What happens if you leave this switch on prime? Is this bad? I left it on overnight. Also, if you watch your gas levels is it ok to leave this switch on reserve ?? Thanks.

My YB has been has been peeeing fuel out of the overflow pipe for a while now, so i took the carb off today and discovered that one off the floats is letting fuel in, hence not shutting the float valve. anyone know where i can get new floats or a new carb?

my petcock was leaking, so rebuilt i rebuilt it. all new gaskets and vacume still leaking on and res settings.

Hey everyone! I have a 1978 XS400 2E that I'm looking to sell. It is fully disassembled and in boxes. The bike was in decent shape when I got it (engine has compression, no dents). I was planning on rebuilding into a cafe racer, but really need to focus on other areas of my life right now. I picked up some parts along the way like an extra seat, fat rear tire and wheel from an '81 (If memory serves me right), new spark plugs, oil filter, etc. I've done quite a bit of cleaning and it looks like it'll be a simple rebuild. Hi, Does anyone have any info, or a website I can look at for parts for my bike. I can't find much info on a google search I want a picture of what one looked like in its hey-day. I need to get a few things for my bike, like a body panel and a new seat. Whilst I can find websites that can sell me mirrors and gasket kits, the same cannot be said for the seat and the body panels... Also, the battery needs charging. The battery is new but has sat for awhile. I was told this is a 6volt battery, so will a normal car battery charger (12v) blow my battery up? SArah

what tire sizes should i get? 18" 3.00 front 18" 3.75 rear so what does that break down to? 18" 100 front? 18" 120 rear?

Hi guys, I'm a bit of a paranoid bugger and I'm fairly worried about people siphoning fuel from my YB100 because it's not a locking fuel cap and it's autolube, meaning the 2-stroke oil isn't in the fuel. Is there any locking filler cap solutions or would I need to chop in a whole new neck to the tank? Thanks!

Hi guys, I've just bought my dads XS400SE 1981 ( he's just got the 650 version) anyway i want to get it on the road but i'm restricted to the 33bhp license. My local bike shops want to charge me 200 quid for the privelige of a couple of washers in the intake manifold to restrict it. Well i want to make my own up as I'm not gonna pay £200 for a pair of washers!! Could anyone help me with how much of an opening should be left in the washer?? I've attempted to make a few up and ill post a picture, any comments welcome. Also does anyone know of a dyno in cornwall where i can go to get it tested?? Cheers, Rich

Bought an xt 250 to use off road it needs some parts but as it has no frame or engine number i have no idea of its age making it difficult to order the correct parts. Is there any way of knowing its age without the frame and engine numbers? Thanks

Great forum here ... glad I found it. my question is this: I just bought an old 76 TY250 ... it needs work but I love them. It started first kick when I got it home ... ran it around the property for about 2 mins and then the throttle cable snapped. The oil injector is disabled so the throttle cable is just a single to the carb. Anyway ... I had a new cable made up ... but now the bike wont start. Maybe 1 out of 10 kicks it catches for just a second then dies. Pulled the plug and kicked it ... getting what appears to be strong spark every kick. any thoughts?

Alright, so I replace the coils. It fires right up. Next day, no spark. Coils still test ok, so I replace the pickup. Fires right up. 3 days later, no spark. Next step is to start going through the wiring (i've already cleaned all the contacts / sprayed them) and actually replace it, I guess. Any ideas?!?!

are the tx and the xs 500 basically the same bike, except sold in different markets? i found this tx500 engine on ebay....... and i have an xs500b. think its worth it? it has the same engine model stamp (371) so i assume that it is the same engine. any thoughts?

Hi all, Here is my latest project, A 1975 TX500 (I belive thats an XS500 inthe US, Ihe bike has Australian compliance plates, date of manufacture 11/1975). She runs and starts quite well although gutless, not bad considering only one cylinder is firing! Are ther any 500 owners who have undertaken this project? $800 without seeing the bike - so far so good! Have sourced replacement camcase cover for cacked one, ebay seems to have the largest variety of parts and constantly changing stock - are there any other good sources for parts? ok....finally got all my starting problems solved. and new a new one pops up. as i release the cluch for 1st gear to engage you can feel take hold, but at a very slow, if not all 100% engagement (hoping this makes sense). What could it be? I did a search on this topic but could not find any info. Thanks. Robert'

Below is a pic of my spark plug wire that I need to replace. After I took the tank off I noticed it is connected to some other part (I simply just can't take the wire). Looks as if I need to replace whatever this tan thing is too. Anyone else replace a bad spark plug wire? This is a large photo (so you could see good). Might take a minute to load. Please help if you can. Thanks. UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE ok I determined that this is an ignition coil. The plug wire can not be removed. The entire coil needs to be replaced. I did some searching and found this little guy new coil but it looks different. Anyway there you go...just in case anyon…

Hi, I have been asked to paint a yamaha rd250 (think it's an early 70's model) for a friend, he'd like it done in a yamaha shade which I can only describe as a "burnt orange" shade, I need to know the exact colour name or/and the paint code, can anyone help me on this.
