  1. Started by Rog,

well picked up my thundercat today and took her for my first ride. All I can say is that compared to my SV650 its an amazing piece of kit. To be fair the the SV is a budget bike and I would recommend it to anyone who wnats a lot of fun on a budget but the CAt is more comfortable, quicker, better suspension, better build quality and although heavier it handles far better. In short Im glad im a yam man now

  6. So I had my first spill coming out of the Wallasey tunnel tonight. Bike decided to do a bit of acrobatics while I was braking, think I hit a spot of oil or something. I'd wondered whether I needed all the padded/kevlar gear with "just" a 125 YBR, but after landing on my shoulder and sliding along the floor at 30mph I now understand why it's important! A bit bruised, but I'm intact, so I guess the gear did its job. Bike wouldn't start at first, was just getting the engine light, but after about 10mins of catching my breath and cursing it fired up like nothing had happened. Handlebar is a bit bent, and the right indicator won't work, but otherwise it looks largely intac…

Hi there all, Would like to hear some opinions from some people who have been around bikes for a while... this is my first post here so let me introduce my self, my name Aaron from malta soon to be 22. I recently fell in love with a cool looking Yamaha virago vx125s to be exact, a friend of mine has one and is thinking of selling it for approx 1800 euros, this is a 1999 model with roughly 350000km on it. I'm considering to buying this bike but need to know if it's worth buying it, maintenance wise. Do you think the virago is a reliable bike? Is it ideal for a first time buyer like myself? Are parts easy to find? It would help if i got some personal opinions…

Hi all. I am new to the forum having only joined a few moments ago. I have passed my direct access test this month and am after buying a YAMAHA yzf R6. There are a lot of models out there for sale and they were produced over many years. I have been trying to search the forums and bike magazine sites for reviews on the R6 as I am trying to find out what is the best year to buy or to avoid. I know they changed things like graphics and frame colour etc in 2003 but could someone please suggest a year bike that is considered as the one to have. Thanking you all in advance Andy.

Hi folks, So I'm a bit of a novice on this... I want to fit a power outlet on my XJ600. Do I need to fit it directly to the battery or to the ignition? I think I could figure the first one out but otherwise I'd need some help. Cheers, Ed

Have a new(ish) diversion F, have always used Scottoilers, and rate them. Have not had a prod around yet, but is there an easy way to get to the vacuum tube that opens the fuel tap. Or if there is does anyone know a reason not to just put a T piece in and go for it. Wil

Am looking for a suitable vacuum to fit a scottoiler on a diversion (the new one). There is a spare blanked tube that looks like it is used for analysis when it goes on a pc, is this suitable? Thanks Wil

Hi guys. I got my YBR a few weeks ago and am currently fitting an alarm to it. I've got the basics working, ie, it's alarmed, but it also works as an immobiliser and thats where I'm struggling. I need to identify where to connect the wires around the ignition fuse and input trigger on the start relay If anyone thinks they can help, please give me a shout and I'll supply photo's, circuit diagrams and alarm manufacturers instructions. I cant get my head round it.. Thanks in Advance Si

  15. Hi Folks, new to the Club and new to Viragos. I have moved from a (don't sneer) Chinese 125 Cruiser - not unlike a Dragstar 125 - the Lexmoto Lowride. It had a lovely, albeit plastic, big front fender like the Dragstar. The Virago 535 has a weeny front fender and I'm anticipating a lot of splash back in the rain! Does anyone know if it's possible to fit a Dragstar Fender to a Virago 535 - the 535 does have a slimmer front wheel than the 650 and up but the 125 looks like the same size-ish front wheel. Any thoughts Thanks all Click to choose files Mark

Hi guys I'm new here and hoping to get some help. I bought a set of Dr. Bike heated grips to install on my 2009 XJ6N. I'm fairly comfortable with fitting the grips but I'm struggling with the wiring. I don't want to connect the wires straight to the battery. Someone suggested I connect the positive to the tail light live wire using a simple snap-lock connector (like this from maplins for example http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/maplin-snap-lock-connecter-blue-l30ay)and then the neutral straight to the battery. I'm very much an amateur but I think I should be able to do this fairly easily ... assuming I find the tail light wire! Do people think this is a good id…

  20. Please can anyone help, if they have already fitted heated grips to their XVS950......? I have bought Oxford-style heated grips. (They are "On Tour" but look like they may be made by Oxford for On Tour) - 22mm diameter for clutch side, and 25.6mm for throttle. After removing the bar ends and then the rubber grip on the throttle side, the plastic sleeve that the new grip goes over seems to large - it also has big ribs all along it. The inside of the new heated throttle grip has a hard sleeve in it, which I assume slips over the plastic sleeve on the handle, but they seem exactly the same size (ignoring the ribs, which would need to be shaved off or cut down.
