Hi all, I've posted on here before but not for a while so I may just look like a newbie to you all. Just wondering if anyone could possibly give me some help. I have a 1999 Yamaha DT, every time that it seems to get wet my bike seems to fuck up, the other week it happened and it would not tick over, it kept cutting out and not going past 7000 revs. I took out the spark plug which was so black, changed it and got it running again. It got wet again and the same thing happened, I played around with my air and fuel mixture and got it running fine, but then it always seems to change. At the moment it will tick over just over 1000 revs which is so low I know but if I turn my t…

Hello fellow yammie fans. Although I'm not really a newbie, its my first time posting, a few years ago, i bought a DT175, I thought there was somthing special about it when i first saw it,and the seller told me that he believed it to be an ex-works bike, I took it with a pinch of salt but bought it anyway (too cheap to walk away from !!), however when i stripped the engine, all internal webbing was different to all the other DT's I've stripped, con rod was thicker than standard and the crank was lightend and balanced. What i need to know is how do i get a log book for it to get it back on the road when the engine and frame no.s (2K4-0031**) aren't even listed for DT's…

  7. Hello guys, recently I have purchased a 1980 Yamaha DT175. So I wanted everything to be legit interms of maintaince and ownership so I downloaded the owners manual. As I was reading through I reached the page that mentioned the 'Machine Identification'. So since I'm pretty sure my bike is a DT175, the manual says to check the serial which is stamped on the right hand side of the headstock assembly which is also the same number on the engine. So if its a DT175 it should start with 2A7-XXXXXX and if its a DT125 it starts with 2A6-XXXXXX. So I went and checked my bike for the codes. Neither the frame nor the engine showed a code close to what is listed in the manual. …

I have just imported a dt175 1974 tank from America, and it does not fit, the tank measures 17 3/4 from front monting lug to the centre of rear mounting hole, however the frame measures 16.5 ?? Really frustrated, both my frame and engine numbers match and start at 443 019297, ive heard there was a change that year but as rare as these parts are, I cant really afford to keep spending money on what sellers claim to be the right part, is there a match and what tank do I have, please help. ??

Hi everyone, I have the above bike and my question is, does anyone know if the front part of the exhaust pipe (from the cylinder head) is it the same as the exhaust on a 175A or B. I know the complete front section isn't the same but I want to cut the down pipe from a 'A' or 'B' and weld it to my exhaust as it is in a bad way. Thanks

Hi im new to this website and have recently bought a 1995 Yamaha Dt50 mx. Unfortunately the speed of the bike is a problem as i am used to bikes over 125cc so the 50cc will no cut it. But it is a lovely bike to ride and i would be happy if it went a bit faster say 65-70mph. I know this is possible but it has been a nightmare looking for parts so can anyone please tell me where i can get a 70cc big bore upgrade kit and a new exhaust. Cheers Mnty

Hey peeps I'm looking at another DT... Drawn like a moth to a flame, and anyway I have found one in need of a little tlc... But its an automatic with a chain drive, I was unaware this type of bike existed, how do you think it works? Some form of centrifugal clutch and variator I guess but how can they fit it within the cases?

I have posed this a few times on here and keep getting stupid replys but owell iltry again rouhly 3 years ago i boughta DT50MX in blue to restore it came with no documents as it was sold as off road use only. Since i have had it i havnt been able to find anything about its like it doesnt exist. 15. Hi all, We're featuring DT50MX restorers in our regular 'I restored a...' slot in Practical Sportsbikes magazine and I wondered if any of you who have restored one would be kind enough to share some of your experiences with your project. It would involve a chat on the phone (or email if you prefer) and you being able to send a high res photo of yourself with the bike to go with your words of wisdom. We're after hints/tips/advice/techniques - anything that might tempt someone to have a go themselves. If you'd be up for helping out, you can contact me via email at [email protected] or on 07875 736021. If you prefer, send me a contact number and I'll happily cal…

  19. Started by Bisset,

Im new to the forum so il start by saying HI. I have just got myself a DTR 125 to learn to ride on, I bought as a non-runner and have now got it running, however it will only run with the choke on! I thought this would be an easy fix with adjustments to the pilot screw. This is where my problem starts! the pilot screw has had the head ruined and I can only just get a bit of grip on it but the screw doesn't want to turn with the small amount of grip i can get. Does anyone have any ideas on how i can remove this screw without damaging the Carb? any help is very appreciated!
