morning all i have a 2001 tdm 850 and just recently have had problems with what i think is carb icing. the bike dosent respond to the throttle and feels like its running out of petrol. the thing is it starts fine runs fine and top end seems ok. the problem only occours about a mile or so into a journey and if your riding steady sometimes it cuts out if you have to stop for traffic lightsstarts again after a few minutes then its ok. has anyone else had this? regards twidge

I have just purchased a 1983 venture royal. I presently have no top end speed. This bike sat for a couple years outside so I cleaned the carbs inside and out. No difference. Can anyone assist me in the proper setup or where to go from here. Thank You

I just took my '05 V-Star 650 with 2K original miles out of winter storage (garaged). I left the bowls filled all winter (4 months) with the fuel shut off with stabulized gasoline (the 10% ethanol crap that they sell now). It started fine, but there is gasoline coming from the carburetor vent tube that ends behind the air cleaner. I had dripping gasoline and a puddle after it ran only a few minutes. What causes this? The service manual does not give any troubleshooting for carb problems. It only has the instructions for performing the service so I don't know what needs to be done to correct the problem. I tried running the carb bowls dry twice to try to unstick the floats…

I have a 79 XS11, did carb rebuild last year. motorcycle ran 90% good, ran very rich, no choke use on cold starts and a rough idle. took bowls off and reset floats. now uses choke to start runs smoother, but when it warms up it goes to a high idle, about 4000 rpm and stays. any suggestions on the direction I should go, thanx.

Hey all - Any idea of where I could get a center stand for my newly aquired 1991 Yamaha XJ600s Seca II? From what I've read - Yamaha did offer it as an option, but I can't find one anywhere - some 80's SECA stands are on ebay - but no Seca IIs. I can't imagine taking the bike apart without a center stand. Dave

Hi, I have an R6. It has 7,000 miles on and I expect it still has the original Chain & sprockets. I have an option to buy a used chain & sprocket set for £45. It has apparently had less than 100 miles of use as the bike was converted to a race bike straight away. It comes with a chain, stock rear sprocket, 15T front sprocket, and new chain link. Is that a good price? Should I bother replacing mine?

Hi, everyone, my name is Trevor and I ride an XJR 1300. I've just bought my son a YBR 125 and I'm replacing the lower fork legs as the old ones are all corroded. Does anyone know if a 2006 wheel will work with 2007-on forks and caliper. I've just bought some lower fork legs but they are 07-0n. Unfortunately the brake side is different. So I think my only option is to fit 2007-on caliper as well but dont know if this will work with a 2006 wheel. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  14. Hey all, my furst poast on this forum, I'm the proud owner of a Yamaha SR250. It needs a little TLC, and seems like a good bike to get to know how the mechanical side is put together. I've got other experience in car mechanics, and a little in bike mechanics, but i've not replaced a chain/sprocket set, or the fork seals and oil. So the obvious question is: (1) does anyone have a manual for a 2002/2003 SR-250? Or know where i can find one? Hopefully in the manual, of if someone knows, i'm after a couple of pieces of information: (2) The volume of fork oil? (3) The fork spring length and acceptable limits (4) Distance of the fork cap to the triple clamp (…

Hi guys, I'm new here and into biking. Happy to see some Yamaha fans out there. I just bought a FZ600 1988 and I'm currently repairing fairings (they were in BAD shape). Since I'm actually doing some work anyway I figured out it would be a good idea to change the tail light on it for something more appealing. Some of you guys know a light that would fit quite easily there to replace the current one. Another questions for you guys while your at it . You guys know where I could find a lower left fairing for my FZ. Used or new who cares as long as they are in good condition and not too expensive. Found one on e-bay but the guy says it's guide only specifies that t…

Hello, Im Matt, aka Furbie to my friends. I have recently purchased a Yamaha Fazer FZS600 which I think is great. I only passed my test 4 months ago and this Fazer is my 1st big bike. I think its great, its quick and very responsive, its economical to run and I have not got a bad thing to say about it as of yet. The only problem I am having is to change the time on the Clock. Its a digital clock and I have tried from what I can see on the bike and even consulted the manual, but this doesn't tell me anything and I have tried with no success. Is there any one there who can help me? It would greatly be appreciated. Hope to hear soon. Thanks. Matt.

So, I recently picked up a nice little 82 Seca 400. Good shape, fun little ride, but it's kinda' quiet. I'd like to put some mufflers on there that will give me a little more noise. I'm not really looking for any performance increase, mainly because I don't feel like rejetting and everything else - I just want it to be a little, or a lot, louder. Any suggestions?

  20. Hello all, so I have bought a cheap Thunderace, but it's not very well lol. Rear shock has no oil in it, forks only travel about 60mm, seized EX-UP valve, temp gauge doesn't work, end can held on by a jubilee clip that doesn't actualy do anything ! The bike has been resprayed, not very well, and the fairings have a lot of broken bits and cracks. The good points are, 25,000 miles with all the old mot's to back it up, and loads of service history. Im going to get this bike right up together, and have all the fairings fixed and a complete respray including the wheels. So far I have removed the rear shock, and taken it to a specialist to be serviced. Here is a co…
