So I just picked up a 74 dt250 in very decent condition. It runs, goes through the gears, brakes etc, and is just a bit faded on the gas tank and front and rear fenders. IT does not have a title and I got it for $300 at an action. I wanted it to basically ride back and forth to work (10 miles round trip) and ride around on the fire trails here in Northern AZ; nothing extreme but I will require it to climb hills. Needs new tires, carb work (I think), and basic oil and fluid changes to get it running well. I rode it back from the action, and every 10 mins or so the bike would cut out. Two kicks later I am back up and running for another 10 mins then it kicks out a…

  2. Guys, I have a Yamaha RX100 (Indian and slightly underpowered version of the RS 100 T). I am planning to convert it to a DT 100 . The roads around the place where I stay is Lunar Landscape, so an on/off road bike is much better than a road bike. Please don't come to me with a chainsaw, there are enough stock RX 100's running around all over the country to justify this conversion. As the DT was never sold in India, I'll need some help before I can go ahead with this project. The parts I'll be fabricating are the Tank (in sheet metal), The Oil Tank Cover (in Fibre/Resin), The Fenders (from original Yamaha spares), and the Exhaust (full custom exhaust). …

The owner that i bought it off didnt know much about the engine and said that he dont think anything has been done to it. only when doing 60mph it feels like its saying i cant do anymore but il try.. also rattels is another thing ive no idea about. I know they can do about 80+ but i just dont think mine will even hit 75. 65mph at 8000rpm sounds abit strange to me. help please.

well, just thought this may be a good thing to post. yesterday, my xt500 broke my leg. the kick starter kickback from hell. some how it cracked both my leg bones at my ankle, luckily for me everything is still in the right place and i have avoided surgery for now. this bike had given me a pretty good wack before, even left me a little bruised, but obviously nothing like this. so I was hoping some would be able to give me some hints. is this a malfunction or has the xt550 maimed before? I know that the auto-decompress was working properly because I had just recently had it adjusted and it was doing its job. has anyone else experienced such a nasty bite f…

Hi there I've not long just bought a DTR125 on a 51plate. the bike has done 21K The last owner said he don't think the bike's had any engine work done, So I was thinking with it having 21K on the clock and no new top-end would I be losing out on power? I can get 65 nearing 70 but I'm hitting 8000rpm. I know the bike can do more as I've had one before. But I was 3 stone lighter. I'm now something 11stone.. So taken all this into account what do you think. I want to redo the top-end over xmass just for the sake of the 21k on the clock.

The handbook says remove the plastic cage around the filter and wash out the material and re oil.On my bike the filter is glued to the frame which makes it trickier to clean and re oil.Anyone else found the same problem?Surely I don't have to remove the filter material and re-glue it?

  14. I have a 1977 DT 125 frame and I was thinking of making it into a bobber style dirt bike, however, I want to upgrade it to a bigger motor. I figure the 125 won't be able to make much power. So I'm wondering what other motors would fit on the frame, maybe a XS 650 or something along those lines? any help would be great, thanks for any help guys!

Hi there, I have asked this sort of question before and am sorry, but i have a friend who has an Aprilia MX 125 supermotard the measurements of his front forks and rear swing arm are about equal to my DT125RE(from my measurements my DT may be a little wider) does this mean that those wheels and other wheels of this type could be spaced to fit? his rear wheel is wide and really tops off the 125 making it look like a bigger supermoto bike. any help will be appreciated thanks Jake EDIT: front: 3.00" x 17”; rear: 4.25" x 17” <-specs

  19. Hi , does anyone know if I could swap front end for a motocross front end with upside down forks and swap to excell rims and talon hubs. So can use brembo brakes etc. Is it do able and how hard would it be ?

The watercooled version, it doesnt matter if original or by someone else, even used. Ive seen that there are 110 versions by polini but i was wondering if the dt 125 cylinder and piston will fit?
