Thanks mate! You have saved me a lot of grief. It has 2 small holes on it and I thought I'd have to make some sort of tool to unscrew it. I'll get into it tomorrow. I have the seals on order. I have a TY250a and another Dt175(1980) and their seals look the same, without the steel collar!

Thanks I have the same problem. I'm waiting for a manual for the bike. The float height is 21mm, how is this measured? With the float hanging down or with the needle just touching the float?

I have a DT175e '78 model and the front forks needed new oil seals. How do I get the alloy dust collar off the lower leg? I can dismantle the complete fork assembly and cannot get to the seals with out removing the alloy collar.

Peoples, I have a fairly major fuel leak out of the fuel tap on the TY. I have dismantled the tap and found the 'diamond' shaped gasket in a worn condition. Where can I get a new gasket? Or do I have to get a new complete fuel tap?

A mate has just broken one collar in the starter motor. He says it may have back fired when kicked from cold and sheared the collar. (Uses kick starter when cold)Is this possible? He says the collar is part of the centre cases. Does he have to get new cases? Or can he get the collar rewelded? Help!
