similar problem with my SR125, it will only start with a little throttle. Does this even when warmed up.
Runs fine once started thou.

Hi Guys,
Had my SR125 for a couple of months now, everything seems fine apart from the clutch doesn't seem to bite until the lever is almost right out.
Does anybody know is this normal or should I adjust it if possible?
Thanks
Paul.

All sorted now thanks.
The leads do seem rather short.

Ill have to have a look at the wireing tomorrow see if there is anything obvious that stands out but the ignition it self only has two wires and work as the nutral light goes off but the engine doesnt. guess ill have to strip all the crummy joins that somebody has done you know the type twist the wires together and tape it up with insilation tape..I have some heat shrink on order anyway and was going to solder the joins in the headlamp. but after all what do I expect I only paid £200 for the bike I will have to put some pics of when I got it and how it looks now...
Yeah I know the feeling paid £300 for my 96 Sr125

Hi Guys,
Removed both side panels, easily managed to disconnect the left hand side which is below the airbox. Still can't access the right hand side thou, seems to be too much in the way.
Grrrr!!

Havent looked, but you could try Wemoto, or M&P, MPS etc, sometimes these little bikes dont have the cannister type filter, so check your bike before you start trying to find something that doesnt exist, Most important things are bulbs all working, oil change (Filter?), Brake shoes/Pads, chain and sprocket condition, Brake fluid change (If disks)
Thanks for the info.
All sounds abit complicated to me.
