Anyone experiencing the same pinging noise? I googled it and it seems like it's fairly common just want to hear it from 1st hand yamaha owners.Here in South Africe we run 95 Octane fuel.I've been told octane booster will sort it out, but my main concern is, is it harmfull to ride with the ping?

Hello everyone!! I just got in from my first ride on my 1987 (or 89... I'm not sure!) Yamaha Radian 600. It rode very nice! I traded it for an old GMC pickup truck, and I LOVE it. It's very sharp, and has 5,500 miles logged. My first (of many, I'm sure) questions is this: What maintenance should I perform right now? The last guy owned it for about a year, and he didn't even know where to put oil in, which pains me. I'm a Land Rover owner and I love working on stuff- so if there is a list of maintenance that all new owners should perform, I'd love to see it! THANK YOU, everyone!! -NewB

Hi all , i'm Rob , just joined up a moment ago as i've just bought a old 1987 fz600 off of ebay (i mean literally just bought it , not even picked it up yet) , so thought i would have a gander and see what its like on here , and if any one has a bit of knowledge of the fz600 i.e. common faults and problems to watch for , any advice would be very much appreciated .

I have a 72 yamaha LT2 enduro that I bought two weeks ago for 550. I thought that it was in great shape but I keep finding more and more things wrong with it. It had a wiring issue and the headlight would not work, also it had no battery. I fixed both of those issues. Then it had poor compression and died when it was idling. I dealt with those and now I found that my piston rings are gone. Both were broken and in the exhaust pipe. I have ordered new ones for 20.00 and a new piston for 45.00. My question is when is enough enough. How long should I go on replacing things like this and do y'all think it is likely that things are going to keep cropping up this often? Keep in …

Hi Guys Some scum bags have stolen my 07 White and Red R1 with carbon akrapovic pipes. The bike was parked outside my house in W14 London, covered chained, and alarmed. Guess it was picked up and put into a van. Reg: EA07 DVX Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Don't you just hate them? I took my bike to get a new piston fitted, was running sweet before it broke, I sent it to the garage, got a brand new piston and top end gasket fitted, and he has completely messed up the mixture and put the needle on the carb through the roof! seems like enough fuel is going through for a 125cc engine and it's only an 80cc, I told him not to because it's an aftermarket carb with race reeds, but he obviously took no note. It's obvious he hadn't even started it for more than 30 seconds let alone run it and set it up. Taking it in tomorrow morning so I can watch him set it up properly. well had my first lesson to day only have one left was on the bike for about 8 hours and have a bad back now lol im justa bit woried about my test at the moment :S its not the riding part its the bloody life saver things that i keep forgeting to do or wich side to look any advice ohh and the bike is CRAP!!!!!!!! lol its a honda cg 125 this but in red my street cred carnt get any lower lol and it can only do 60mph flat flat out that 5mph more than my moped(50cc) :|

I just bought a motorcycel off of Ebay that is supposed to be a 1992 Yamaha Xv535. The problem is, The vin has only 9 charecters. The vin is 2yl064548. What is this bike. I was told by a guy that it might be a import from the Uk. Im not sure. I need a gas cap and gasket for whatever bike this is but I do not know what to buy. Will other years interchange? Like I said, I need help. Any help anyone can give me would be apreciated. Thanks

I have found a toggle switch located next to the pillion seat release key on my 2000 R1, I know the bike had a lot of work done to it ie quickshifter, dyno jet kit, ram air box when it was new in 2000. Has anyone got an idea what this could be ?? The bike seems faster with the toggle swithch in the up position !!
