Hello all...... just got a fazer 6 in black as an ex demo from Woking Yamaha. It's had the tallest screen fitted to it, but still get wind buffetting (now worried as i understand that its been used by either their instructors (which isnt really a problem) or by Learners (which could be a problem). I'm hoping someone out there has the solutions to the following: 1. feels like either head race bearings are loose or swingarm bearings are the same, doesnt exactly track true, when on bumpy roads and during cornering/both, there seems to be a feeling of looseness, as if something is moving around which shouldnt be.... 2. Vibration. The vibes from this motor are so bad th…

Hi, I am in the market for my first bike and have decided on a new FZ6 Fazer. Question I have is whether I should stump up the extra few hundred for the ABS option? Does the ABS really make much difference? I know from car driving I never (if ever) use the ABS, is this any different for a bike? Many thanks Warren

Hey guys. I just picked up a 2006 FZ6 with 527 miles on it for 4500$. Does anyone happen to know what sizes wrench I need for the oil plug and the filter cap?? Its not a size I have and I live in the sticks so I have to drive over an hour to get more tools. Also, if anyone has an advice on the oil change Id appreciate it! I'm new to the sport world, ive been driving an old kawasaki 1981 550 for the past couple years. oooohh.. and i almost forgot. the clucth has about 1/4 inch play in it. when you pull the clutch in it goes just a little bit before it meets resistence. Should I have any concern with this?? Thanks guys, Austin

Hello everybody, In my family we run a 1981 Yamaha XJ550 (black with the orange pin striping)which we have owned since 1989 and used since as everyday transport all year round (winter and summer). It has now reached roughly 90,000 miles without an engine rebuild as yet (but read more of later) and still on original clutch/drivetrain. Naturally during our time of ownership it has had a few replacement exhausts (thanks to all that lovely corrosive salt they put on the roads in the winter in the UK ), we've had to do a partial re-wire (original fuse box etc. carroded to bits), many tyres, many fork seals and many chain and sprocket kits plus many, many regular oil and f…

Hey everyone I have been riding since I was about 9 and just now got my first bike. '86 FZ 600. I was wondering if it would be a good starter bike, also it currently does not start. It tries too, I hear the motor trying to turn and ocassionaly it will backfire. I have the Clymer manual for it but I thought I would also get a couple of people's ideas as well to find out where to start looking. Thank you gor your help.

Howdy folks. Just joined the club... And I have a few questions... I just got my hands on a nice FZ 750. I'm wondering; how does one upgrade the running gear on these easily? Are there any fatter rear wheels, shocks, forks etc. that fit with few or no mods? It's an '89 model, with the 3 spoke wheels. Here's one pic: http://www.skoop-tech.co.uk/pics/FZ750.jpg

Firstly hello everyone. Like a few in my position I'm just about to do my test and have decided on an R6. I've a few questions on what to look for and value etc My friend passed test and brought this bike a couple of months ago, he loves it even though it's nearly "caught him out" a couple of times. He paid £3000 for it including the new rubber it needed. It's a W-2000, 13k miles uk spec, 3 owner, very nice condition (in my opinion). I'm looking to buy it from him at about 16k miles and want to pay £2.5k (ish), this is given the fact it now has a couple of new scratches on it, he's going to have well had his moneys worth too. The only thing that bothers…

Hello Everybody, Just joined today. I ride a 52 plate R1 but have a problem. I was going to go out for a ride today, but the bike wont start. The battery is fully charged but I have a fault code "11" on the dash which according to the Haynes manual is a camshaft sensor problem. Before I start stripping the bike down and swearing is there anything else I could do or check first?

Hello all, I am new to this forum and to Yamaha ownership. Some background: I have been riding since I was 15 years, about 30 years now, both on- and off-road. I have always owned Honda and Harley-Davidson, doing the maintenance and most of the mechanical work myself. The only Yamaha that I have been around was back in 1982, my friend bought a new 550 Maxim that year. I rode it a few times, it was a very nice bike. Recently a VRR 150 was acquired for me here in Thailand by my wife. I am not sure of the model year. I did not even see the bike until after it was purchased <shrug> for the princely sum of 2400 Thai baht (about 71 US dollars at current exchan…
