  1. Thank you, ignition is the sort of route i was going however when i call the local yamaha dealer to get a price for a coil (£46+vat ) he asked what the problem was so i explaned and he said there was no way this could be the cause as the fault would be there all the time, he said check the valve clearances and make sure the carb is clean. Well in my opinion it would be the other way round. Im a car mechanic so im not stupid, if there was crap in the carb the fault would be more likley to show all the time however like you say a coil or stator breaking down usualy shows itself when hot to start with. Im unsure why the valve clearances would matter unless they are miles out but he being the yamaha dealer should know so i didn't argue, i will do as he said tomorrow and see what happens.....
  2. Hi, please help My 2003 XT600e has decided to start missfiring (sometimes doesnt fire at all) when accelerating from 3,200rpm or less. It also misses a beat when at a constant low rpm when riding under no load at a low'ish rpm. It only does this when fully warmed up. When it does cut out it takes about 10-20 seconds of cranking before it starts, wilst cranking it pops a bit. I have had a non standard exhaust fitted and jetted to match but i have put it all back to standard and it's still the same. Thanks for any ideas

Hello all, Im thinking of converting my 2003 xt600e to supermoto and keeping a set of spare offroad wheels for the wet winter weekends but i would like to get an idea of what it would look like so this is a picture request if anyone has already done it or knows for any sumo xt pics please..... Cheers Joe
  4. I will try lifting the needle again at the weekend and see what that does. Thank you for being so helpful. Joe
  5. Chop was done at only part throttle at 4000rpm! The jet was like for like, a genuine yamaha part, i went from 130 to 140. Thanks for the reply
  6. Hello, I've fitted a CRD Absolute Power II exhaust followed by lowering the needle clip one notch and raising the main jet by ten points as per instructions from CRD however i just carried out a "plug chop" at 4,000 and found the electrode to be mostly covered in white so it appears to be running lean. Is there anything else i can do? Thanks Joe
  7. Mate, I have recently gone from a 2001 Dt125r de-restricted with a Dep and reed valves to a 2003 xt600e but if i had to go back i don't think i would find the dt that slow when under 50mph. To be honest if you want a 125 thats still fast over 50mph you need a RS125. My dt did 80 max so its not far off but the slightest bit of a head wind and it was down to 60mph everywhere. Remember its still gonna have less than 25hp!

Hello people, i plan to re- jet my 2003 xt600e to suite a non-standard exhaust however im a bit confused with the twin carb set up. I have found a diagram of the carbs and have read from the exhaust manufacturers website that +10 points on the main jet would be a good starting point. Does this mean on the main jet on each of the two carbs? Sorry i've never done this before. Ps its a crd exhaust Thanks
