Hi I've got a 1981 DT175MX. The carb on it, which I believe to be original, is model no 2H501. My Haynes manual has the spec for a 2h500, but not the 2H501. What I'm trying to confirm is the correct main jet for this particular carb. The bike came with a 170 fitted, and I reckon that's too rich - the bike struggles to get through 6000, but once through 6000, it takes off. Depending on what you read, it seems 130 or 160 are possible std sizes. Obviously once the main is sorted I can then fine tune the needle setting. Anyone able to help? Many thanks Lee

Hi Everyone, I'm new to the forum and have just started work on a 1979 DT250MX. I've had it in the garage for 14 years and it ran fine at that point but had a badly slipping clutch. A friend stripped the clutch down but couldn't fix it so it was left. I have now decided to re-commission it and have ordered new clutch plates and gaskets for it. I have a couple of questions though: 1. Can anyone tell me if all DT250 oil pump covers will fit or was the MX different? It has gone missing in the 14 yrs since I laid it up. 2. Are the dowels that go in the clutch side crank casing available new or are there other models dowels that will fit (I think there are a couple of th…

What's goin on guys, Im looking at a '72 LT2 locally with 1500 miles on it, guy wants $600 for it. There seems to be little to nothing about these bikes as far as specs etc, so I wanted to know what you guys think? It seems to have little to no rust and is complete. He claims the bike was running a year ago but has since been parked so its gonna need a new battery and a carb cleaning. I hate buying non running bikes. So, what should I expect from this little bike? I have a degree in auto-engineering and have built 2 strokes from the ground up before. Im dying to get on an older enduro they look like a blast. In addition, im almost 200 lbs... Im definately not gon…

Hi all, the bike is back out in the garden and being fixed and renovated ready for what will probably be more disasterous green laning antics. I registered back in july being an absolute noob with a cbt in the world of biking and was playing around etc with my dt125 for some laning fun. Now however i have done my theory and have booked my D.A.S in april easter bank holidays so finegrs crossed for that . Since then me my friend ( who brought a DT, which was last month stolen) and my dad who brought a rmx250 ( with his fancy pants full license) , have been out on several green laning sessions around east hampshire . So today on my day off i have been …

Hi all, I have a 86 TT225 that is in poor shape. I bought as a project for 50.00 on Craigslist. Its all there exept for some minot parts. The kick shaft is most concerning as it is rounded off and not functional. I have not been able to find a replacement shaft. I'm looking for opinions, part this think out on Ebay? Or make a go of it? I have restored a 1991 CBR1000f, 1971 Rokon 2 wheel drive, and a 95 CBR 600. I have the knowledge to do the job, just not sure of the machine and if its worth it to do the project. Thanks! Hi, I'm new to the forum. Until now I've beem fiddling about with my Honda CT90. Today I was at the recycle shop at the local rubbish tip and picked up a Yamaha 80 off road bike for $40. I took it to be a YZ 80 but on checking up the engine number (367-65XXXXX) on the net it appears it is a GTMX 80. Can anyone enlighten me on the year and what is the difference between the GTMX and YZ as they seem to have been made concurrently. Are there any common parts as there seems to be plenty of parts for the YZ around? It is complete except for fuel tank, gear lever, seat and the round plate on the LHS which shows a plate with an electrical coil but I assume the magneto? is …

hi guys.. ive recently bought a ttr600re..its in mint low mileage condition with one previous owner.. ive always fancied the red/white belgarda models..so i bought new genuine yamaha front mudguard, rear mudguard, headlight cowl, fork leg protectors and seat cover (discontinued by yamaha..sourced one from germany) in the 1999 belgarda colours. ive also fitted black excel rims with gold talon hubs built with stainless spokes..and a micron end can (loud) i need the taller belgarda ohlins shock as the standard re shock makes the bike a little low at the bike.. has anyone got one of the ohlins shock for sale..or can anyone suggest a longer shock from another bike that…

Hello all, First Yamaha for this guy. Bought neighbors DT50 for my young one to learn how to ride/shift. Kicks over and starts/runs fine. Instantly goes to full throttle. Also, tach doesn't work and has a a couple broken lenses/stalks for signals. Are these easy to still purchase? Are any of these easy fixes? It is still using the Autolube system, which is working. Should I keep using it or bypass for premix. All of my other smokers are vintage and use oil injection, but are all Suzuki. Is the Yamaha system as reliable? Other than that, the bike is in solid original condition with only 1411 US miles on it. What else can anyone share on the older DT…
