Hi peoples, got an old 93 yzf 750, she breaks down @ 4000 rpm, sometimes it will spit an sutter till she breaks free, and off she goes, taken out the exup cleaned greased, no differnce, cleaned carbies, no differnce, fuel pump, seems ok, starts, idles, and once through, (if it breaks through) breaking down stage, it actually goes ok. 37.000 klms on the clock, presume to be actual, so up for major service, so is it timing, valves throttle senser?? what ever they do, battery, seems fine never hurd of charging causing this When in nutural it will some times rev its tits off at first then will go into breakdown at the 4grand mark, so sounds like fuel BUT????? Started my bike (R1 5PW) for the first time in a couple of weeks on Sunday and it was idling at 4000rpm, I went out out for a small ride to see if it was just cos I hadnt ridden it for a while but it was made no difference. When I got home I lowered the idle with the adjuster but could only lower it to idle at 1500rpm no lower... Should I be worried about this? Anyone have any ideas why this may have happened? Your help is greatly appreciated Paul

Hi guys, im new to this forum, in fact I'm new to my R6. Ive bought it to compete in Moto gymkhana in the Uk. Our sport mainly uses first gear, with out using the clutch, and we run a tick over of around 4000rpm to aid in acceleration. But because we have very tight turns and full lock rotations in the comp's we restrain the bike with the brakes it pulls the tick over down to 1000-1200 revs, so when I come off the brakes it should pick up, but it's not doing until it reaches 4000rpm So far I'm running 1 tooth down on the front, and 2 up on the rear. = +5 but until it gets over 4000rpm it runs very flat, and then all hell breaks out and…

Evening, looking for a bit of advice. I bought a 09 plate YBR 125 three weeks ago after doing my CBT. I'm getting on with quite well but I'm a little concerned about over reving it. I've done 300 miles but find I'm always in 5th gear. 4th at 30 shows 5k rpm but it feels like the bike is screaming, although it is in the middle of the powerband (if you can call it power!). I'm still running it in and want to look after the motor but I'm also learning as I go along. Theory test booked for next week and then on to DAS from there (funds allowing!) Ade

Hello, New here. Just been looking at trading my 1996 XJ600S diversion in for a Fazer. Looked at a 2003 model - then saw the 2006 model was offering 0% finance and only £1500 dearer! A now face a couple of problems and advise would be appreciated. 1. I'm only 5ft 3 and the 2003 model was a bit lower. 2006 may need the seat lowering about 1". 2. I have full givi luggage on the Diversion (went round Europe a couple of years ago and WILL do it again, with the 2003 model I can get a wingrack fitting kit. The 2006 model I can only get a tubular system and the indicators look like they have been attached with a piece of meccano! Does anyone have either o…

I got my 08 R6s last month and went to get the 600 mile service done. It seems to me that it was a high priced oil change. What does this service entail? Im pretty good with the care and service of my car, I do my oven repairs and service. Could I do the same with the bike?

Never had to buy tyres before, got a good quote for Corsa 3s but it's for a 120/70 on the front, it's got a 120/60 at the moment. Does this cause any problems with insurance? I've definitely heard of people putting 70s on the front, is it a good idea for an '03 R6?

How do I know which postion the petcock is set on? Is the longer part of the handle I turn the pointer? Or is the other end? On the left says res> on the bottom says on then to the right says <pri . Can some send a pic of a petcock pointing to Pri then res. then on postion. I am so confused. In the morning when I go start it I got to put the switch to the right for it to start which i'm assuming thats the pri postion ? It wont start if the longer part of the switch is down which looks to me to be the on postion. Or do I have a bad petcock?

Hey got a problem with my bike it will back fire when i let off the throttle and i have notice that is will misfire almost at 4000 rpm ,where should i start the carbs ,change coil already and plugs still the same! I have clean the carbs every year pretty much and for some reason it gets better but not solve totally. Voltage is 14.5 at 3000rpm so that's good ,i did however burn up the diode and replace it with a new one and it burn also! but i got one to work maybe my current to low or to high! I'm lost and manual doesn't help all to much .

A couple of weeks ago I went to start my 82 XS400SJ and when it fired it ran rough, had no power, and would backfire. It did seem to run smooth if I got it up to over 4500 RPM with no load. I had to leave it and went away for a couple of weeks and now I cannot get it to fire at all. It looks like I have spark on both sides, I have a full flow of gas when I put the petcock into the "Prime" position (Tried to start it there as well), the fuel is clean and recent, and the battery is well charged. I am pretty skilled at 4 wheelers but am a relative newbie on 2 wheelers. Before I start running off on wild goose chases can anybody tell me which direction to start in?

Hi everyone. I just recently picked up an 82 XS400SJ Heritage Special. It needs a lot of bits and pieces but one of the things I am concerned with is the master cylinder. There seems to be too much travel in the handle to start with as it almost touches the grip and the resevoir sits at an almost 45 degree angle when the bike is level. I have a suspicion that this may not be the correct master cylinder for the bike. Does anyone know the correct part number, can give me any idea how to positively identify it or, better yet, can someone post or send me a picture of just what this master cylinder should look like and how it is oriented on the handlebar? Does anyone know i…
