Chaps, There is a new E-Mail scam that is doing the rounds. It is a mail message from your bank (any bank realy, it might just look like your bank) that is claiming you have recieved a refund from HMRC (the Tax Man). Attached in the mail is a .HTM document (it looks like a web page) that will be the undoing of you, should you click on it... so don't Here's what the mail looks like: From: Service HSBC [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: 15 September 2010 12:21 Subject: HSBC Notification : Incoming funds ! Dear Applicant: You have received a tax refund payment of 302.25GBP from HMRC (HM Revenue & Customs) into your Internet Banking Account. Please acce…

The bikes in the garage! nice and dry, ones in the living room even dryer, bikes in the wooden shed! nice and usually covered in condensation(in proper cold) used a oil filled radiator still got wet, last winter left um without heater still did it, shed has ventilation and is water tight. My fear of the eight legged critters far out weigh the possibility of using covers( I am a girl) have heard containers of salt but the thought of salt does not ring true(salt/corrosion). It never really creates any major headaches(yet) just wish it would't do it poor bikes!!! Any fantastic ideas out there??

Hi everyone new to this but hope someone can help me . i bought a 1984 XJ600/FJ600 and it was sitting around for a few weeks or so maybe longer with only short spirts now and then . i started the bike and when i went to trake off it surged , lost power , then slowly and gradually gained momentum . once in the higher gears it appears to run ok ,yesterday i went out for a spin , it did the same thing and was choking , once it gained momentum , again it seemed ok . when i got back it was misfiring a bit , and a flame was coming out the back when i revved it . today was better and i put premium in it and it seems to be getting better and better , but still sluggish off the …

Hi,My name is Steve, this is this first time i have been a YOC member, and a Yamaha owner, thats not to say i am new to bikes, over the years i have had a few different makes . I have recently bought a XJ600 Diversion that has been stood for some time, it is generally in good condition. I started with the usual tank drain and fill with new 'fresh' fuel, it took a while to coax it into life but perseverance paid off and after about 15 mns it spluttered into life . Now the plugging of the grey matter, it starts without having to use the choke , but once it is running takes a long time to warm up and respond to the throttle (if i start it using the choke it …

Hey Guys, First off I just wanted to thank Drewpy...I haven't been on here in awhile, but I received my patch last month and it looks amazing! Secondly, I'll be in London and Paris on a family holiday trip leaving on Christmas. Do any of you lads over the pond know of any interesting motorcycling/automotive types of places and things that I might be able to visit/see while I am there? Thanks guys.

Hello people, I'm a noob rider who has just bought a 1999(T reg)DT125R in black as a supermoto project for summer,i've had it around 2 months and had new disks, sprockets, chain and headrace bearings fitted to pass the MOT (not passed yet as i can't get it to the garage cos the bugger is giving me jip and won't start at the moment). I have bought a pair of Cagiva Mito Evolution II wheels to go on when conversion time comes and know exactly how I want the bike to look when finished (it already had a DEP rear pipe). I have only done about 8 miles on it (picking it up from my mechanics house after the work had been done) but even so I instantly fell in love with the bike and…

I got a 1978 DT400 E with no spark. When I purchased the bike "a BAD choice" it ran fine. The key switch was missing as well was the kill switch along with all the lights except for the headlight. I just bought the bike to use off road to keep an eye on my son as he learns to ride on his 78 YZ-80. The headlight was smashed and didn't work as well as the speedo or tach. So since I was going to just do off road I removed them. The plug to the headlight would not come off so I cut the wires at the back of the plug. Now this where my memory is foggy. I don't remember if I started the bike after this or not. So I took all the wires between the forks and made sure they were all…

Hello everyone, there have been several posts on the forum asking about replacing the YBR125's feeble headlight (mine's a '56 plate for the record)yet none of them seem to have been resolved as to whether the result was better, so i thought, as my halogen replacement should be installed within the week i'd post one that will be resolved If anyone has upgraded their lights on any Yamaha then feel free to discuss (p.s gladly, the headlight on the YBR only needs 3 screws removed to access, on my piaggio 50cc, it would have been about 20!)

Hey peeps, The XJ finally died on me last night, coming back from newbury along the A4 with a chinese takeaway in the tankbag, just about got into hungerford when the power died and it would not idle, sounded like it was struggling to run, possibly starved of fuel?, it died when pulling away from a roundabout, after i had pushed it round the corner to a petrol station and swore at it a bit it started and began to run correctly. Im going to do a plug chop on it today and see how that goes, its running a motad 4-into-1 with more holes in it than a sieve, thats the only engine mod on it as far as im aware so, why has this happened, what has caused this to happen and h…

I wish to change the standard exhaust for a pair of pipes that make the XVS1300 sound off loud. The helpfull guys at Custom Wizard (Sheffield, stockists of H&H) could not say if my ECU would need remapping ( a gizmo called a Power Commander .....bl***dy expensive and MAY be needed). So any one out there tried these pipes....without screwing up the performace of the bike? by the by, this model is fuel injected. Appreciate your input. Regards Tony

So, as I've mentioned in my intro I'm looking to grab me a 125 Dragstar soon as I have enough money for it, insurance and a helmet and the CBT. Just wandered if there is any advice people might give on this? I'll give a little explanation. I've a good idea of the basics of how to ride a bike but I guess experience is always the way forward. I'm looking for anyone/everyone's two cents on how to go about getting my CBT, is my choice of bike appropriate, how easy it is to go through the tests etc (in terms of best time frame to do it in) Been driving a car 4 years, no problems, quite comfortable. Kart racing since I was 9 and had a 50cc rev and go Italjet dirt bike…

Not much to say, however a picture paints a thousand words or so they say.... I don't really have much experience in bikes as such. It just strikes me as a little strange to have pipes exposed at such length with no apparent destination. If they are breather pipes, I would have though they would be tucked away a little better. Somewhat concerned of course, given it's our son's road bike. Reassurance or advice welcomed! Thanks.

Hi As the title says I am thinking about a trickle charger to keep the battery charged up when it comes to the more winter type weather, as at the moment I am using regularly anyway, the bike has an alram so I am sure I am going to need something come the winter. Was wondering if any one had tried one of those small solar panels that are designed to keep a battery topped I had one that I used in an old Volkswagen Type 2 van due tot the alarm and the radio memory draining the battery in about two four weeks and that worked ok for that, not sure if it would work for a bike? The problem I have with a plug in charger is that to get electricity to where the bike is k…
