  1. Hi, I have a Yamaha YZF R1 1999 model I can tell from the headlights that the bike must have been a grey import, Im guessing from the temperature gauge being in fahrenheit that the bike was originally for America. Im trying to check that the engine number is correct to the chassis number and probably because the bike is an import motorverse.com does not recognise it. The bike has been registered in this country since 1999 and have owned it myself since Feb 2008. Would be grateful for any pointers as to where to look to find out more information. Thanks Dale

Yamaha has teamed up with their top MotoGP stars Jorge Lorenzo and Ben Spies to give you the chance to win one of three limited edition 50th Anniversary Yamaha bikes. Check it out: http://yamahaclub.com/_/news/motogp/yamaha-motogp-challenge (Only for Europeans I'm afraid.)

Hi folks, I'm thinking about getting hard panniers for my commuting fazer. Trouble is, she's a 99 model and I'm having real problems finding a wingrack that suits. I already have a givi top box mounted on the usual plate along with monorack arms but I'm thinking I will need to remove those to use the wingrack for any panniers. Any ideas?? I've been using soft panniers and they're alright but a pain in the backside when it comes to security. Cheers .......

Has anyone ever experienced a mis/backfire and done all the usual, carb clean, replace plug, etc, but nothing changed, the fault was still there. I have read in some forums, of this, and the fault turned out to be the CDI unit. Could this be true and if so any ideas of where its best to look for a CDI for an M plate SR 125 unit. My unit is an early model with 2 * 4 way connectors. The ones I see on e-bay are 1 * 6 & 1 * 2 way connectors. Any help greatly apprciated. Thanks

  5. my bike has been converted from drum to hydro disc by the previous owner although i not happy with the set up the arm on the master cylinder moves on a 45 degree angle instead of in a straight light an there is hardly any travel on the arm making it impossible to bleed the brake if i ever wanted in my opinion it would be alot more straight forward if i could fit a cable pull caliper (running the cable from the pedal to the caliper with an adjuster to get the tension right) but the only one i know off is from a sach madass an they are rarer then hens teeth i ve tried using find a part but had no sucess are there any other cable pull calipers out there?

Hi I've noticed that the xv250 virago is identical to the xv125 virago to look at (as far as I can see). Apart from the engine capacity are they essentially the same bike? And would parts be interchangeable between the two bikes? Thanks in advance, Wyn

Hi All, small problem that you can perhaps help me out with, I have (as some of you know) an XJ750 and a Midnight Maxim, the Maxim is in the middle of having it's head repaired but my problem is getting hold of the right head gasket. Both engines look identical externally and the XJ gasket (ebay) looks identincal to the one off of the Maxim but the guy who is selling it does not know if it will fit. Can any of you tell me either do they have the same gasket or a part number for the correct one. Any advice you can offer would be gratefully recieved. Thanks all.

Hey guys - and gals, for the politically correct out there Back in the saddle after too many years of being subjected to driving those darned 4-wheel vehicles - give me two wheels any day. First rebuild project is a 1983 Yamaha XT125 (sad I know, but you've gotta start somewhere) - it's sound and in good 'nick. However, the exhaust downpipe/silencer/muffler is looking tired and will probably fall apart as soon as I touch it. Does anyone out there know if any of the later/still available model 125 systems will fit? Originals from 1983 are as rare as hens teeth or rocking horse manure (being polite there). Or maybe you have one kicking around in the shed/gar…

Hello. I've been using the Garage Forum, but not had much luck. Quick question; I am sure that there used to be links to parts manuals on this forum, but I think that the links have been removed. I'm building a DT125LC enduro hybrid, using a 12W frame (Mk 1). I've picked up an engine, which has come from an RD 12A. Does anyone have a parts manual for a 12W?, or know where I can get one? I've a rolling chassis, but need to kit it out with a 2 stroke oil tank, and various other bits and wanted to avoid buying the wrong bits. I've a parts manual for the 35A but this seems to be a different beast.. (albeit cosmetically it looks pretty similar.) Any help would be …

  16. I have a DT1F-36948 with matching engine and frame. Has 21" front wheel. This number does not come up in my research. Does anyone know if this is a 1971 or 72? Is it high compresion? MX? Also the piston is marked 7050, I assume that's .50 mm over standard 70mm bore. My question is how many over is this? Is this a 1st over, 2nd .....what incriments are the overbores? And finally any idea where I can get a piston ring for this. (it is a single ring piston). Thanks for taking time to reply....This is my first post. greg

Hi all. I have an 09 Midnight Star 1300, I was cleaning it today and noticed ripples going across the width of the top of the headlight surround, it appears that the headlight surround is being compressed or twisted in some way. Has any other owners had the same effect happen to them?
