  3. Hi Guys/Gals,

Just bought a cheap FZR600 (1990) after passing my test last month and I could do with some advice please.

Below 4000 revs the bike seems to stutter. I have cleaned the carbs, and the fuel tap (will replace the fuel filter this weekend). The guy i bought it off said it had stood for a while!! It has no problem starting and idling.

It does have a race can on (Art pro series 2) could the problem be the carbs need rejetting if so what size? Or could it be valve clearances or something simple like plugs?

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

hi m8 try having the carbs blanced mine is the same will get mine done if i dont get it sold ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

  6. Looking spot on.

Nice converstion you have done to the back end. Was it almost a straght swap or did you have to chop the rear end??

had to cut about 6 inches off the sub frame move a few things about had to use a smaller collent bottle and make some brackets for the r1 seat pad , i did make my own undertray was ok but now ive put a r1 undertray on , that was a pain as it had to be cut about and made good with fibre glass matting but all done and u wouldnt really no now its fitted, but now got a prob with the elecy battery wont hold a charge and it only 3 weeks old, will have to get some 1 to look at it , will post some more pics soon,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

  7. I don't know what sort of charging systems you have in the usa but if the reg/rect is getting so hot you can barely touch it, then trust me it points to over charging (or other electrical problem)! As for checking with a fully charged battery, it makes no difference as the charge should be constant as long as the system is working properly. As for a battery maintainer on a new battery, waste of money imo coz I leave my bike 1 week to the next & it always starts without a hitch (to the point that it's been left 3 months & started 3rd turn of the engine).

Mad73, have you checked for electrical shorts in your wiring? This would allow the battery to discharge when turned off if there is a completed circuit to earth (short). Just another possibilty.

thats for the advice i will get it checked out soon as , i dont have any thing to check it out so will have to take it some where .

    cheers mick
