Hello folks I have just taken ownership of my 1st Yamaha - a 1993 YZF750R. Lovely so far but dodgy colour! The manual is suggesting 20W40 from 5 degrees plus or 10W30 for up to 15 degrees. As my riding will go both below and above these temperatures, wouldn't a 10W40 be better as it covers all ranges of temperature? I hesitate to buy it as it isn't recommended by the book! What do you good folk use in your YZF's for good all year round use. Thanks, Bobby.

I've heard many stories of EXUP valves sticking or breaking on Yamaha. How do I know that my new purchase is OK in this depertment? It seems to go quite well but, compared to my previous bike (a Honda 400 SuperFour) the Yam could have square wheels and be a better performer! Because I've made such a big leap, I thought this bike would scare the pants off me. Is it OK or do I just need to take it above the 6500 revs that I've subjected myself to so far? Hopefully I will get used to my new bike soon and I won't feel the need to ask any more silly questions. Thanks again.

Hi Just collected my 2004 R6 and have a probably stupid question relating to bulbs - hoping for some advise. What bulbs should be on when? There appear to be three bulbs per side. The tiny little "running" light, looks like a side light. This is lit on both sides when the bike is fired up Then there are two bigger bulbs. When i have the bike started i have one bulb lit on one side but not the parallel . Should it be? Then when i put on full beam only one bulb on the other side lights up same when i flash passing lights. Surely this should be both sides lit? Can anyone please explain what i should have when? Cheers

For the 1st time since 2000, Yamaha is jumping back in the WSB ring for '05 8) Andrew Pitt did 75 laps @ Valencia on the Upgraded machine....... I'm looking forward to seeing some more Inline4's take it to Ducati & their grip on that series.

Hi, I'm removing the pillion passenger fittings (rear seat and footpegs) from my wife Nik's 2006 R6. Have had no problems with the rear set and replaced it with the tail cover and have removed the footpegs fine. However although the blanking plate fittings I have to cover the holes fit fine, the supporting brackets on them don't seem to line up with any bolt/screw fittings on the inside of the tail/under the main seat. Any advice on fixing these ? Am I missing something in the fittings pack ? Cheers, Jas

Hi all, does anyone know the best tyres for an '07 R6? Just done 3000 miles and the original fit Dunlop Sportmax need replacing. Not much info on MCN and website is seriously slow! I've seen good reports about Power Pilots and Dragon Corsas on here, but nothing definitive. A local dealer said Pilot Sports was the way to go? Also read some bad reports about Bridgestones on Yamahas! My mileage is fairly lowish so I'm more concerned with the best grip (wet & dry) and handling than durability. Thanks

alright i r1 is off my list haha. i even heard to not start with an r6 too. i heard the peak torque is only in a short range on the power band, and that if i took a turn and hit it w/o knowing i'd slide and go down. also i heard that first 6 months is usually when new riders have a super high risk of dying. but isn't it with any bike? i mean, if i practice on the r6 slowly and get used to it i should be fine right?

So, I just bought my 96 virago 250 yesterday and I'm having issues shifting to second gear. When I shift, there is a 15 second delay of the engine responding to the throttle. I give it gas and it doesn't go, then 15 seconds later it like takes off!! What am I doing wrong??? Could it be the jets or the fuel pump? Also, I'm looking for patient people to ride with. I'm in the bay area. Anyone sympathetic to a new rider?? I need help!!! I feel so stupid...
