  1. Hi Guys, just after a bit of advice really. I've got an 06 r6 with 43000 miles on the clock and I was looking at selling up for a R1. However, I was offered £1000 in p/x! It has more money than that on in accessories!

Can any one confirm that is about right? Am i kidding myself that its worth more?

The bike is in excellent condition with Gilles stuff all over it, carbon everything, Akra exhaust with de-cated stainless headers, braided hoses, Galfer discs all round and power commander.

    Thanks for your input

  2. I think you will find graphite grease will trap far more dirt! The idea of WD40 is to remove the dirt from the lock not lube it. Most of the dirt will be engrained in so a blast of air I doubt will be suffient. Maybe both together but for this defo remove cap because crap will be flying everywhere. I would advise a drop of engine oil, again as not to trap to much crap, as a lube for the lock. But hey everyone does things differently. Good luck

  3. Hi Cameron,

Get some WD40 and give it a good blast in the lock. Put key in and work the lock until it frees up. Now open the filler and angle so that the WD40 can drain out with any crud it's removed. Repeat again and then finish of by putting a drop of oil down the barrel to lube it working it in the mechanisim with the key.

Hey presto it should be fine

  4. Hi all,

I don't suppose anyone has a map for the following setup I could use until I can get mine booked in for a custom one. I have a K&N air filter, headers of a 05 model (no cat) and Akra can. I'm currently running a map from the disc that came with the PCIII but wondered if anyone had a better one.

    Cheers in advance

  5. Thats cracking! I like the sound his head makes as it hits the floor, it's like it's hollow! This would explain a few things. The nervous smile when he takes his lid off aswell, lol

Only one word can describe this fellow, and it starts with a capital C. Thats right clumsey Ha ha

  6. You'll need to know all that for your interview. Your training at Halton is what is known as basic training, i.e marching, service knowledge, lots of physical activities and ground defence (Rifle training, etc). Your trade training as a Heavy tech (same as Mechanical engineer) will be at RAF Cosford near Telford. Enjoy!

  7. Ah 101 Sqn at Brize. I worked there before moving to 18 Sqn Chinooks at Odiham. Cracking place, guys are great. Just out of interest, what AFCO you joining at?

I'm a heavy Tech and been in 11 years. Great job with plenty of travel, you'll love it.

  8. Thanks for the info guys. I remember dubbin now, my ma used to make me put that stuff on my footie boots when I was still a wee one. That will work a treat on my boots.

Well weather is good here today, 13 whole degrees. Positively a heat wave. Bike here I come!

    Thanks again for the info

    cheers

  9. Hi there,

here's a few pics of my R6. When I bought this the previous owner had toured Europe on it! It's now got 39000 miles on the clock. I have however had the shims out which were miles out. So for those that say shims never need doing, think again.

    Cheers

  10. Hi there,

Quick question, I'm torn between which leather care product to use on my gear. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm thinking Autoglym but not sure.

    Cheers Jim

  11. I've got a Iridium visior on my shoei. The reason I opted for this is it looks good and also I wear glasses. I don't wear my sunglasses on my bike as sometimes you just want to be able to see without any filters in the way and with a tinted visor this is poss by moving it up. To get around the daytime use only problem with them, just carry your clear visor with you. I've got an Oxford visor carrier and it just clips round your waist. Lets be honest, gone are the days it took half an hour to change a visor, they are all quick release mechanisms now!

  12. Yamaha put out two versions of the R6. When they introduced the new R6 in 2006 it was classed as an R6R. They also continued with the previous model but this was classed as the R6S. Therefore it is quite reasonable to see both with some younger older versions (if that makes sense).

  13. That is pricless. What do you think was going through their minds? I'm not sure what his mate does at Honda, T-boy maybe! What a bunch of idots. 10 out of 10 though, as I'm still laughing my arse off and I read it an hour ago!

  14. Hi Dan,

I went yesterday on the preview and take plenty of cash, plastic with you LOL. There is plenty to be had, I got a nice set of 1 piece leathers with a ton off and a pair of SIDI boots which should have been £260 for £150. Everything you could ever want is at the show, Bikes, bits, clothing, women in no clothing, everything. :D

    Happy hunting

  15. Sorted, it was the tensioner. I took it out again and gave it a really good clean up. Stuck it back in and hey presto, a really well sounding bike!!! Excellent.

I think you just have to keep fitting and refitting these till they adjust up properly.

    Jim :)

  16. Hi everyone,

Need help before I break down in tears!!! I've just adjusted the valve clearances on my bike and built it back up. When I first fired it up there was a loud ticking noise that can only be discribed as one of those clacker gismo you used to take to football matches. I had a play with the the tensioner and it quietened down but is still very much present. Is it usual for a tensioner to just go, it was fine before I started the work? Has anyone experienced the same?

    Thanks for your time

    Jim

  17. Hi all,

I've fitted these headers (03-05) to my bike and I'm struggling to find a reducer so that I can fit the can back on. If any one has done this and managed to source a reducer to fit, could you please post the details. Your help will be much appreciated!

    Thanks inadvance

    Jim
