Turn on the ignition key all lights etc working but starter button dead, with a bit of investigating (reading the haynes manual)I found that if I unbolt the stand switch and tie it to the frame it starts? I have tested the switch with a metre and cleaned the wiring connections and it seams fine also tested the clutch switch and swapped the relays etc, Can anyone help? Thanks Kevin

Hi, bought my son a dt125. Previous owner tried to convert it to off road but after cutting all wires and removing lights etc he gave up and we bought as it was non runner. It is a 2000 model I think and would appreciate any advice on wiring and cdi to achieve a spark. Thanks

Hello everyone i have joined your great forum today after browsing posts this weekend.i have dt125r which I am repairing for my 17 year old son.Sam! Having problem with powervalve positioning and type. My barrell and head is type BN Have fitted barrell piston and head from spare engine . New gaskets used.piston and bore is+1.5mm. My problem is the powervalve when set in locked position has rubbed on side of piston and caused rings to Jam in grooves. Now I need a new piston ! Does anyone know if there are different powervalve sizes . I fitted powervalve from barrell and head code MB which would not fit in unless modifying. Have tried 180' but it in open position .have…

Hey all ... New to here .. Trying to help a very stressed friend. I found the DT for him for his sons birthday. It's a bit of an old nail but all there(ish).. We have been trying to get it to run for a while without success , but noticed that one of the wires (red/white) from the pick up wasn't looking great. Re soldered it and she started!! It ran for nearly five minutes the stopped and now WILL NOT EVEN FIRE.. Really clutching at straws here but thinking crank seal??? If I put my hand over the carb mouth and kick it over my hand gets soaked in petrol ???? The plug seems quite dry considering the number of times we've kicked it over.. Would expect it to be soaked ??? Tr…

Hi all, recently aquired a 96 DT125R to go with my Tiger 955i. Mainly want it for greenlaning around east sussex/kent area. Will be looking for advice on tyre choices, gearing etc. Great bikes, always liked them. Only had one Yam before, a 1978 XS250 which I owned from 80-82, I loved it but it wasn't to cool at the time when the RD250's were most hooligan's weapon of choice!

Hi Guys & Girls, Just thought I would say hi and introduce myself. I have been riding bikes since I was 16, starting with a fizzer (Yamaha FSIE-DX), and over the years I have had various different types of bikes, including DT100, DT 175, X7, 350 YPVS, GS 850, ZX10, RD125, CX500, YZ 125 (road legal). And now I have a GPX 750R which I have had for about 13 years now. Although, by today’s standards it not very quick, I don’t get any problems keeping up with most people on the road. For my play thing and work transport I have a DT125R 90MY. I have been reading this forum for about a month now whilst I have been rebuilding my DT125R, but this is the first time I …

Hi All, I just wanted to say hi to everyone and that I hope that I can keep you updated through the below journey and no doubt will need your support at some stage. I should say that I have never undertook a project like this before but am inspired by some of the work you guys have done. I own a 1996 DT125R and have done for over 8 years but had been running on my friends farm, however it has been sitting in the shed dormant for around 4 years. A few weeks ago I decided to sell it to clear space in the shed, but once people started making me offers etc I got cold feet and decided that I don't want to sell but return her to her full glory (albeit with a new look). I …

Hi there, I'm new to the forum and was hoping to get some expert advice. I've just started using the DT again after about 3 months of it being stood. It rode fine for about 100 miles yesterday then when I took it out today after replacing spark plug, it went 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, N and nothing else! no grinding or funny noises, just a neutral where 5th gear should be. I changed the oil today afterwards but that's made no difference. It has also been slipping out of 2nd gear into neutral. I think it could be a selector fork but I won't know until I take her for surgery. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks, Pete

Hello folks! My name is Phil, i am 50 and "emigrated" to London in the early 90's - job relocation and the love of a good woman, so they say! Anyway, after spending many years of storage in my parents garage, my 1981 DT175 MX and i have finally been reunited! She needs a bit of TLC but it's only minor things, such as the fuel tank being cleaned of the sediment, a new seat and i will also replace the chain and sprockets for good measure, as these are a little worn. I initially got interested in the DT when i seen my neighbour with a 1973 model. As i was a schoolboy at that time, buying one was out of the question. However, once i was a little older i stumbled in…
