Hi everyone! ;-) I have recently purchased a Drag Star XVS125 for my soon to be 18yr old son around 3 weeks ago. I have trawled the Internet looking for a Haynes type manual so he can get into some low level maintenance and basically get to know the bike. I am also trying to find him a bikers club if there is such a thing in the Renfrewshire area(Erskine, near to Glasgow Airport) if anyone knows of one or somewhere he can learn more about motorbikes and how they work? Any assistance or advice would be most welcome as I personally have not one clue about motorbikes!! That said, the Drag Star is a cracking looking bike and it has put me in the mood to give biking a try! …

Hi to all, Its good to find a site that I can get some advise. I have just purchased a 2001 XVS650 Dragstar (My first Yam) It came with Raask 2" Pipes. I think the previous owner has used the stock front header pipe to fit them because the pipe looks older and its holed at the front, this was well hidden from me when I bought the bike with some filler and silver spray. GREAT eh? anyway im stuck with it now. Anyone know where I can get a very cheap replacement????

Hi all, I recently traded my R1 for my 1st ever cruiser. I am currently working for a foreign mission in Africa, due to no qualified technicians here, one local bike repairer tried to help start my bike and in the process fried the ecu. I have searched online to see if I could get a fairly used one but can't find anyone breaking for spares. Does anyone know where I can pick one up or can I use a compatible ecu and what model bike would it be ? Please help as my bike is grounded for now

Hi Guys, Just joined the group have been riding Yams for awhile now started of with a Fazer 600, went to a Fazer 1000 and then R1, however recently came back from a trip to OZ where i rode Harley Softtail around Ayres rock and fell in love with a cruiser.......Enter the Midnight Star XVS950!! took it for a test ride and fell in love bit of a differnace but hey life is all about change. I have heard that you can mod the air box to enable cool air and get the bike sounding abit beefer, wondering if any one else has done this and the procedure and what the final outcome was. happy riding!!

Hi One and All, I've got a 2010 XVS950A which is playing up when starting, (or NOT, as the case may be). On 2 separate occasions, the bike has failed to start, depite repeated attempts, for 20 mins. Turn the key and the speedo needle and warning lights all perform as they should, press the start button and the engine turns, but won't fire. Then, for no reason, the bike decides to start on the umpteenth attempt. I've taken it back to the main dealer, who couldn't replicate the problem and told me that they could find nothing wrong and that I'd have to take it back if it happened again. I assume that the Yahama engine management system, (or whatever performs fault tracing/d…

Thanks for giving your attention! Brand new poster here, living in Argyll Scotland, and trying to get my bike finished to enjoy all these backroads in super scenery, plus save on the Distilled Angels Tears now called petrol!! It's my first bike for some years, i picked up a Yamaha 660 Tenere, 1997, to find that they aren't too common, and i need an exhaust box....mine is probably the uncool and SQUARE version (nearly literally) and probably cheapest if i can find one, but maybe it'll have to be a racy modern version. My Tenere has no XT's Z's or X's with its name on the bike or log book. Anyone got one, or know of an after sales manufacturer, please? Ta

Hi everyone I have just restored, for the first time, this beauty. Though for some of the more skilled tasks, I had to ask for help from the LBS. Just wondered where the best sources are for spares new and old is in the UK. Also, its colour - was it manufactured in any colours other than black and white? Cheers and safe riding!

Hello, I have just purchased a 1995 yamaha sr 125 as a project. i knew when i bought it there was an issue with the fact it starts and ticks over, but as soon as you ride it within 5 mins, it starts to loose power. i purchased it at a very good rate from a garage, who say, that given time and lots more of my money for looking at it, they could solve it, however id rather have a go myself. They say, they think its electrical, as the starter swicth on the right side and the horn on the left side have been bypassed and replaced with a couple of ugly buttons on the handle bars. My plan is to put the bike back to its orginal spec, but I am wondering if there are any po…

I have the above 51 year old bike which has been in store for 15 years or more. It is in fair condition and the engine turns over the brakes operate. I am wondering whether to sell it on as is or do a full job on it to bring it right up to standard. I know very little about the model and if I can get any necessary parts or a workshop manual? How many of this model were made and what it’s value might be. Any info gratefully received, Ian.
