Does anyone have any info on the timeline history on Yamaha trials models? Looks like they started in 1974 and continued through to the mid '80's but I can't find any info after that. Maybe that was it but I'm sure I saw a new Yamaha trials at a bike show in about 1990-91.

Anybody know of a company that makes telescoping handlebars or knows a way to DIY? What I mean is the ability to adjust the length of the handlebars without having to swap in different bars. If you're wondering why, I like to use my dirt bike for both trails and tracks. Trail bikes tend to have shorter handlebars to make going between trees easier. My bike YZ125 is built for the track. To do it myself I would think if I cut a section out of the center, between the clamps of course, and found a tube sightly larger than the diameter of the handlebars and long enough to fit between the clamps that ought to do it right? So the two separate handlebars would slide …

Hi peeps, I;ve got a 1989 DT 125 R and it was running fine but just keeps on misfire when I start riding. It doesn't seem to like revving at all and after a few seconds it then just dies. It idles absolutely fine but as soon as you ride it starts to misfire and stall... I've tried a few things to get it running properly so far; - New spark plug, Coil, HT lead and Plug Cap - Cleaned out the carb - Checked for broken wires found none. I have a few ideas to what it could be; - Piston rings ( but not sure if this would cause the misfiring ) - Possible Blown head gasket - Reeds need to be replaced - The Pulser/Source Coil Any help pointing me towards t…

would anyone happen to know the power and weight (ideally power to weight, so i don't have to do the math my self )of the wrf 250 and 426 please? The ones towards the start of 2000's like '01 '02 models. The reason i am asking is that i am keeping an eye out for a new bike and a few wrf's have come up, unfortunately i'm on a A2 license so have limits to power and power to weight. i Think the 250 would not need restriction but pretty certain the 426 would- ideally looking for exact figures so i can see how far each is from the limit- this will help a lot in trying to choose or even what to consider. The 250 may well be quite a bit under so may be better getting the…

Hi guys As expected it seems like my head bearing have gone. Bit of history; my steering is very stiff when turning the bars to the right, to the left it's fine. My bro has been borrowing the bike, so I suspect it's that he hasn't been covered and he's left it parked up with the steering to the left, and it's rusted the head bearings. Now that I have it back, it's up to me to sort it. It seems like the cables aren't overly puling, and tyre pressures are fine. It's just been in for MOT and failed, obviously, and the guy confirmed it's the bearings. I was thinking of doing it myself, and reading up on here it seems like it's not the most difficult job. However I can…

Bike died, just got it back from Padgetts after they said it was the ignition pickup and said the part would cost £500. Poor student, was hoping to use the bike for Uni but cant afford that price. Any ideas where i can get this part? Ive looked on ebay and there doesnt seem to be anything available. Looks like I may have to sell the bike as is. Any help appreciated.

Hi, My sons dt has started having problems starting .new plug fitted ,not the best spark I've seen but should be enough. I've stripped the carb and cleaned the pilot and main jets .shes firing on the starter but won't catch and pick up . If I keep her spinning long enough with the throttle open she will catch and run. As soon as you let the revs die she cuts out . Any ideas as I'm running out of obvious ones before I think about big uns like crank seals

I've found a couple wiring diagrams online, along with they one in my owners manual and i can't find anything on the white wire coming from the magneto/fly wheel. does anybody know where this wire belongs?? Its a 1970 Rt1-360 coming from magneto flywheel i see 2 black wires, green, green/red, yellow and then white one..? one black wire to coil, the other to the key switch, green and yellow to the rectifier at key switch(unless one is already D/C and could go to the taillight??)(is there a diode or resistor between that??) green/red is for the night time circuit so i dont think i have to use that wire. please correct me if im wrong. Im just trying to wire in a 6 volt h…

Hi I have introduced myself properly now. It would be great if my previous post was removed. Searching locally and ebay but nothing comes up. From photos I see online the 74 model seems to have come with both low and high fender am I wrong? Are there any fenders from other models or years that would fit my 21" front wheel? Cheers Alex

Hi Guys, I have been reading on and off in the forums since we snatched up a 1981 DT175 about three weeks ago. We have since gotten busy and fixed it up for my significant other as her first bike. Last weekend I wanted to clean out the autolube system and when I removed the cover for the pump I was greeted by an oily mess, the whole think was full of 2 smoke oil. Now one would think thats not normal, a hose goes in the pump from the reservoir aka inlet and one goes out aka outlet. Both are connected properly. Anyone got any hints? I cleaned everything up and left the cover off, doesnt seem like anything is leaking (right now). I have serveral bikes,…

Hi, this is my first post. I need a bit of guidance. I have a 1981 model year Yamaha XT250 dual sport motorcycle. I have it together but theres still work to do. Im having a bit of a time finding some parts too. I changed the rear tire and tube which was a nightmare because the dried out original tire was still on it. It was hard as a rock. I still need to swap the front since it wont hold air. Here is my stupid noob issues. 1. This is only the second bike Ive owned and the second bike Ive put back together. I am not a mechanic. 2. The switch on the petcock snapped when I went to start it last. I DID find a new part @BikeBandit.com 3. The electrical syst…

Hello again, Friends! So I posted a while back about my 1975 Yamaha DT400 having trouble kick starting, which was initally resolved for a while. She would putt around like the old dog should and was quite a blast!! But sadly enough she seems to be sick again. On the way home from work recently I was crusing about 5-10 miles down a straight road at 40MPH and when I arrived at a stop light, I noticed she was kinda struggling (cough and sputtering). Gave her a bit of gas and she seemed to release herself from it til I arrived at the gas station, then began to cough and sputter again. Shut her off, tried to kick her over, no dice. I tried resetting her carbureter…
