No spark, how to diagnose... 86 FZ600
Airhead replied to ExecutivePowerNap's topic in Yamaha Workshop
So the fuel tap works well in prime, You dont know if it works in the other positions. I take it then that you are trying to run the bike then with the tap in prime position, are the plugs getting wet with fuel, Also im concerned about the HT leads just being pushed on to the plugs without caps, this cant be right theres always some sort of proper termination like it shows on This Diagram Item number 23 -
Hi Grant and Oliver, have you tried ebay,I Found This, its not cheap but you could ask them if the specific info you need is in there using the 'Ask seller a question' button

No spark, how to diagnose... 86 FZ600
Airhead replied to ExecutivePowerNap's topic in Yamaha Workshop
If you dont know why its not fuel problem then why not eliminate this, the fact that it starts and then runs briefly could suggest va fuel problem. Why not pull off the fuel line and switch to prime to see if theres a good flow...could be just a drip...a partially blocked filter -

Hi its important that the fuel tap is eliminated as being the problem, they are usually vacuum operated...does your tap have a 'prime' position? -
1986 FZ600 Loss Of Power, Won't Go Anywhere!
Airhead replied to StandAloneShell's topic in Yamaha Workshop
If im right in thinking its a 4 cylinder, pinpoint the problem cylinders thus: - From stone cold, start the engine and feel all the exhaust header pipes, the ones that stay cold are the problem...Take it from there. You say it will run with the outside plugs removed, you should not do this unless the plugs are in the HT caps and they are grounded, it can damage your electronic ignition, just something i once read...no personal experience of this -
Hello and welcome from me too

How did you test the timing, with a strobe? Have you solved the problem yet??

DT175MX Wheel Here you go m8, Ive got one of those bikes too! chadkoch1989 Posted Today, 04:06 PM no one wants to help me out? Not many of these around, not many people know the answers

Wheres that then lotty?
-
Glad you fixed it lotty without too much grief, as for gasket i think you should attempt to buy new, dont recommend joining compounds, they make it too difficult to remove in future, the only place you should use that is on a crankcase split and rebuild Look here

Another sad loss of a great biking talent. RIP Craig

Well done V05, now you can talk instead of just 'lurking' eh! Take care now.

Its all a matter of confidence norrie, why not get some miles in on quiet roads first, get accustomed to the bike and you will fell more confident, then you will find it much more enjoyable, after this go and get in the city traffic and show command of your bit of the road Take care

On mine (DT175MX) there are numbers 1 to 6 moulded in to the engine casing, why not check to see if yours has?
