I cant find any information that traces thsi back to a stock manufacturing sticker, does any one have any information on T G or even what the initials stand for? Any information is greatly appreciated.

Aloha from Hawaii, I have a 1977 Yamaha XS360 Im going to remove the stock air filter and add K&N Pod Filters. I'm going to leave the exhaust system stock. Do I need to rejet the carbs? How do I know I need to rejet? Ive read somewhere that the signs are backfiring, and plug color. Is this right? If I need to rejet, then what are the specs (jets, etc.), settings I need to get near it needs to be running right? The second question is, what do I do with the pipe that ran from the motor to the carbs?it actually attached from the plastic split tube that ran from carbs to engine case. I'm assuming this is the crankcase breather? Now that I'm replacing with po…

I have a 1977 xs360 with a leaky exhaust valve on the left cylinder and I found a good used 1979 xs 400 cylinder head on ebay for $30. I am just wondering if anyone knows if this swap would work for me. If this can't work does anyone know where I could find new valve seals, I am hoping I could pull mine apart and just clean up the valves and seats.

pictorial story so far..... cut rear frame rails and test mounted speedo tried custom tank, but figure its too big, seat is great though bought a DT125 tank and looks better, fitted custom forks which are longer and fitted longer rear shocks bought from stafford bike show last year Cut and welded a Motad exhaust I'm keeping the bars clean I will mount the horn push inside the bar end and fit an ATE BMW master cylinder, so i figure i will need a bespoke tank making now I'm after some flat track type tyres, carbs are brand new from a dohc xs400 and I made new brackets as these were too narrow. swi…

I just became the owner of two classic Yamaha's, 1976 and a 1977 XS500's. I know that they are both point/condenser type ignition systems and I want to convert them to an electronic / CDI set up. Anyone out there know of any set up out there made for this, or that can be made to work?

Hi all, I am new to the site and need a bit of help. I have been offered a XS600 by my a relative. It has not been run for over four years and is belived to have a battery/alternator problem. She can give me no further info and as she lives a considerable distance away, I could do with finding out what the bike is. I.e. is it a sports, a cruiser, a vintage modle or what? Are spares available for this model? Sorry for being so vague. Where can I download a photo? Thanks ChrisK

Dear all, I'm a new user to this club so hello to everybody. Very happy to be part of this community. I have been riding my 2007 Yamaha XT660X for a while now and it rides amazing. However, some time to time bike has a bad habit of cutting off when releasing the trottle. I've read a lot about the common issue with the ECU for these bikes, also I suspect that the problem lies in ECU because after every cut off I need to turn my key on and off for bike to start again. So my question is: If I'd buy a new ECU what difference is between the one with the Orange label (B) and the one with Blue label (P)? Also, if you have a better solution for the problem than cha…

Hi Guys New here so hope I'm in the right place, at the ripe old? age of 62, I have just purchased a xv 125 virago so I'm a born again biker (brought up on the BSA bantam the TRIUMPH cub etc.) "Ace Cafe" blah......blah....blah...... those in the know, know what I'm talking about, back to the xv, I've bought this bike without seeing it and have been told it's a non runner, now I don't expect miracles just looking for a few pointers and opinions, they where supposedly told by a Yamaha dealer (in France) that one cylinder was low on compression, now I would have thought that the bike would start but run lumpy and be gutless when ridden, now that's my opinion, what's yours…
