Hey Folks, As some of you know I've been getting my DT125R ready for a return to the roads, the information I have received here, from various mechanics and also MOT Testers is invaluable. Some parts of this are obvious but others not so much. A quick breakdown of the stuff that is not required for an MOT (My personal case so far!). 1. Lights, If you have even one light connected all of the lights must be connected. However interestingly enough if you were to blank out all of your lights with duct tape or something similar they wouldn't test them anyway... 2. Speedometer, not actually needed for the MOT but it is against the law to not have…

I got a text from number 2 son earlier in the week. He said he was looking to do his CBT and get a 125 to commute on. He has had a full car licence for several years but he, and his other half, only have space for one car. He lives in Essex so I pointed him to a CBT centre near him. I thought he planned to take the CBT later in the Month and was still investigating the in's and out's however, he texted me a while ago and said that he had passed the CBT today. He is looking for a 125 supermoto, trials or TW type bike. To be honest I am proud he passed but am worried as a father. A little greedy of me really as I have got so much out of riding. I guess even with kids in …

Hi everyone, I am new to this forum. I have been interested in motorcycles for years but it wasn’t until recently that I started looking into purchasing one. My budget is low so I was looking into a totaled bike and fixing it up. I started visiting salvage yards and I noticed that about 50 percent of the bikes had sliders on them but the bikes were still getting damaged. I thought the whole idea of a motorcycle slider was to save your bike. What I believe people over look the fact that by adding a motorcycle slider you are GREATLY increasing the force of the fall onto one point; your slider. So I have designed a spring assisted motorcycle slider. I have researched spring…

I e-mailed these today, either he's having a laugh or has found out I,m a Derby County supporter, seeing as they're on the wrong side of the A52. my e-mail to them. Looking for the price of the full kit of swingarm bushes, rollers, top hats and shims, off a 1992 yamaha dt 125r chassis number 3MD019272. Their reply. Hi Nev Yamaha don't supply a 'kit' for the suspension bearings/collars only the seperate parts. It's unlikely that you'll need to replace every part, but a 'ball park' price would be around £250.00. If you strip the swingarm and check what's required we can give you an acurate price. Somebody please tell me that I can get th…

Hi all, without wanting to sound like a total idiot I'm wondering if my bike is 2-stroke or 4-stroke? I have a 1997 SR 125. What are the main differences between 2 and 4, and is there something you must do differently for each? I could just head off to google I guess but then why join a forum if I'm not going to ask you guys for help. I have no mechanical background whatsoever so be gentle please!

0-60 times are really hard to come by for most bikes so does anyone have any idea with the XV750 Virago? Sorry if this sort of thread already exists in the forum but its really hard to search as the search system doesn't like '0 - 60' or '0 to 60'

Hey everyone. what are the regulations with regards to headlights on motorcycles. i.e do they need to be a specific height above the ground, do they have to focus on a specific point at an exact distance from the headlight itself?. basically im planning a front-end (temporary) modification to the XJ600... basically a deadmau5 head with eyes as headlights, if i can upload a few pphotos from my sketchpad i can give you guys and gals an idea of what im after, but ideally i would need to get to the bottom of this headlight dilema before i can settle on a design cheers all - Foameh x

So, My insurance has came through for my XJ600N, hoooraa ! was reading all my information that came with it and it appears that my policy coveres me (third party) for driving another bike, (as long as its insured by someone) Was speaking to my old man about it, and he suggested he got his 2 BSA's on the road to go for a few trips this year, and same again next. so, what one should i ride ? The Bsa B40, or the Bantam D5? anyone got any encounters with any of these bikes ? i can remember sitting on the back of the b40 since i was just tall enough to reach the foot pegs

It wintered all over me from Glasgow to Edinburgh today! So, been thinking about comfying up my Divvy a bit and ensuring it survives the winter as I plan to use it as much as possible. Here's what I'm wanting.. 1) Crash Bars, tempting fate maybe, but they do the job. 2) Heated grips - essential hand mod! 3) Extra lights - not sure about this but I'll probably be doing a lot of night riding. Main lamp on the DIvvy N is good but I could probably do with more. Thinking about something like this.... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280525212643&category=25628&_trksid=p5197.c0.m619 I'd be interested to hear if anyone else h…
