  1. You tell em ChicagiXS, Words of wisdom indeed IMHO And as for Gman, Chicago wouldnt be half as windy if he left...Another IMHO
  2. Good choice...me too See above
  3. When the bike was sold new, it had the correct jet for the engine with standard exhaust, silencer and air filter, It may now have an after market (Not Yamaha) expansion pipe and silencer, you are also talking of a different filter. These things are changing the bike from how it was, the danger is in running too lean, too lean can cause overheating, in extreme cases ahole in the piston crown or possible seized engine. This is why you need to jet when you start changing these items, although i must add that I doubt you need to make big changes, thats why I said go for the next two sizes up from standard BTW Markyboy27 is looking into jetting on his 125 Dragstar, have a look at his recent posts, you will learn a bit from them See plug chop
  4. No harm in putting a cartridge air filter in no, As for jetting, only jet bigger than standard, jets are cheap so try the next two sizes up, Have you had the bike from new, can you say its got the original jet in there, If you dont know then find out what size is standard and look at yours with a magnifying glass, size is stamped in the jet, next to the hole. Also you will need to plug chop when jetting

    Charging Battery

Its a good charger that one, similar to mine but mine will do both 6v and 12v, I think the light with the tick will light when its full charged, bike looks nice, what do you think , have you rode it or was it delivered?....So you gonna leave us then and join the Honda forum

    Charging Battery

It doesnt matter, It takes as long as it takes, The flatter it is the longer it will take. If you really need a time I would say 8 hours. Check to see if the charger has a fully charged indicator and look out for that

    Charging Battery

Have to disagree with you there Olli, nobody takes the tops off to charge the battery, Only to top up the electrolyte, Not necessary as the battery is vented. Also no need to disconnect the battery, Just have bike switched off, make sure the charger is set to correct voltage (12v), some chargers have an led that says when fully charged, mine does

Hello madrob and welcome to the forum, youre gonna need that 650 to keep up with the mrs , unless she gets the baby draggy (Then you can have a little kip while she catches up!)
  9. Hello shell and welcome to the forum, my god youre not gonna ride "The Beast" are you haha, Dont worry youll be fine
  10. I'll count myself in as one of your Yam biker mates then eh! Glad youre enjoying it so much, youre learning fast Marky
  11. Hello Matt and welcome to the forum, Good to see you are enjoying bikes so much, I think with the gear lever issue, if you bought the bike from a dealer, get them to lift the lever by one spline on the shaft, that way you will have more room to get you foot under it
  12. Hello Wildfoamy and welcome to the club, Nice looking little DT youve got there. To get slightly faster top end at the expense of acceleration you will need to go for a front sprocket with more teeth, I suggest no more than 1 tooth. Theres always the danger that this low powered engine wont pull higher gearing if you overdo it!
  13. I did this, put decals on then laquer after , then leave to harden, as has been said, in this cool weather maybe a week would be better, T Cut last if necessary...Dont forget, use petrol proof laquer on tank!!
  14. Not a very popular bike so you may have to wait a while to find some, I suggest you look into Pauls offer, give him some measurements etc, and it might help if you post a photo. If nothing comes of it, ebay will be your best bet, save a search and the forks will come and find you!, There are firms that will re chrome so dont throw your old ones away It is however expensive.
  15. If your bike ia 12Volt electrics, make sure new indicators are also, Same applies for 6Volt!...After that cant think of ant reason
  16. Be patient Tom, you may or may not get an answer, but not likely that quick!
  17. Hello and welcome DT1CM, Hard to figure without pictures, Could it be a connection for autolube, has the motor got an oil pump and the bike a tank, or is it petrol / oil mix? BTW for pictures Open a photobucket account Upload your pics there with each pic you will see four fields Copy the IMG field Paste into the forum
  18. Ok David, sounds about right, as long as its had around 4 days to harden off properly, Use T Cut on a damp cotton cloth, press gently with two fingers and use small circular strokes, polish off and inspect then repeat, Just do a section at a time, believe me its worth the effort, Dont be too vigorous and look out for signs of overdoing it, which will be signs of black paint on your cloth
  19. Dont know what youve done when you did it and what with, Can you fill us in, theres too many blanks at the moment
  20. No me neither, smoke comes from burned oil, balancing would just be rough running, and anyway it could still have good compression even with Knackered seals, Its just that if you remove the valves for a thorough clean, you will need to give them a quick lapping in because you disturbed them.
  21. After its hardened off properly, T-Cut it for a good shine
  22. Must admit that I know nothing about these bikes, But i'm wondering...Could it be a condensation drain pipe that doesnt actually connect to anything but is routed down somewhere for the water to drain to the road?
