  3. hi all,

im getting my first brand new bike next week (R6) and i wondered if anyone had any novel ideas for helping keep it in that new condition, does it matter if i give my wife one on it?

    Who is insuring the bike?

    Ring 08700 747374 ask for me ;)

  4. Thanks for that l was just curious, at the risk of boring you, my mate has got a zx10r (Tosser don't know why he didn't by an R1) anyway he is 40 with three years no claims and is paying 580quid will you be quote him even though the knob has a crappywaki

    thanks

I will not do it my self however as I am in the "TRADE" if he calls 08700 713000 this is Virgin Bikes Insurance. Ask to speak to Bev. If he mentions he knows me (Ryan Hancox) then they will offer a hopefully competitive quote. They have not let me down yet.

  5. Ministry of Transport Test. Done annually on vehicles over 3 years old.

I wouldnt worry about the MOT or the cost, the thing that would worry me was it makes everything else flash. ( have a look at the white box in front of the bike. The text flashes along with the lights.):lol::lol:

  6. Hi, a women in our office has been telling me all day that her and her husband both have a car each, but both cars have been registered in her husbands name. He now has a no claims bonus of five years on one vehicle and four on the other. They have swapped one of the cars into the womens name and he has transfered 4 years worth of no claims onto her, is that possible? i am curious because this women talks bollocks from 0730 until 4.30 everysingle bloody day!

    :D

Every office has them. If you have climbed everest she will have done it in a faster time juggling!

Some insurance companies will do it because she was named on the policy. However this is not standard practice. If she was to change company for example at renewal (if they put her price up) and she decides to go to tesco they will not give her the NCB. In effect its a way of securing the business for a couple of years (perhaps).

  7. Is it a multi-bike policy?  - RD 350 LC and SP1 (yes, its a Hon*a, but it THINKS its an LC ,....it wheelies, is watercooled and makes a lot of noise :P ) Both fully comp too.

What excesses are there on each bike if it is.

Does it allow temporary additional vehicles so I can ride / hire / borrow a different bike?  ( Footman James don`t as they write their own plans via Axa)

Do they do a `classic` discount for me manky old 350 LC ?

Will it cover the LC on an agreed value ?

Current cost is £ 324 fully comp.

    Paul.

We can give riding other bikes on a third party only basis. Providing acceptance to certain criteria. The best thing i can recommend is for you to call us 08700 747374 so we can take full details and look to see what we can offer.

  8. i have a shed which it will be housed in over night.  thanks for advice insurance man.  thanks for the advice people it helps a lot. a cover sounds like a good idea as well. thanks again

Not realy. The garage clause which 95% of the motorcycle insurers have states "The vehicle must be garaged all times when at the home address or no theft cover will be in place". Translated to if your bikes at home put it in the garage you lazy sod.

Seriously though a garage or shed is the best security money can buy.

  9. Hi Ryan will be phoning you on Monday.  Got offered a great deal on new R1 trading in my R6 already with YIS so need to talk things over and see what's what.

Ta Ed (Mad Irish Bird) :D

Have you called yet? How did you get on?

  10. I still haven't bought my bike yet, but when i do i'll also be getting one of those covers, to stop twits doing stupid things on the way past, like with key's or gum.  Wont stop a bike being stolen but stops the little anoying things (i hope).

The thing with DataTag & Smartwater, they dont stop the bike being stolen. They might help get the bike back but thats all. The best protection despite what anybody tells you is a garage or a shed. Having the bike out of sight gives it a 74% better chance of not getting stolen. If you cant put it in a shed or garage make sure you chain it to something. (Lamposts are good).

You will get a discount on your insurance for DATATAG (5%) most companies. You would get a much higher discount if the bike could be garaged.

  11. Here goes, six of us out last summer, wednesday evening in Lincolnshire, i am at the back as norm, all lining up for a left hander and all of a sudden everybody brakes like buggery. looked to my right at some poor sod climbing out of a ditch. Anyway as good guys we stopped and dragged his thundercat out of said ditch, by which time his mates had arrived (Number of spectators now upto about a dozen). With everything now shipshape a glib 'you watch l'l drop mine spinning round' comment, and yes you guessed it lovely red R1 on it's arse!  So the moral to the story is, you who get into ditches get your bloody selves out!!!!!!!

    :D

I do like hearing funnies like this. (unless i Insure them :cry2: .

The funniest i remeber we were all out in brighton the sun was beating down middle of summer. We had just give Chris Eubank some stick as he road around in his massive Jeep. My pal was getting realy cocky on his Gsxr 600. The pier was full of bikes and some bright spark had a suzuki banner in which all of them were gatherd. (kinda like a junk yard) However he pulls up next to a big line and within minutes 15 or so of the bikes were lying on the floor LEGEND !. Whilst i felt sorry i laughed for hours. The morale to this story SHI@ sticks together and will always end up on the floor.

  12. it's £106 atm with 9 years NCB..so i'd be expecting it to go below £100 on a 13 year old bike  :P

08700 747374 is the only number you will need.

And ask for Insurance man :wavey:

  13. can you help with us poor sods that have been banned? i got an SP50 on the motorway for doing more than a ton and got a 7 day ban, 18 months ago, lots of co's won't cover me!

  16. Hi Insurance man welcome to our little bit of cyberspace. Can l take you up on your offer of advise, I have been offered a Cat D write off. I just want to know what l can legally do with it regarding putting it back on the road. It has been stolen recovered.  Will it need/can l re-register it with a year plate or will it get the dreaded Q Plate.

    Thanks

PS Hope you enjoy the forum.

    :D

    Good morning Daglad,

Just to give you some info. On the insurance side with ourselves it makes no difference. Cat D means it was wrote off as the bike was beyond economical repair so you will probably have to contact the DVLA (probably want to set a whole day aside) 0870 240 0009 is a DVLA vehicle number. Your insurer & or the DVLA may request at least an egineers report or even an MOT. Even when the bike is fully repaired/restored it wont be worth the market value.

  17. TBH.....I've got a pretty good rate right now with my XJ750....only costs me $127 a year.......which I suspect will go down a bit more when I transfer that policy to my 550. ;)

:o You guys in the states get the insurance really cheap i would love to be able to offer uk yam riders the same. I am trying !
