apart from bascis like regular oil changesand bigger engines being more capable generally speaking - what do you think is a reasonable expectation for a 1000cc bike please? 1000cc bikes should do 50K without anything serious if they have been serviced imo, possibly up to 75K but what do you reckon? Of course, there's other related items, bearings for both steering and axils, clutches and final drive transmission but I'm on about the engine, carbs and gearbox.

Hi all, I've owned a 96 Thunderace which I really like but.....the clutch is really heavy. Anyone else have this issue or am I just a real whimp? I had an issue with not hitting neutral so replaced the clutch friction & steel plates, springs, seals at the business end of the push rod but although I can now hit neutral (most of the time) and despite all this, the clutch is as heavy as it ever was. I'm assuming early R1s would have a similar clutch setup and wondered if anyone else out there either is more manly than I or has a solution.....???

What do you reckon? They might be fun but then I've never ridden one. I know that I'm often glad to be behind an electric car, if I have to be in traffic that is, as opposed to some poorly serviced diesel lol.

Teenage Memories There was a gaggle of us back then, I had a battered Honda twin 125 of around 1963 vintage that somebody had sprayed white, what were they thinking of? It didn't go that well but it was 'alright', main thing I recall is how smooth it rode after my jerky Bantam. My friend had a new Honda 90 SS which seemed quick to us. My other friend had a scooter with dampers on the front wheel and his cousin had an earlier model that had been bored out to 200cc. Our motley gang was occasionally supplemented by a small bloke on a British bike that had a side car frame attached, sadly he died before getting much older, through cancer I believe. Then there was a German…

This machine has a very sluggish starter motor, it struggles to turn the engine. I've replaced the brushes, cleaned all the connections. Anyone know what's wrong?

Hi, I'm probably super daft for whatever I've done to the bike, I swapped out the bulbs for LED's after the bike fell and broke the originals, now the indicators turn on and blink at the right speed, but both sides do so simultaneously, regardless of what side I flick them onto. I've attempted to look for an answer but it all seems far too technical for my smooth brain and I need someone to dumb it down caveman style. I've seen some people saying it needs a relay? or other electronic part? Not entirely sure. Any help would be appreciated

I bought a Dragstar 1100 Trike which I've put a lot of time and money into but I get a massive tank slapper at low speed. Pulling away is fine if I'm getting up speed and slowing down is fine until I get below 15mph then I have to grip tight which stops the slapping. When cornering at any speed I get a kind of scraping, grinding sound. I'm mechanically minded engine and electrical wise but this has me beat. The seals on the forks are good, I've had the tyres off the rear end and checked, balanced up and re valved, they're new tyres. The front tyres not that old and in good shape. There's no play in the steering at all and everything is tight. Any ideas on what could…

I recently bought a pair of Virago inlet rubbers which look identical to each other to my eyes. One has the markings 'A and 1' on it, the other has 'B and 2'. Does it matter which one is fitted to the forward cylinder head, and which one to the rear cylinder head? Can someone advise please? Ian

After I've pressed down the choke lever on my YM2C (like the YDS5) and then released the pressure on the lever to start the bike, the plunger on the right hand card drops down slightly and the bike won't start. It will only start when both plungers are jammed up fully. What is it that holds both plungers fully up? Any ideas? Thanks.

Hi Hope someone can help me with this. I live in Turkey and the local Yamaha dealer/service agents aren't any help. I've had the XMax scooter from new (2019) and never had the coolant replaced. I had a split pipe in the coolant system at its join with the reserve tank, resulting in the reserve tank emptying itself. I've fixed the pipe, but the coolant that dripped out was an orange colour. Yamalude coolant appears to be blue coloured, so I'm not sure what type to top it up with. Anyone with any idea what coolant I should use? Any info appreciated. I don't really want to flush the system and refill, but will if needed.

Hi All. I can't find any reference to this issue but my xv has got a very wobbly gear lever.. not at the gear shaft but the pivot. Good evening y'all... It's been a while since my last post here, and, I feel guilty... (probably not) I have been through some changes in my life recently, getting redundant from my job, starting new job, but, what's most important - now I HAVE TO RIDE DAILY!!! Can't put it in words how it feels to wake up at 4AM to get ready for work, get geared up, push her out the gate, start her up and..... There is nothing... Just me and her in the dark, no traffic most of the times... It's our time where we can learn about each other so much... So far I have learned to adjust chain slack, changing few bits here and there... I feel like we are starting to gro…

I recently got a 2009 Yamaha FZ6R. It's missing a starter Idler, which I finally found whilst taking the bike apart trying to diagnose why it wouldn't start. I have access to parts from a 2006 R6. So my question is, are the parts Compatible? The part numbers, are all the same except for the first 2 digits, but both parts look identical from a image perspective. Does anyone know if these bikes are compatible though? The 2009 Idler part number is 20S-15512-00, but the R6 part number I want to see if it will fit is 2C0-15512-00... Is there a big difference between 20S and 2C0??? Or will it work? I'm on a budget so if I am able to use the 2C0 on my FZ6R I will be happy savin…
