Hi everyone, My last replacement exhaust for the XJ was a Marving 4 into two which fitted well and looked nice as well as running well. However the chrome fell off one of the silencers pretty quickly and no help was forthcoming from Marving when asked whether they thought this was acceptable (it was not) I'm now trying to sort the exhaust out again and options are extremely limited. There is one other post on these forums regarding the XJ900F exhaust where this was said: The picture no longer exists but I went to the Pipewerx site and can still find those silencers: https://www.pipewerx.co.uk/webshop/yamaha/fjr-130…

Hi All Put new sprockets and chain on my Tracer 4000 miles ago without issue and now after a winter break I have picked up a buzzing noise coming (I believe) from the front sprocket. Sounds like someone constantly tightening a zip tie. Adjusted the chain and checked alignment of rear wheel which all seem to be in order. Checked front sprocket and doesn’t look to be fouling in any way. Double checked with supplier that correct parts were sent and also measured to doubledouble check. Now I have run out of ideas so would appreciate any advice. Only thing that has changed since fitting sprockets is I took wheels off to have new tires fitted before puttin…

Hi everyone, as the title says, I cannot diagnose what is wrong with my bike. I purchased it a couple of months ago to restore, I have done quite a bit of work on it however it still does not run correctly. The bike ticks over when stationary without the choke, yet when I pull away it bogs and cuts out. If ran with the choke on, it rides absolutely fine, but doesn’t tick over when coming to a stop. When left idling with the choke, fuel comes out of the exhaust. I have added a new spark plug, coil pack, battery, and stripped, rebuilt and cleaned the carb yet the problem persists. From what is happening it sounds like a carb problem. The only other issue with the bike is th…

Hello everybody! I would assume it's not often people come here and ask about Yamaha TZR50 issues. I'm brand new to bikes, this is my first moped I am learning, and I've owned it for about a year now. It has some issues that I want to look into. It has a prebought CDI tune, and I think this CDI has caused some issues for the bike (can't be sure though, I don't have the OEM CDI). The issue is at midrange RPM, the bike struggles getting up in speed, even on flat grounds, it doesn't gain any speed at all and just remains on the same RPM and sputters like it's getting too much or too little fuel. Possibly running too rich? (I have to shift down to get up in speed)…

New here so apologies if this is in the wrong place, Around a year ago i bought the above as my first bike and it was occasionally cutting out when going into first or when idling over and i simply blamed myself for being brand new etc etc. However it still does it quite regular and its nearly always when coming to a complete stop then attempting to throttle on and set away. It gets around a quarter turn on the throttle and dies, It also takes a number of attempts to start up again and its not unknown for it to take a good 10-15 seconds before it will let me select a gear and pull away without dying (this is even when the engines hot after running for a good deal of…

Does anyone know (a) how to successfully get the metal caps out (immediately under the retaining circlip, removed with difficulty) without destroying them- mine are rusted in? or (b) where I can get new caps and O rings under? My present plan is to gently heat the top of the fork to help ease them out. Thanks, Hugh

Hi , Had my 2009 XJ6 from new and it’s on just under 70,000 miles now. Been off the road for a couple of years as I bought a Triumph Sprint GT , not that I have used that much due to ill health shortly after purchase. Unfortunately the XJ fork seal was leaking when I parked it up and subsequently has got worse so I decided to get it from workshop fix the seal and get it back on the road for my wife to ride as she has not ridden for over 5 years and it’s better as a re-introduction than her Street Triple , particularly as the ST lives at French house and XJ is in U.K. house where we live until we move permanently to France. Anyway I had been aware that the mani…

Age old story of bike meets Uber driver. I have a 1978 XS750 and since a minor collision a couple of months ago my carburettors aren’t running well at all. They are running too rich (I think) and the fuel ends up running backwards and out of the fuel box. I have taken the carburettors out and checked them throughout and given them a deep cleaning. All the seals and floats and jets all looked in very good Nick. This hasn’t resolved to issue and I really want to get the bike out in the sun. Do anyone have any advise on the issue and a fix or any leads to someone near/in London who might be able to tune the bike back into its sweet spot? many thanks in ad…

