Hi all. Brand new rider from western Europe here. Picked up an SR125 on the cheap, but in great shape. I love riding it for my daily commute and experience the "character" of an older carbureted engine. Cheerz!

Hi all, Just bought my first bike - a little ybr - and happily found this community. I have a question about weather protection. I feel prepared rain wise apart from one issue: How do people stop rain going down/up your neck? Any tips very welcome. Thanks

I'm a very new rider - been on the road for about a month. My name is Miguel, I'm 19 and I live in the far reaches of that wonderful place known as Essex. Anyway, I came here because I will be needing probably quite a bit of advice on my bike. I picked it up rather cheap and as life will tell you.. you get what you pay for. The model is a 1997 (I was told, think it might be '98. Not sure there) Yamaha Virago XV 125. I don't mind that it needs work, in fact I prefer this as it gives me a chance to get to know my bike as well as to get general experience with tinkering and the like. It's something I'm quite enthusiastic about. The girl certainly has character anyway,…

Hi all My name is Alistair. I'm 36, happily married and have a daughter of 6. I stay in Gordons Bay, close to Cape Town, in South Africa. I ride a '96 Yamaha XJ600N, my first 'Big Bike' I've joined here to connect with like minded people and get some technical insight into my bike, as I see many parts are not so easily obtainable in South Africa. Cheers Alistair

Hiya All, I'm Samantha, a lady from Cumbria, UK. Fell in love with a Yamaha Dragstar at a petrol station a few years ago, a lady owner who had toured Europe. I had great admiration for her, I asked and she let me have a sit on her bike and I decided that one day I would have one and tour on it!! Its taken a while to get past my CBT and invest in my first motorbike. I got myself a YBR125 Custom.....still building up my confidence toward my A, then gonna get myself my dream bike. Thought I'd join this club to keep my confidence up, looking forward to the info, wisdom, advice and knowledge. Pleased to be here!!! Sam

After many years on v-twins, I need something a bit less high-maintenance, though still good performance. Got an offer on a Thunderace from a mate, so this is the current steed: 2001 reg, 12k miles. Planned mods are: YZF750 swingarm & hugger EBC sintered brake pads Pazzo levers Techspec kneegrips Lots of polish so you'll probably see some random and newbie-level queries in the next few months! Hi all. I'm Ric. I purchased a '97 Thundercat yesterday and I am ridiculously happy. The weather yesterday was somewhat appropriate considering the bikes model lol. Unfortunately I didn't get to ride her on the roads, after stupidly failing my mod2, but I wanted the bike bad enough. So till I re-test I'll get some time to tinker and ensure she's just the way I want her. There are a few things to take care of just like on any used bike. Tyres as they look slightly squared off. Alarm fob's need replacing - but the alarm itself is hunky dory. I also want to get the oil and filter changed. And sort the breaks - The reservoir has been filled past max level, and I feel…

Hi every one, my names Rob. And i at the age of 29 have turned to 2 wheels. About a month ago I purchased a 2000 model Aprillia Ralley 50. Had to get a load of work done to it and threw a bit of money at it aswell. Cut a long story short it didnt go to plan and im now a couple of hundred quid out of pocket with a lemon of a bike. But theres light at the end of the tunnel in this sad tale hahaha. Today I went to my local yamaha dealers and ordered a Brand New YBR 125!! And i will be picking it up some time next week and im very excited!! I havnt had much road time since I done my CBT due to my terrible eye for purchasing bikes. Cant wait to get on here an have some good ch…

Hi folks, Recently got myself a SR125 for a little commuter runaround., it's a great little bike. I'll be sure to get a few pics on soon. Had a problem getting it started the other day though, after filling up I tried to start her up but no joy. Hit the starter and could hear the solenoid click but the motor wouldn't turn. Luckily another friendly biker was on hand and after a quick check diagnosed the starter to be faulty. Does anyone know how I could check this for certain? Thanks

Hi there and at the age of nearly 65 I'm very new to biking. Having never ridden a motorbike in my life (5 minutes on my brother-in-law's old honda 40 years ago barely counts!) I bought myself a Moped a year ago, a Yamaha Neos 50. It had been off the road for many years, so I took it apart and rebuilt it with the help of various internet sites and got it through an MOT. It was great fun riding it around and my son-in-law, who is a mad keen biker told me I'd soon be hooked. He wasn't wrong and in July my grandson and I did our CBT, very pleased to pass. He has a Yamaha YS and I've now got the son-in-law's old Yamaha XT 125R, which, again, needed a lot of fixing to get it r…

Hi there, I am new to the biking world, I have passed my CBT and I am currently taking lessons to start my direct access. I own a 1991 Yamaha SR 125 which I am trying to restore to its former glory, a lot of people have told me not to as its my first bike but I say why not? I love riding the bike so why not give it some well deserved TLC. Hi to everyone here at Yamaha Owners Club

Hey all! My name is Adam, and it was my goal this summer to try and get my dad's 78 DT400 running so I could start learning how to ride, and so I could get my M class. Unfortunately, I've run in to a snag and didn't get it running yet, but I'll talk more about that in another post. I'm new to bikes, but I've been messing with cars for a few years. I'm on my third Camaro, which is a 1999 Z28 that I have some big plans for, and I have a 1996 Z71 K1500 that I'm just trying to keep going until I can afford something a little more reliable. I'm new here, but I'm not new to forums, there's a few others that I'm a member on, as well. As the nicer whether comes to a close, I…

Hey all, First time here. Did my CBT the other week, got myself a 2005 YBR the week after and previously had never touched a bike. I was always into cars (still have a 96' Honda Integra Type R parked outside) but as though almost overnight I got the urge to ride a motorcycle. I can't really explain it but i'm loving it so far! Anyway i'm here to pick up a few tips and join in the banter. Here's a little pic of her: https://www.dropbox.com/s/y3q7i14sfdavgz1/ybr.jpg

Good evening! I hope you all managed to find a gap in the rubbish weather this weekend and get out on your bikes. I’m a new Yamaha owner based on Anglesey, North Wales.....well I found an old Yamaha YB100 Deluxe 1989 on the wife’s parents farm. She allowed me take it home and finally do my CBT with the aim of a full bike test early next year once I’ve saved my pennies. So the first plan is to use the little YB for a few months! I must admit I’m having no end of dramas with it at the moment as she’s been stood still in a barn for the past 4 years.....but that’s for another thread. I look forward to learning from you guys! All the best, Yan Sent from my …

Hi folks, Well here i am at 40 with my first bike, a yammy ybr 125. Never really thought about biking until my son, who turned 16 last year asked me to do the cbt with him for support. Here i am now with my full test booked in for the second week in april. My 125 has been great fun to learn on, but 8 months on, hitting 9k revs at 75mph is getting a touch annoying lol. Anyway, all things well i should be part exchanging next moth for something bigger. Attempting my first oil change tomorrow, i let the garage do the first one. Does anyone know how much oil i will need please? I know its 10w/40 just not sure of the amount, Kindest regards, Denver
