new to bikes. been over 20 years since i was even on a push bike! Did CBT a few days ago. Always wanted to get a bike but it never seemed to be the appropriate point in time. Jumped in today and bought a YBR along with a rushed visit to the local motorcycle shop for safety equipment. I've been a mixture of a Bull in a china shop and a wee boy in a sweetie shop the last few days. Looked at everything from CBR through Varadero, CG and everything in between; settled on YBR as a good machine to build up some much needed experience. I guess my ultimate aspirations are the Honda CB 250 or the Yamaha XS 250 - but all in good time. I have loads of questi…

At 54 years young I have managed to persuade my wife to allow me to have a bike again. I have previously only ridden road bikes but feel the need for something different, so I tracked down a 1991 Yamaha XT660 Z Terene at a price I like. Therefore after a break of 30 years I am due to be back in the saddle again

Hi everyone this is to introduce myself, I am no spring chicken but have had classic british café racers for a long time and at the moment have a 1960 Triton which is a hybrid Norton slimline featherbed frame and a pre unit 650 triumph bonneville engine and box uprated to 750, I have joined because lately I have been drawn to an early R1, I rode my mates a few months ago and what power I felt 16 again but doubt I have a 16 yr old's bottle anymore, anyway any guidance and advice welcomed and best place for insurance as the company I am currently with only deal with pre 80 stuff and do not have or give no claims discount

Greeting to all, I'm a bit of a Yam head and had a few over the years along with Kawasaki's, Suzuki's and of course Honda's but keep coming back to Yamaha. I'll be looking for a good read as I'm always on the look out for info.

Hello from sunny South Oxfordshire, first time on a forum so please be gentle... I recently picked up an FZR1000 Genesis (1988 black) as I'm getting a bit too old and tired of kicking over reluctant British iron! so going back to my youth... hoping I can pick your collective brains on getting it sorted. Cheers Don't have a photo of it yet so is one of the Commando okay?

Hi All Just going through registration of my old RD250DX in Dubai, just air freighted out from UK. Hoping to get a little less smokey before I have to register at RTA. Not many old two strokes seen aroundfout here. Any tips on getting the mix right to get less of a smokey trail? Cheers.

I'm a retired electrical engineer, selling my last bike (a Kawasaki 900 Z1 street bike) over 30 years ago. I just bought a 175 CT1 -- one of the classic 2-strokes from my growing up. I'm looking to do trail riding on a fun 2-stroke dirt bike. Bill (AKA Williamdor)

Evening everybody. I've been a member on here for quite a while now and although i don't get to come on very often it has occurded (but only when pointed out to a new member) that i to hadnt been to say a big hello, or even a small hello for that matter to you all. Please forgive me my ignorance, i think i must be suffering from the dreaded old timers. Well i guess you would have to call me a born again biker, although i started many years ago at the sweet tender age of 16 on a scooter, then the ball and chain with family followed so into the damn cage i went like all good (daft) daddies do. Now at the ripe old age of 58 I'm back on 2 wheels again and loving every…

Hi Everyone, I'm Marcus from up T'North Manchester, I say Oldboy (not that old really) coz I've been in the bike trade for what feels like forever.... probably should have joined this community a while back but, all things considered, you could say I was later than most where the internet is concerned, if that makes sense? Having bought another Yamaha recently I was hoping for a little advice in regards to an accessory but I won't mention that yet as I'm here to simply say Hi! I've owned a lot of different bikes over the last 20 years (all Jap apart from a new SYM last month), there are still bikes out there that I would love to own, Dragstar 650 next would be good…

Greetings All! I come here like so many others, seeking wisdom. I suspect the information i seek is already here, buried deep in the pages of this forum, just waiting to be found by entering appropriate key words in the search function. So i hope no one minds while i dig around, in an attempt to get a VERY rough looking 1980 YAMAHA 400 special in roadworthy condition for my wife to kick around town on. I will share info on how i ended up with this gem later! (sometimes even FREE is not enough!) Thanks in advance! Scotty

Hi Been 40 years since I owned a bike - Now living in Cornwall in the UK and eager to get back out on the road. I have a question and looking for a bit of advice. I want to buy a good Yamaha Vigaro 535 but worry that I'm to big for the bike. I'm 6' tall (1.86 m ) and weight about 17st (105 kg). Is there a difference in height between the 535 and 750. Your opinion will be appreciated Regards

I've heard that you aren't a real biker until you've fallen off ... So in that case, initiation complete! (I'm completely fine by the way!)

Hi everyone, been riding for 15 months or so - a YBR125 for a year and then an XJ600S Diversion. Getting in to biking is one of the best decisions I ever made! That's about all I've got for now, here's to the impending spring! Cheers
