Hi Everyone, I have bought a 1981 XT250 for $360 off ebay that is a non starter. I have no knowledge of the history of the bike but it doesn't look like it has started for a long time and it has been maintained using bodge methods. I have a clymer manual and enthusiasm. Problems: Kick starter has no decompression cable. Cam chain tensioner is missing. The timing was completely off. The electrics have been messed with. Indicators / brake light have been removed, only remaing light is the headlight. In general look butchered. No battery. Sticking clutch - my intuition says this might fix itself once the engine warms up and has been running for a little while. The most…

My stoopid, son tried climbing on to my bike today whilst it was parked on the drive and as a result I now need a new brake lever (£19 off wemoto) and a new plastic side panel cuz he tipped it over (he's fine other than the thick ear he got when he banged it against the palm of my outstretched hand). Any idea where the best place would be to look for a side panel other than paying yamaha OE prices? Cheers. Si.

  9. Started by TJS,

Had a wierd thing happen a while back. It was a stinking hot day (approx 40 degrees C at 6pm). Was riding along at about 60kmh and the scoot just died. No spluttering. Just complete and immediate loss of all power. Suspected it was electrical but the thing started easily and off I went. Same thing happened again that night and as per previous time, started again no problems. Since then the headlight has stopped working. Doesn't work on either lo or hi and the dash illumiination doesn't come on either for the two dials. Indicators and brake light work fine and bikes starts and runs perfectly. I've checked: -Light switch continuity (ok) -hi/lo witch coni…

  18. Had to go down to our cottage near Annan today so what better excuse to take the bike. Fuelled up just outside Gorebridge and took the A7,(a bit crap with slow movers but was in no hurry) down to Longtown, across via Gretna to Eastriggs. Back up the M74 (chance to collect some flies) then over the A702 to Edinburgh & east lothian. Feckin Awesome day out. Now, I know the Divvy isn't everyone's cup of tea but in having no experience of another big bike I can't imagine what else you'd need? 60+ mpg, comfy seat and comfy on the road. I will admit that after an almost solid 200 miles my right knee was getting a bit annoyed, I found myself scooting back up the seat for ex…

Now that I have bought many fenders in hopes of installing one I believe I have the wrong front forks. based on pictures I've seen on google and parts websites it looks way different than any I have seen. Any help would be awesome if someone thinks they recognize these things. Thanks! ~ Dillon
