has it got wet recently? We've had lots of wet weather for a few months! It's always worth taking the carb drain screw out just in case there's water in the float bowl

if its a high idle will it not slow by adjusting the throttle stop scrwe on the carb?...or has the rubber connector cracked/perished, an age thing? greetings mr Miller

yep nothing wrong with a split link used on a low power bike at all, just make sure the fish is swimming in a forward direction

don't recognise the numbers but it looks like an IT250? -
I'd change the head gasket too, for one of the rubber coated ones not the painted metal ones. Often with a head gasket gone you'll see the expansion tank apparently bubbling and water coming out of the pressure relief tube by one of the frame spars maybe?
