right, i have a 2007 yamaha dt50r de restricted. its all completely standard. i drilled the hole out of the exhaust and cut a bigegr hold in the airbox. put a 110 main jet in the carb. its been running fine for about a month but yesterday it emlted the aprk plug. so i went out, got a new iridium plug. and went out today, all went fine..untill about 30mins into the ride. there was the same 'burrr' noise at high revs and the power went, let off the throttle and stopped. waited for 5mins. then started her again. rode her home (about 10mins) then thrashed her down the road, i think it all fouled the plug but not quite meleted. gouing too check in a second. is it running t…

Can we shorten the back shock? putting it on the lower mount hole is not quite good enough for a beginner, Peeking at the shock it looks like it may have a spacer at the top that I can shorten till my girlfriend gets the hang of it. Already dropped the forks an inch Not much weight on her so not really worried about lowering the back

hi there, i'm thinking of buying a dt125 x the super moto version, just wondering if the engine has chaned much from the older type, i used to own a 1988 dt125r so i'm familier with the power valve, i know there is a servo motor kit to make better use of the power, will this kit fit on the newer engines, eg 2005 i can remember with the powervalve closed it was responsive down low but lacked top end pull, but open there was a big flat spot in the middle of the rev range any advice appreciated cheers, nick

Hi everyone- I just started resurrecting a 1978 DT400E with 7,000 miles on it. Don't have a manual yet, but it's on order. I'll be spending a lot of time on these forums, I just know it. I received new fork tubes with the bike, which I'll be installing tonight. Could someone be so kind as to check their manual and tell me how much fluid goes in each tube? I'd really appreciate it. I know it'll be in my manual, but I can admittedly be very impatient at times. I did an engine-in frame paint on it so far, and will be using Krylon Fusion Sunbeam Yellow on the plastics, assuming it's as close a match as I've read that it is. I've polished the wheels and fr…

  8. Hi, new to the boards here! I have an 85 IT 250 that i recently resurected (well sort of). Bought it non running even though the seller said it ran when he parked 2 yrs ago. It needed a new CDI and i replaced that and got it fired up after flushing and cleaning the carbm, air filter, oil change. I have not been able to get it to run correctly into the mid range and beyond though. If i let it idle for a few seconds then hit the throttle it will resopond but then quickly start to bog within a few seconds. I raised the clip hieght on the main and it is now all the way at the top -didn't make any difference. The carb is clean inside and there doesn't seem to be any sticking o…

Hi all first post and all. I have a DT175mx that apparently once upon a time was i would say raced but used in enduro competition would prob be a better bet. It then returned to being a road bike, then became a box of bits, then back to a bike, then i got it. Thing is she 4strokes like crazy unless you ride it like a full on crosser (no surprise)with big fat gobs of throttle. It goes well enough when you do this lifting the front wheel for the first couple of gears if you dont lean foreward, but trying to hold a steady throttle in town or traffic is becoming a real pain in the asre as the 4 stroking is steadily getting worse. She ticks over ok, uses choke to start, w…

So I'll be picking up an MX100 in a few hours for the wife. It's a runner but looks like it wouldn't be out of place in a Mad Max movie. Cheap as chips so I bought it. I figure I would rather spend a few hundred on a beater first then if she likes dirt biking I'll get her something better down the road. Any of you lot have any experience with this model? Any tips or comments will be greatly appreciated..... I'll see if I can post some pics later so you all can laugh at it (and me). Updates will follow as I throw more money at this money pit.

i just bought a 1982 yz 125......this bike is unrestored mint. the original owner bought it in 82' and rode about 3hours, and stored in since then. it hasn't been fired since 83'. it is in perfect shape, and i'm flushing the cooling system and cleaning the carb before i fire it up. the only problem is that the gas tank got tired and brittle, and has a big crack in it. does anyone know where i could find a really nice original tank to replace it with? thanks, rick

Where is My DT250MX 1979. I bought it new from Motorcycle city in Slough? for £600. I carried on riding my Malaguti Monte when I was 17 so that i could wait for V registration to come out. Longest 2 weeks of my life. I just checked and it is currently taxed, so it's still alive! Anyone know where it is? I sold it to someone who wanted to part exchange for a Fiat 127 with Starsky and Hutch stripes down the side! Just took the cash and purchased a 1969 Escort Mk1, much better for girlfriends (if I had had one!) Went to Scotland on it when it was new, couldn't keep up with my mates XT500's. I passed my bike test on it and then went for a rusty car. Matthew.kirby@at…

This could be a good place for the select few tw200 owners to keep in touch. I recently had a problem burning out the windings on my stator. This was a costly time consuming problem as I was on a country camping trip. Luckily coming towards the end of the holiday. The bike was loaded up with my backpack and tent - so a little overweight and I was riding from Lithgow towards Bathurst running along about 100 km when the engine died. There was almost no oil in there. So check your oil levels daily as the oil cools the stator windings. This bike is great offroad on fire trails (eg around Lithgow) or on road as it can cruise along at 110 Km per hour which is the general fre…

Hello all; 1st post by new member. I've been commandered into maintaining my grandson's newly aquired YZ80. Being used to only old British road bikes I would like some info on the drive chain adjustment. With bike on it's wheels chain seems tight,no free play. Would someone please explain the correct procedure for adjustment. I'm user manual less at the moment, any ideas for downloads? Here's hoping, BoB.
