Hey everyone, I am new to this forum, and I am new to owning a DT and so far I have had a nightmare with the bike. I brought the bike of someone for a good price, and the bike look well presented, and well looked after. The bike is a 1995 DT125 and has done about 11,000 miles. The problem I am currently suffering is that the bike accelerates OK, but when it hits the power valve the engine makes the sound of the sudden power increase but there is no noticeable power increase. I thought that it would be the clutch plates but there was no clutch slip 2 days ago before this problem? A few days ago the bike overheated and one of the radiator pipes had been loose so…

hi everyone i have just joined your sight tonight anyway i passed my bike test last week and now need to get a first bike onroad legal one anyway ha. im looking to start out on a 125 2 stroke to gain some experience........ wimp arnt i a friend has a fireblade for sale but probably not a good idea if i want to reach xmas anyway that same friend has suggested that i get my self a yamaha dt 125 to start on apparently its a quick,reliable good all rounder from what he has heard but has never owned one himself so cant tell me to much. from looking at it online it just what im after a enduro dirt bike type with a upright riding position good for a learner. i dont re…

Hi guys having abit of trouble with my indicators on my dt125 r, i bought replacement LED's indicators ( dont you just hate the originals) i connected them together yesterday and when i turn them on, All of them just stay on, but not very bright. Have i blown a fuse or damaged the circuit? Do i need to buy a converter or anything? Cheers dudes

Hi guys thanks for all the help. I have a slight problem when the bike is in netural or have the clutch in the bike revs fine, but when I ride it seems as thoutgh the bike is missing, but not all the time and some time the reves drop and if you open the throttle they pick up again if you rev it a few times. I think it is a feuling problem so I took off the carb too see if any dirt got in and check the jets when I blew on them they didnt seem blocked and sometimes back fires ____________________

Hi, I've got a very weak spark that comes through the spark plug cable from the CDI but only occasionally it will come through the spark plug. Me and my dad can't figure out what it is, I thought it might be a bad earth? Compression is fine. Could it be a faulty CDI? Thanks, Ollie.

Hi all, this is my first time on the forum so thanks for any answers in advance. I have recently bought a DT 125 MX 1980. The idle screw has no effect on the idle of the bike (it idles so high it is basically screaming). I took apart the carb and noticed that the carb slide sits really high, maybe a third to half the way up the venturi chamber. Obviously this is the reason for the ridiculous idle. The bike has custom handlebars and forks from a more modern DT. Maybe when they were changed, the throttle cable was too small? How can I lengthen the throttle cable so that the carb slide can sit all the way down? The hex nut adjusters are all fully tightened so I can't ch…

Alright just bought meself a dt125 r and wanted to tidy it up abit by put a tail tidy on for my reg plate. There is 2 wires blue and black with white stripe and then it was join to 4 wires for the reg light. I have snipped it at the 2 wire and connected new light and tried starting it and no electricity at al so connected old back on and still nothing not even a noice wen I turn the key. I had it running before I done this. The bike doesnt have a kickstart either. Anyone had this problem head is baffled thanks jack

iv got a 05 dt 125re,this model dosnt hav a kick start jus a big plastic bung wer it should be.. the bike rarely started on de electric start and now ders not a kick out of it.. dnt mind de electric start, i converted it to a kick start the other day and it still dosnt start. wen i kick it it sorta feels like thers no compression, yet wen i start the bike on the run by poppin de clutch it goes like a rocket no shortage of power.. aswell the kick seems to hav a reali short stroke.. reali tho it seems like theres fuk all compression, but there obviously is if its runnin so well.. so anyone hav any ideas or suggestions? also i read on some other post dat someone else had sim…

hi ive got a dt 125 r 2002 , i think its lost some power beacuse first of all it was 75mph top speed on the clock, but now it struggles to go over 55mph and its never got to 75mph since any suggestions thanks

right me chippers, this is anuva 1 of them topics about the top speed of a yamaha dt 125. ive seen it evrywhere about them doin atleast 80mph. i have one myself where as it has absolutely great power in gear 1, gear 2, gear 3 and gear 4, no problems at all, it will reach about 65-70mph ragging the tits outta it. and as i go to gear up into 5th, it seems to start to slow down. anyone have any ideas why this is?

I took my bike in for a chain and sprocket set change but when i went to pick the bike up it would not start! i left it with the garage and they said the CDI unit and generator etc was not giving any output, thus leaving me no choice but for them to send away the units for repair (something about re-wiring the generator/coil?) they said this happens on these machines ie: the units can just fail. It will be costing me £175 to get repaired has anyone else suffered from this on these bikes? Also i had done the "re-wire" from the speedometer to de-restrict it would that have caused the trouble? Any ideas/infomation would be much appreciated thank you

hi, would like to put full road tyres on sons bike, at the moment standart spoked wheels, and knobbley tyres 80/90-21 front 110/80-18 rear would like to also use smaller wheels, like super moto. are der any alloy wheel i can buy second hand, from other bikes that would fit. with out any major hassles. thank you

alright guys anyone know how to de restrict my 02 dt ? looses all grunt in 4th and wont stay in the powerband range ive been told i have to get the survo to turn 180 degrees and apparently theres a robber block in the inlet from the carb that needs taking out do iactually need to do this and will it improve performance much i want acceleration more than top end as i go offroad quite allot

Hello Well engine rebored etc etc and refitted with a brand new Mikuni TM 28 ss 418 flat slide carb fitted as well, Bike starts but idles at 2500 rpm idle screw is all the way out and turning mixture screw has no effect have checked with WD 40 for air leaks everywhere (none found) has new air filter fitted and have stripped carb at least 10 times . Float height is set at 22 mm as per factory setting and is running with a 240 main jet ( should not effect idle anyway) any clues to fault appreciated .
