In 2000 i had just purchased the Suzuki GSXR 600 Alstare Corona. I kept it for a year before thinking, this things going to kill me ! . I was just turned 40 with 30 years on bikes... yes 30. From a NSU Quickly 50 at 10, Bantam 150 at 12, Starfire 250 at 14. Then 16 and my first provisional license and the immortal Fsie (Fizzy) . A string of bikes followed until the GSXR. I thought its time for something softer and was looking at Bandits but they were everywhere .It was then that i came across this little beauty, the owner had passed away age 32 of a heart attack and his family were moving it on. Long story short that was 2002 and we are still together. She is my Top cat

Greetings. I'm a first time motorcycle owner and I recently picked up a very used Yamaha XJ650J. Now I'm not a total noob when it comes to mechanics. I'm over 40 and been a mechanic of one kind or another for most of my life. This bike has sat for a few years and wasn't in good running shape so I did some work. I dumped the remaining fuel out of the tank and cleaned the petcock fuel filter (had some bits of rust in there.) Cleaned out the carbs (had lots of very fine rust powder built up in there.) Put in new plugs. Changed out the drive line oil and just changed out the engine/transmission oil and filter. Now the manual says the engine oil should be 3.3 US Quarts (wit…

I live in West Yorkshire and am semi-retired. When I was in my late twenties I proddy raced a 250LC, and Hillclimbed a 350LC along with a 500cc Pantah. Traded my 748 Ducati 12 months ago for a 1982 RD350LC Hybrid (originally German). Has had lots done to it but standard engine, and much lighter than the Duke - I'm 61 and was worried about dropping the 748 when getting my leg over

Hi good people Just signing in as a newby. After having both knees replaced in total,I can no longer bend them enough to handle the BMW1200GT safely or in comfort. Just purchased a new XVS1300, only driven a few miles so far but feels right, comfortable and safe. Just a bit miffed at the lack of noise at the rear end though......any tips to increase the decibals without killing the warrenty would be gratefully received. Regards Tony

I have a TW125 and what a pin it has been to get a manual so far best I have beeen told is get a A Yamaha SR125 manual as it is close. Mt mate and me stripped and rebuilt it now the gearbox has jammed Back wheel will only turn so far forward so far back, gear selector will not move the ? to change the gear. And my tip is a Dogs testicles one The special tool to hold the clutch we did not have one so all I did was use a Tie down strap (thin and long) go round so far and the hook was secured eventually it tightend up and gripped the inner basket to enable me to undo the nut, as it applied equal pressure and no metal on metal it was safe and cheaper than the specail tool r…

Oh wise ones ov the West, i wonder if anyone could tell me the thickness ov new clutch plates for a TY 175 (Twinshock). im helping a friend who has jus bought it, to get it on the Road/Fleld again and the clutch "felt" (as its not running yet) very "loose" so took the plates out and they look pretty thin (3.3mm) and smell very burnt. Would new plates help or is it maybe the springs? or even the Clutch pushrod bearing (if this model has such a thing, (my old 250 did.)) Thanx all Seana XXX

Hi all, I've got a TRX850 and I've just bought a ty 50. The ty is a barn find and has been used off road and has had all lights and clock taken off. It's missing the number plate and logbook too. Normally I wouldn't buy a bike like this but it came through a friend as part of a garage clearance. The engine and frame numbers are present and matching. Is there any way I can trace the plate from the frame number? Thanks Jason

Greetings First time caller from South West London. I am hoping that someone might offer their opinion on some new rubber wear for my 1990 R Exup. The bike was off the road betwen 2000 and 2008 and with a bit of TLC from a friend she has been resurrected. Currently she has very old Battleax on. I don't use her very much (she only has 15K from new) and I tend to do nice dry miles in the country so long life wear is not an issue and something grippy would be nice. Also the manual states a 170 rear. She has always had a 180 on since I've owned her which looks better but I'm hoping someone can remind me of the difference. Thanks

Many many years ago I was the proud owner of a DT125R. Now my son has reached the ripe old age of 17 and has asked for a motor bike to get around. I have purchased a 1990 TZR 125 in need of some TLC so I will be on here alot asking for advice. First question I would ask is am I mad? Second question is do any of you know any good suppliers of quality second hand parts. Thanks in advance Steve
