Okay, I'm not going to say who is arguing what point but here are both sides. Side A ) Buy a cheap bike, learn how to ride on that bike, sell bike, buy wanted bike. Side B ) Simply buy the bike you want, and learn how to ride on that. What do you think?

Hello all, I know I have posted a few topics already but I feel rude as I haven't properly introduced myself. I'm from Wilmslow in Cheshire, I know nout about bikes. I have 2 children under 3 and as such I'm skint so hoping to do alot of maintenance myself and may call upon help from here! Motorbiking is something I have always knew I had to do, my partner doesn't understand it and thinks I'm an idiot but I just couldn't go another summer seeing everyone out on their bikes! So I recently picked up a bargain Yamaha DT125R - pic below. My aim is to keep it as original as possible and make it look spanking by sorting out the mismatched panels and giving it a genera…

Hi, my name is Bartek and I'm 16, I live in England and obviously I own an Yamaha Something about me: English isn't my first language so I do make mistakes, I study mechanics but I'm just started and my knowledge is poor I started driving this year in march, everything started with Aprilia SR50, thank I moved onto Aprilia RX50 and got into heavy off-roading that my Aprilia RX50 can't really handle and not long ago my friend offered me an Yamaha DT125 in good condition and in perfect working order for amazing price of £150 although it was without v5 papers so it's not road legal any more and luckily I prefer it this way as there are less things to brake when I cr…

Hello everyone, I have a question regarding my R1 and was just hoping I could get some advice. I have had my R1 for around 5 years now and had bikes all my life, but due to personal injuries since then years, I have come to the decision that it is time to sell, massive waste really as its a great bike and in mint condition with low mileage (7100 miles), its the year 2000 model. I find it hard to gauge how much to sell bikes for so would like to see what people think would be the right price for this bike, had MOT yesterday and the tester asked whether it had been in kept in bubble wrap since it was bought, any advice is welcome. Thanks alot in advance. (this is not …

i took my yzf750 for a spin today, i was going up a hill near my home, i took first up to about 9ooo revs and as i changed into second the front lifted a little causing the bars to go all light. This often happens so no problems, but this time the front wheel only being 1 inch or so off the ground hit a bit of bad road and turned my bars completely to the right. The first response to any dangerous situation is to brake but to brake in this situation would have been an instant off. As a forty four year old having passed my test at 17 i consider myself reasonably experienced, but i still amazed myself. My instinct was not to brake but to yank the throttle fully o…

Ello all... Now I probably know the answer to this question but wanted to pick the massive brains on here anyway. Well I purchased a 1999 Thundercat last week, all was fine until Friday on the way to work. Whilst going round a roundabout it popped out of second and made an awul mechanical noise - sort of noise that a chain rattling against something would make. Immediately thought - un oh its the infamous 2nd gear problem! On my test ride before purchase I checked as well as I could for this, accelerated hard in 2nd and no problems. Well it hasnt fallen out of gear again since but has been a bit "clunky" changing into 2nd from 1st (no problems going down from 3rd tho…
