Hi picking up a XSR900 tomorrow after 15 months on a Triumph Tiger Sport 1050. Looking forward to it very much. Also own a 1994 Virago 535 which I'm 'renovating'! Had a few other Yams in the past, a DT175 MX, and a Vmax 1200 with aMoto Guzzi Breva 1100 and BMW RT1100 inbetween. Retired so I have a lot of riding time!

Hey I'm Axel. I'm originally from Germany and moved here a few years ago. I'm a hobby mechanic but I am starting college classes for mechanical engineering so hopefully my mechanical skills will improve. My current choice for tinkering is a 1975 DT175. This was my budget but but it's been a good get around town bike. It has an aftermarket clark tank and the seat is torn up so I decided I'd start changing it to my liking. Other than cosmetic upgrades I am trying to work on the electrical system (6V ro 12v) to allow other aftermarket parts to work with it. Any tips are welcome!! When it comes to carbureted bikes my greatest weakness is tuning them. Where I l…

Hi There, I am 63 years old and live in Brisbane Australia. The last time I rode a bike was my Honda Dream back in the late 60's. I recently purchased a 2009 Yamaha XVS650 Classic and I am riding it around the the back streets where I live (unlicenced) but intend to go on the LAMS course to get my RE licence (I let my Motorcycle Licence laps back in the 70's) My wife is very concerned about the dangers on the road these days and I must admit I am a little worried also but I figure if I ride defensively I should be OK. Bikes and accessories have changed enormously since the 70's and the options appear endless. I know I will be visiting this site often as there appears…

Hi, My name is Simon and I am knocking on the door of 50. I am in the process of returning to biking after a 30 year break. The only two bikes I owned in my youth were a P reg DT125 and a 1981 RD 250LC. Luckily I managed to pass my test just before I sold the LC to buy a car! I think I'm having a mid life crisis because I am once again after a Yamaha 2 Stroke of 1980 vintage (wish I'd kept the LC it was a year old when I sold it for £800). This forum is a goldmine of information. Apologies in advance for what I think may be a lot of questions! Best regards to all Simon (Newbie)

Oops, managed to make my first post without introducing myself! I'm up in Crieff, Scotland with a 1977 DT250MX in pretty good nick until I started to meddle and discovered bodge jobs from front to rear, no matter I'm working my way through them. I'm no stranger to bikes but the arrival of two Sprogs resulted in me being advised strongly to get rid of the bike! I then bumped into a lad in the pub who had this bike lying in his shed for 14 years and had barely used it, a couple of beers later I found myself trudging back to the house with the bike! Story so far: Exhaust manifold studs snapped off in the head - fixed Bodged bearing spacer in back wheel - fixed St…

Good people, New member in South West UK. Looking at getting an XVS950 midnight star for commuting, bit of cruising and a bit of two up riding for myself and my wife which may tip it to the 1300. I'm 6'3 roughly 15st, mrs is 5'1 and 8st. Anybody do much two up on the 950? It wont be much as mrs isn't much into bikes but don't want to be under powered when we do go for a jaunt.

I am a new member and have joined this forum hoping to get some advice and guidance. My 15 year old son is interested in doing restoration work on motor cycles and cars. He has recently been given a Yamaha Chappy model LB80II-A which needs quite a bit of working to get going. We have searched around on the internet to see what we can find out about these motor cycles but don't seem to find much information. I am concerned that he will need to spend money to get it back into working order and am keen for him not to waste money that he may not get back. Are these motorbikes worth anything? Can anybody suggest how I might find out more information about them?
