Have we narrowed down the choice of oils for the Thunderace? Ideally i could do with an oil which reduces the clutch grab and the oil consumption too. Money really isnt an obsticle so any oil can be bought. What does everyone reccomend?

Hi all, newbie here so hola! I'm thinking about chopping in my Kawasaki Z1000 for something a little more dedicated, and have always wanted an R1 so just wanted a bit more info really. What I really want is the best road-going R1, so which is the comfiest, most supple, spacious model year to go for? I quite fancy a 2001-2002 carb model as they look great and I've heard they're pretty good 'all-rounder' - well, for a litre sportsbike at least. But are they much different to the earlier 1998/9 bikes? I do also enjoy the odd trackday, but any model R1 should be more than capable of this - more capable than me I'm sure! The other model year was a 2004 underseat ex…

I have owned my 03 plate R6 for 10 months and all i have ever had on it are dunlop d208rr, These are a fantastic tyre super sticky and heat up very fast. While i was new to being a biker they were great, but now i am more confident i am having to replace them within approx 800 miles (every 2-3 months) . As i ride the bike every day (and fairly hard) this is getting very expensive, so i would like to ask if anyone can recommend a longer lasting tyre but not much sacrifice on handling.. Maybe a duel compound tyre..

I have a September 2009 XJ6 N in Cloudy White. I bought it new and it is my first big bike . Used daily for work and it has now clocked up 23,000 miles . Brilliant bike for newbies and commuting , extremely reliable . I am wondering what sort of mileage and thoughts , problems other XJ6 owners have or had ? Brief history of mine as follows : 1x service at main dealer ?( first service) the rest by me ( qualified technician) using genuine parts. 2x sets or the original equipment Battlax BT021 tyres , each set covered just over 10,000 miles before replacement . Found one side of the front tyre wore a lot faster than the other , common BT021 problem. 1x set of …

Hey lads, noob here, and yep you've guessed it, my first post is a question. Treated myself to a brand new FZ1 Fazer in March, and i fecking love my new bike, but it's just not quite an aggrresive enough riding position for me. I want to put wider & straighter bars on, and just wondered if anyone else has done the same yet, and if they could recomend a good set? Looking to go to something like 750-800mm wide, and no bend. Most set's i've looked at also have a rise in them which is no good, as it'll raise the height of the bars too much, and look crap in my opinion. What about other mods? I've got my moto gp style micron can coming next week, tail tidy,…

First post! Like the title says; just curious. Slowly putting an FZ600 together, got a spare engine from my Radian that needs a top-end rebuild (TL;DR: over-revved, my fault, lesson learned, moving on) and I was going to put that into it, but today I came across a 1985 FZ750 engine for only a little more than the cheapest price I've found for a top-end gasket set and four piston ring sets for the FZ/XJ/YX600 engine. This project is a bit-by-bit thing anyway, so the idea occurred to me that it might be fun to plug the 5-valve water-cooled 750 in there instead. I know the frames are similar; but does anyone happen to know if the engine mounts line up between the two models?…

Hi I'm looking for some fashion of wind protection for my XJ6N. While at low speeds it's fun, when belting down the M40 (at legal speeds )it's not so much fun. Either that or I'll have to trade it for a Fazer FZ8

Hi all, I am thinking about some new winter riding gear . It's starting to get a bit cold and damp on my XJ6 recently. I have had Frank Thomas textiles for nearly 4 years and they are getting past it . Got a 3 layer jacket : outer , so called windproof/waterproof and thermal antifreeze linings . but the inner lining zips have gone and this is drafty in the winter , the outer zip pull has broken and I now have a key ring on it. Plus my balls get wet when it rains despite the 3 piece construction of the trousers , you have all been there I am sure . Taken to using a plastic throw away car seat cover from workshop stuffed down my waterproof rain over trousers like…
