New to this forum so first of all a big hello!!! Just looking for some advice really. Passed my test a few weeks ago and am now enjoying myself on my new R6. I know that its probably not the best choice for a first bike but to be honest I dont intend to drive it like a man possessed so think I will be ok!! My question is about carrying a passenger. Is it comfortable for both rider and passenger? Not looking to do long journeys - maybe about half an hour at a time. A friend of mine is pestering me for a go on the back of it (he is about 14 stone) so Im hoping it wont cause too many problems. Understand that I will have to take it nice and slow with a passenger which …

what year is this bike? http://www.motorsports-network.com/YAMAHA/201mc/r1b2.jpg and also, is there a hole in front of it still?? and on the new 06 07 08 models of the r6, are you able to remove that short stem exhaust and put a full length one on, like a yoshimura?

I'm afraid i have a terrible affliction where i'm never satisfied with anything, however with my R6 rather than chop it in for the latest and greatest and take a hit on trade in/new price, i'm going to try a different route. Keep the bike and add some sensible mods. I've only been riding for 6 months, its a raven black '05 R6 on a 06 plate with 3000 miles and the bike is so much better than me, the power is more than enough. Next year i want to start doing track days and probably will only be riding on the road at weekends etc, what would some sensible modifications be, the bike is totally standard. I know the best mod is training for myself which i will be doing anyway, …

  11. I'm sure it's a common topic, but I can't find any help through search. Is there a conversion kit to change the R6 headlight from being on one side to both? I keep reading about this highbimmin site that used to do it but it seems to be non existant now. Just tired of the constant, "hey one of your headlights is out"

Hi, my 2000 R6 seems to be struggling when i accelerate hard its a little juddery and really underpower then as soon as the revs build up it smooths out and rides like it should, can still lift the front wheel as soon as the revs are high enough but at the lower end something aint right. It feels like its not getting fuel but this cant be the case as it is sweet when the revs are nice and high. Anyone have any ideas what i can check or what they think it might be?? Thanks guys Paul

Would you say it's worth fitting a steering damper to the new R6? This bike won't see a track day. Heard it's prone to shaking a bit. thanks

  16. Hi all, I have a 2005 R6 (R46) Rossi rep. The bike was garaged over winter with the battery plugged into a conditioner. I started using it a few weeks ago however the battery (6 years old) did not hold a charge for very long, and if I didn't ride it for a few days it went flat. I disconnected the old battery and replaced it with a brand new one (Yuasa YT9B-BS) as recommended by my Yamaha dealer. The battery was charged for 24 hours. I went to use the bike this morning and the alarm deactivated as normal, the lights, dials etc would power up, I could hear the fuel pump priming and the bike turned over quickly. The only problem is that it wouldn't fire up! I tried …

Hi All, Hoping someone may be able to help with this. My 2 month old R6 is starting to make a very painful noise. When I am pushing it the back wheel makes a loud squeeking noise as if the brakes are on. I think it only does it on certain parts of the tyre as when you are walking it the sound comes and goes. Not really sure where to start on this as I am quite new to biking so dont really have much mechanical knowledge. Any help would be appreciated!!

Hi Guys Got a quick question on tyres for the 2004 R6, as Standard they come with D208 (special fittment), and recently I had to have some new ones fitted after a puncture, but the Yam Dealer hadn't got any 208's in, but said a set of Bridgestones 010's would be ok, However I've had them on the bike now and just can't get use to them. At slow speeds through corners they feel like they want to tuck under the bike and jack knife on me, and at higher speeds in corners they just don't want to turn quickly at all, and a lot of effort has to be used to get the things to countersteer. Naturally this is getting on my nerves and is making riding the bike very un-nerving, and…
