Hi, I thought I'd ask the experts about a 50cc machine for my son. I've been looking at bikes like the Aprillia, Gilera and Derbi when I came across a 1989-90 (G) DT50 being rebuilt by A yamaha shop in Poole (local to me). I have a few questions: 1) are parts hard to get? 2) is it a good bike for everyday use? 3) is £950 a fair price? 4) is there anything I need to look out for? This is the sort of bike I would have ridden when i was a young whipper-snapper, but don't want to be swayed by nostalgia! Thanks in advance Tony

So I've finally passed my test and looking to step up to my first 'big bike'. I reckon the FZ6 is a great place to start out; smooth & tourquey 4 cylinder (the configuration that I trained on) plus a 'sports-touring' design and upright riding position; good for the long-distance trips I plan to cover on some occasions (and favourable insurance prices to boot), plus enough power so I won't get bored after learning the ropes So anyway I've found a great offer at a dealer whose offering an S2 model; low mileage, great condition & for a decent price. Here my dilemma begins: the bike was originally imported from Spain as a parallel import [equivalent model avai…

I went to see this bike today and I'm considering buying it. Here's the dealer's description: "891cc, . This is probably the best XJ900F that we've ever had........and we've had a few !!! It's covered less than 25000 miles and is in pristine all round condition. It's been fitted with Krauser panniers and top box. The engine and gearbox are warrantied by us for a year, parts and labour. We can arrange delivery.. £2,499" It really is in pristine condition, and the dealer has also offered a 2 year guarantee on the engine and gearbox. I'm relatively new to bikes and would be grateful for any opinions on this model/year and whether you think this is a good deal! …

hello, recently i purchased a 1999 Yamaha SR 125 off ebay for £450. and i need some advice as things seam to be dodgey, it was supposed to come on saturday however the owner couldn't find the V5 and so it has been delayed, i later found out (after he rang the DVLA) that no V5 had ever been issued and so this was the first one and therefore free, i have asked for the MOT certificates as i want proof that it is MOT'D. also when i tried to get a quote for the insurance using the registration plate the insurance company and comparison website stated that the registration plate and bike didnt exist, i tried doing a text check on the registration and again nothing, however upon…

Bye bye FZ...I do miss you But it had to go, the final straw was changing work locations, twenty plus miles of undulating twisting quiet B roads....just great, fcuking great...but, I was pushing the limits all the time, accelerating out of the corners with the front wheel lifting up a wee bit in a few gears...horsing into corners and locking up the rear a bit while down changing...which sets up the corner for a better exit ...loved it, all the time. The worrying thing is that I was not worried. When it rained I would not take my old hack out, but I would still take the FZ, just for the fun of relativity low speed drifting. All great fun, but not clever, and no…

  18. I've just heard on the idiot box that they have decided to make middle lane hogging and tail gaiting a driving offence. This is great news and I think will be welcomed my most. I am a little concerned though over the implications of this, are we now going to see more and more cars ducking in and out of lanes because they don't understand what over taking is and what middle lane hogging is. I tend to stick to inside lane myself and have a right old time dodging people "pulling in" into "empty" (me) lanes which either forces me to back off into the car behind (now causing him to tailgate me) or have to pull out into middle lane to get room (look, now I am a hogging …

Well peeps, the new buyer came to collect the Mong today. As a last leaving gift, the little f*cker decided not to use its headlight, however the new buyer was understanding of these older bikes and their "quirks" (he's a classic mini owner aswell, so that explains it) and into the back of the little van it went off to a new home It may have been a little shitbox compared to the blade, but it was my little shitbox for a brief while, made me feel a little bit sad when it left , maybe i am just getting too attached to my bikes? not sure if anyone else gets this. but anyway, onwards and upwards with the cafe racer project, need it ready for squires
