Hi all, How soon should you expect an exhaust to last before it starts rusting. I purchased my Fazer 8 new June last year and whilst have ridden it in various conditions (weather wise that is!), the stock exhaust has started to rust where the mounting bracket is welded. I realise I made the mistake of not weather protecting the bike for winter riding and some of the connections etc have started to corrode, but what's the score on acceptable corrosion/rusting on a virtually new bike that hasn't even reached its firt service yet? It's been washed down regularly and garaged. cheers David

Took a little trip around town and some back country roads here and then stopped at the beach for a couple photos... I'm getting excited about the approaching riding season seeing as how it's going to be my first full season ever!! Can't wait to feel some WARM weather though! Ice and snow is still abundant...but the roads were fairly clear at least. Sand and salt everywhere but I already feel so much more confident after reading that Twist II book that it's like a night and day difference from when I started riding last year. Gratuitous photos attached!

Hello, I am currently stationed in Okinawa Japan and i bought a Yamaha SRV250. I got it for a helluva steal. only $750! Anyway, it has some serious carburetor issues and i need to rebuild them. the only problem is i can't find carb parts for it anywhere!! From what i've read the carbs are not the same as its Virago brother being that the Virago only has one horizontal carb and the SRV has two vertical carbs. Anyway, if anyone knows where i can get carb parts for it or if there are any identical carbs i can use parts from please let me know so i can get this thing up and running! Also, the guy i bought it from said that it was a 1981, however, from what i've read t…

Locking up the Virago at work Friday, slight reddish tinge on the hub. Got home lifted front wheel off the deck, sure enough, bearing on the way out. Two new bearings and a seal bought and fitted yesterday morning. Then in the afternoon, on the Radian, fitted new wheel bearings and seals front and rear, new rear brake shoes, plus re-fitted the wheels with two new Bridgestones on em, brakes/chain adjusted. Bowled along at my own pace, several brews along the way, radio on, nobody bothered me Had a good day

  13. Hi there, looking for some advice. I want to buy a chrome clutch and oil filter cover and a stator cover for my xvs 1997 (metallic orange colour). Really really hard to find second hand parts for this bike. So i searched some sites in the states and have found parts but I'm not sure if they are compatible with European models. I also have the 1997 model which is the first xvs 650 model. Are the case covers compatible compatible on v-stars and dragstars? I tried looking at the part number and they seem the same but one has an extra 00 at the end. Anyone here with experience of buying parts in the states? Also if not possible, what year do the parts change on t…

I'm looking to put some apes on my bike, always liked the look. Now I'm thinking 16" not sure if I'll need risers to clear the tank ? My question is can you simply buy all the longer cables needed ? Or do I have to get them made up for me?

So I get in from work and was given a list of everything that had been done while I was at work and I had to admit the house was spotless. Only one job left and that was to cut the lawn. To which I politely replied 'sorry babe there's no petrol left in the can' She only suggested siphoning some out of the bike!!! Laughing, I said ''Course I 'kin will, just like you'd give up a chocolate brownie'! Storming out to work she said something to the affect of me using the exhaust pipe from now on! Anybody else think I may be getting lucky later tonight when she gets home??

Immediately thinking "What have i done?" oR "oh shit.. now what?" I replied , eeerrrr yeah. ((In retrospect I could have said "No mate i walk around in leathers and helmet cos I ride a horse!!!"....although good job I didn't!...............)) He replied....."I used to have an identical one and I've got a complete exhaust for one of these at home you can have!!!..........." Just been to pick it up, sure enough complete original exhaust for £20........Result! Down pipes had a repair and its got a…

I need a long distance runner in the collection as I don`t think the RD350 is right for that job. I prefer all my bikes having kickstarts as they stand quite a bit (try ride different one every day). Prefer to go for a Honda like CB550 or 750 four. Any suggestions what could make a comfortable and reliable long distance four stroke classic cruiser?

Hi peeps. I'm still trying to find parts for the FUCR, mainly the top yoke, the dimensions I need are 35mm stanchions, with 19cm between their centres and 5cm from the stanchion centreline to the stem. I already tried XS400 ones but stem fell about 1cm short of what I needed. Sorry for the crude diagram, but it gets the point across, I'd be very grateful if any of you peeps can measure up yours (giggity) and let me know if any of them would be likely to fit.