Hello, I am the lucky owner of a Yamaha XT 660X from 2004. Unfortunately, I discovered some months ago a crack in the outer tube of the fork (right). It is located where the two screws are. You can find two pictures there: https://postimg.cc/gallery/Z4sqvLQ. The crack is also present between the two screws (not visible on the pictures). According to several forums, it would be a known problem of the Yamaha XT 660X, at least of this version. Yamaha is out of stock of this part and they are not producing it any more. Speaking French and Italian, I looked for a second hand spare part. However, Yamaha changed the design of the outer tube between 2005 and 2006. I only fo…

Hi all, I started hearing some grinding noise coming from the rear wheel. Was unable to feel anything strange in the wheel when lifted up on a stand so continued riding. The noise got worse so I took the rear wheel out and found out the bearing inside the chain carrier had completely blown apart and I just had some scraps left in place. Now I have replaced the rear wheel bearings and the chain carrier bearings. This feels good again but now I have a different problem. This could be what caused the bearing to fail before, or the other way around. I'm not really sure how to describe the issue (not native English speaker) but I'll try my best. When I have the bi…

Hi there I've just joined the forum hoping for some advice on this problem. I'm not a mechanic but always happy to read manuals, ask advice and try things and am handy enough with tools. The ybr isn't my main bike, I had been using it from time to time and as a backup but couple years ago it stopped starting, now I'm trying to get it back to life .. as an economical alternative to big bike and cause I like it. This is a YBR 2007ED fuel injected bike. So after sitting for a couple of years, the problem had been fuel pump which wasn't working .. I replaced the impeller, and hey presto was riding up and down the road. I left it alone with plans to service brakes…

I use a pair of DTR 125 carbs they are 28mm flat slide mikuni TM. The throttle slide needles could do with replacing so I bought a couple of repair kits and it turned out that the throttle needles in the repair kits are way shorter than the original. Been on the Fowlers site and genuine Yamaha is £75 each 🙃 Allens performance do not stock them or get them as apparently they were made by Mikuni especially for Yamaha. Would anybody know what repair kit year I need to get or anywhere that can supply the throttle needles aftermarket or genuine at sensible prices. Thanks

My Ace has been a little poorly, my swingarm stopped... lol After much deliberation I decided to do it myself. It actually turned out that the swingarm bearings were fine, it was my suspension rocker linkage. ALL the bearings in it were toast (insert regular maintenance comments here...)! THEN it turned out that my rocker linkage had a manufacturers defect, so I had to go get one from E-Bay... After MUCH buggering about, I got it all cleaned up and fixed! However... Once it was all back together, and everything worked, it turned out that my rear shock was toast!!! It made for quite a bouncy ride home! rofl So, here's…

Brake/clutch bleeding... So, I forked out for a relatively cheap but decent vacuum bleeding kit, it 'works', but you still get a bit of bleed past through the bleed nipple threads. I'm told that a pressure bleeder is MUCH better. But, which one? Anyone know about these things? Are there different ones for cars & bikes? They're not cheap, so I don't wanna pick the wrong option, any suggestions? And, do any of them work with non standard (read that as not round) reservoir?

Hello, I am looking to replace blocked injector on my YBR125 (2007 model). It appears that YBR125 injector is far more expensive compared to YZF125 or WR125. Could anyone please help me with the following: 1. What is the flow rate of original injector fitted in ybr125 (2007)? 2. Can I use slightly higher flow rate injector? 3. Are YZF or other Yamaha 125 injectors (with two pin connection that look same as ybr125 injector) actually same in physical dimension? Thanks in advance.

As per title im after an aftermarket quick-shifter, blipper recommendation for my Tracer 900, 2017. I say aftermarket because as far as I know, adding the OEM one wouldn't give downshift / blip. I've been looking at this one from HM: http://hmquickshifter.com/?post_type=product&p=8828&preview=true But I'd like to hear first hand feedback from other forum users on what they have fitted.
