  2. Started by thumbs,

First the bike runs great with no known problems. I was out in the desert doin some pd hunting. It was about 90* and I was doin a lot of first gear running. Frequent stops to glass the area then more low gear running on prairie trails. I stopped to turn around and the bike shut off. I tried to start her but no luck. Checked to make sure I was getting fuel to the carb. No problem. This bike usually starts on the first kick. Does the xt350 get hot and just shut down?? I waited about 20 minutes and she fired right up and got me home with no problem. Again is it possible she just got hot from the low gear running in the heat with little air over the fins and just shut…

Hello Chaps So I decided to try and figure out what model my DT is... but I'm not winning. Its registered as a 1980 and was originally imported from South Africa. It's mono shock and has round swingarms (not box). Chasis code starts with 4L9-XXX. Apparently the 4L9 code is not listed anywhere on the internet (thanks google). Any ideas about where to look next? I just want to confirm if it is an E, F, G etc. and the actual year of production. Cheers!

Hello chaps. Just wondering if anyone knows if late model disc brakes from a DT175 (2001 onwards in NZ, Aus, SA) will fit on older models? Specifically a 1980 version. Will I need to transplant the entire wheel as well? Will the forks fit? Thanks!

  6. Hey guys just baught myself a little project. It looked like a classic dt50 but when i checked out the chassis number it came up as a 1977 ty50m. The strange thing is the chassis has a mount for a monoshock and not rear twin shocks. could anyone shed some light on weather they made a single shock version at any point? Thanks in advance guys

I am looking to swap my 09 yz250 in good condition for a 2010 wr450f my question is the Wr450f has 8000 kms on it and has had a top end rebuild at 6000 kms, is that high kilometres for a 2010 and how long do these engines and gearboxes last. thanks in advance

  9. Well here we go again you say ! I hope there's a fix for this cos it's doing my head in ! ive done some trawling of posts on here and discovered a problem I didn't know I had, mines a 1980 model,2k4 engine, air filter on the right as you sit, and I believe it should have the 2H500 carb on it, mine has the 3U500 on (160 main ) but, I believe because the air filter I have is more restrictive it'll run rich! It didn't have a filter fitted so I assumed it needed one ( I'm guessing it was run without!) ps. Not used it yet. So, I don't want to source the correct carb cos ( I hope ) this one will maybe go quicker as the other is only a 130 main ! What do you say ? I kn…

Hello I am an 18 year and just bought my first bike about 8 months ago. I own a 1986 XT350 and I am recently having carburetor issues. One of my gaskets are leaking slightly and I want to rebuild it with new gaskets and pieces from a carb kit. Does anyone know if a carb kit exists for the 1986 YDIS carb and if so where can I find it?

evening all, just after a little info on the footpegs on a dt125r, i know it may seem a bit anal and over the top but i have found some footpeg rubbers(not the pillion ones) for sale on a website but they are quite expensive so was wondering if all dt125 front footpegs are the same size as the advert states they will fit a DT125re and Dt125dx 04-07 ?, for the record my dt is a 52 plate 125r and the footpeg measures 80mm long and 30mm wide and has a 6mm fixing hole to secure the rubber, thanks

Hey, I have got a LED number plate light with my tail tidy, however this LED has got bullet connectors, my bike has got the following kind of connectors. I want to redo the LED light connector as to avoid messing with the stock bike electronics, how would I find out the exact connector which is used for the number plate light, and also the indicators as they are different sizes.

Hi All.. Yes it's a barn find sort of.. I put the bike in there 18 years ago and just found it again. lol Anyway here goes.. Due to being a Suzuki guy and not knowing a great deal about Yams I thought I'd ask you guys for help.. When my son was 9 years old I sold the little quad he's been riding since he was 4 and got him a 1976 YZ80 for him to try 2 wheels.. Well the bike was not running and it turned out to be lack of spark.. Just to get him rolling I changed the old 6volt system to a 12volt total lost system using a gel battery so the bike would run until the battery was dead ( handy for Dads standing around waiting for the kid to get bored and stop ri…
